DO: Get fitted for shoes. DONT: Wear them for this race. You will ruin them and need to get an entirely new pair. Wear something busted and old for this one.

I did that last year, and I am an avid runner / triathlete. This race is nothing like a standard 5k, so training for a standard 5k wont really translate the same. The obstacles really throw a wrench into the actual running part of the race.

Swiftwick and Fitsok are pretty good too and affordable. I've also had great success with Fila socks at TJ Maxx. Really cheap but hold up really well, and nice and thin.

Agreed also pop a few IB Proufin for the swelling thats happening tonight and before the run as well.

Ice your shins all evening. If you have any compression socks, wear them. Stretch your legs out really good. A lot of ankle flexes will help. Shin splints are not a bone issue like some have mentioned, its a strain on the fibers holing your muscles to the bone. There is nothing to be done about them other than training…

Not true, A&D can pull out the ink. A good option is unscented lotion, even better with oatmeal. Or the better is to use something like H2Ocean, you can get that from most of the nicer shops.

My wife and I are just finishing a cycle of P90x. I did the classic and she switched to the lean about half way through. Honestly there isnt much difference between the two.
