I am doing P90X and my wife and daughter are doing Slim in 6. My daughter has done a few of the P90X workouts and says that the full workout in Slim in 6 is just as demanding as the cardio routines in P90X - she is very athletic too so probably a good measure! However I think that P90X is much more demanding overall given…

I use a heart rate monitor now - but before I got that I used to simply estimate 600 calories for every P90X workout. I created my own custom workout called "P90X" and gave it 600 calories. With the exception of Yoga and Stretch, I would put that down for everything - for those I just used the MFP "Stretching" workout.…

You will be surprised how many calories you burn on the other workouts - pull-ups, push-ups, curls and lunges etc still get your heart rate up. I burned 620 last night on Core Synergistics according to my HRM. I think they are all designed to get you a 600 or so calorie burn.

My scales show a different weight depending on where I place them on the floor...they suck basically. I tried keeping them in the same place but of course someone always comes along and moves them for some reason!

I use the GNC Wheybolic - chocolate - and it tasts pretty awful to me. Not found a powder that I like much at all to be honest. I mix with water though - I am sure it would taste much better with milk, ice cream, fruit, whipped cream and sprinkles.

Actually her showing her boobs did change the way I felt about her. To be fair, it affects me more watching Mary Poppins. I just see her float in on that umbrella and think "I've seen your boobs". (Although Mary Poppins is a better movie..)

I guess I hate it only because I have seen it over and over. And the fact that Julie Andrews got her breasts out in that later movie which totally undermines her character.

Dammit I started watching The Sound of Music - why is it that you have to watch that movie until the end? I actually hate it...except the bit where the nuns rip out the distributor caps in the Nazi's cars.

It's a leap of faith but totally true...muscle burns fat. It takes time to build though, so be patient. If you are doing a 90 day program (Chalean) I am guessing you wont see the real results until you get into phase 2/3. Stick with it, trust it and remember everything you put in now is going to get you results down the…

Scissors and Mason Twists I find very effective. Although getting definition with abs requires losing the fat so cardio is just as important. The Ab-ripper routine in P90X is pretty intense - it is only 16 minutes but relentless.

I am interested in others experiences with excerise programs that burn fat and build muscle. I am doing P90X and so far after phase 1 have lost around 5lbs and am feeling great. If I wasn't doing P90X I would aim for a weight around 165-170 - I am guessing I will wind up a little north of that but not sure what a…

I am going to throw my two cents in - I started a month ago and while very athletic when younger that seems like a long time ago! Anyway, my personal advice would be to not be intimidated by the fit test. When you start getting into it you will see that Tony and his crew offer plenty of alternatives to either lower or…

I have hardly lost any weight after phase I - don't sweat it too much though. Reading through a lot of posts on the topic, it seems most ppl tend to start dropping weight in phase 2. To be honest its kind of hard to try set a goal weight on something like P90X - as fat burns away muscle gets built. Anyways, slow and steady…

P90X really is a great program - only into the recovery after phase 1 at this point but love the variation. Got to say Yoga is the most difficult part for me - I love lifting weights and jumping around but I honestly think I sweat more in the first 45 minutes of that yoga routine than in any other so far! Who would have…

I have looked a few times at those dumbells, but I just can't get past the size of the things. Seems to me they would interfere with form on some routines - have you noticed any problems with that?? For now I have stuck with individual weights.

This will sound a little cliche, but I know people who swear that fruit is the answer to the sweet tooth, it just takes a little re-engineering of your head. I heard frozed grapes are a great sweet snack (sound a little wierd to me). On the other hand its a shame to deny something you really do like, perhaps you just need…

I just throw in 600 a day and around 270 for X-Stretch. But you are right, everyone is going to be way different based on a whole bunch of factors. I had a related question - the target calories for the day seems to be driven by your weight loss goals, but for P90X there are other factors beyond simply weight loss goals…
