  • I have this same experience with morning workouts. I adjusted my eating before and after to avoid the "over-full slumber" feeling to no avail; by 10:30 am I was useless. I also end up in bed early and sleep like a log after working out in the afternoon. I think the endorphins have a slightly different effect on me lol. I…
  • Sure enough, somebody posted about a 7 day day cleanse they tried recently. PLEASE, PLEASE read this before trying!
  • Try Physical Therapy for a month or two. There are several modalities we can try to reduce the swelling and pain then introduce exercises. Bursitis does hurt but PT can provide you the tools to help reduce flair ups and allow you to exercise.

  • That flimsy feeling is instability within the knee/muscles/ligaments. We should do (Closed Kinetic Chain) activities that keep our feet stationary on the floor to build up and balance the muscles surrounding the knee before moving on to (Open Kinetic Chain) stuff like jumping. The "bent backwards" feeling is hyperextension…

  • Hmm, here's my thought... Since kettle bells combine body parts and have some cardio type moves maybe this would fit under low level plyo?? To track it on here I would put it in as squats with dumbbells or squats with shoulder press (whatever the move most closely resembles with rack weights) and list the kettle bell's…
  • Congrats; Great guns keep up the good work! Glad to see a fellow Jeeper on here!!
  • Just keep getting back up! We are human, we aren't good at everything we do on the first try. Athletes train for YEARS to get to competitive level, eating healthy and exercising regularly is no different. We have to train ourselves to make the right choices. You indulge in one meal, eat really well at the next, didn't…
  • Ever hear a reputable, successful dietician advise a detox/fast?? Nope, me either! And a juice fast; hello sugar, sounds like a great way to mess up your blood sugar levels. Eat your calories! My scale seems to be stuck too but my measurements are looking better and my clothes are getting loose. Just keep at it, our bodies…
  • I'm scared of free weights! I'm scared because I don't want to injure myself and have a setback. I'm also a person that is an over analyzer (can you tell by my posts?) and a person that has an extreme worrying complex. I also have very low self confidence and berate myself heavily on a daily basis. As far as intensity, I'm…
  • I forgot to add there are plenty of exercises like squats, lunges, pushups, dips etc (I could go on and on) that use just your body weight for resistance that are AMAZING for challenging multiple muscle groups and produce great results...just make sure you have good form
  • The diet portion is where I fail, the working out part happens to be part of my education/job. My educated advice to everybody is to get off the machines!! They work isolated muscles ONLY, whereas free weights work the target muscle as well as all the muscles that support the position; which helps us burn more calories and…
  • Machines are inaccurate since they don't ask for gender, height, and weight; they provide a generic calculation. Some HRM are also more accurate than others. Since you've entered all your information and the HRM is attached to you monitoring your effort, I would rely on the HRM. The majority of us would be surprised by…
  • but... he's a doctor... and oprah likes him. [/quote] Made me giggle! Thanks! (that is if you were being sarcastic, if not, disregard my comment and I'm sorry)
  • And Yes Monsterx I do know exactly what Diuretic means.
  • True, there is water in most things we drink; as well as sugars, caffeine, additives our bodies don't know what to do with etc. "Caffeine is also a diuretic and causes a loss of fluid, which then leads to a dehydrating effect. This is obviously not conductive to fitness activities such as resistance training, as fluid is…
