I'm reading that book, "Wheat Belly," and amazed at how so much of what he writes makes total sense. I have one week GF now, but wondering how to count calories.... ???

Good to read your post -- I've also been taking a break this summer from MFP and discovered while "gone," that I seem to have an intolerance to gluten. I've been a week without now, and do feel better, but wondering how to count calories.... ??? Any tips will be appreciated. :flowerforyou:

That is so totally WONDERFUL. Blessings to you both. My husband and I (20 yrs. Protestant) were both confirmed into the Church 4 years ago and so glad. I wonder if "cradle Catholics" know what this truly means to us.

I'll be curious to hear more about these changes. I've been to 3 sessions so far and am impressed (and sweaty!). I'm glad I found the Curves message board!

Sounds interesting. I'm off to work tomorrow after a 5-day weekend and will give it a try when I get up from my desk. Are we counting steps?
-
Okay... sounds interesting... what are "issyfits crunches"?

Agreed, we are never too old for new music! I took my 18 y.o. daughter to an Ozzy concert in Minneapolis 20 years ago, and at age 47, I'm sure I was the oldest person there. Still, as this thread proves, there are a lot of us loving music of all kinds. And BlueJean, "Music Is The Doctor".... remember that one?

Ice cream! I refuse to give it up, but I'll cut cals on other things if indulging is the goal. I'll also walk a bit further.....

I just talked today to someone who was using the drops. I fully sympathize with someone who cannot lose weight any other way, but I'm still puzzled about why the HCG is necessary. Eating only 500 calories a day I think would result in weight loss no matter what. She also told me she has to drink a gallon of water a day…

I have never been able to eat in moderation, so diet "rules" have never worked for me. From the time I was very little, food was associated with pleasure, family time, rewards, socializing, and emotional pain relief. Grandma was a wonderful cook, used lots of butter, and was literally my "cookie" person. After more than 50…

I am Xavier's "mom." He is an 18 month old Shih Tzu and full of energy. We rescued him from a shed after his 80 y.o. owner died suddenly. He is the one responsible for getting me WALKING again! He brings me at least a dozen laughs a day.

Yes, I remember those 50s AND 60s music ! In fact, sometimes I dance to them when I tune into that "Golden Oldies" station on my satellite TV. I wonder how many calories I burn and does it depend on the tune? LOL As for the creek rising, yes it is. Here in eastern WA state, we woke up this morning to 3" of snow preceded by…

OK... I'm taking up a 10 to 11 hr. challenge.... but I am confused. Is there a place to log in other than this "April Challenge" group? Who is Jaimie? Sorry...:ohwell:
-
I sure like him a whole lot better than some of our other so-called "Catholic" politicians.
-
I'm up for a challenge, but it must be do-a-ble for me. Realistically, I am in a VERY beginner level... like 10 hours/month. I admire and applaud your energy and enthusiasm but don't know if anyone else wants to set a goal of 10 hours/month????

If I could get to a pool, that sounds ideal. In the meantime, thank you so much for your recommendations. Good old fashioned sit ups may not sound too exciting, but probably the best choice.

Oh I so agree! I'm also fasting this Lent and am losing weight, but I need to be careful that I don't start obsessing with weight loss and NOT eating since this will also take me away from putting God at the center [sigh].

Good idea, Punkicoleman. We got a rescue Shih Tzu back in November and he is my taskmaster. Still only 16 months old, he is full of energy and MUST have a daily outing. Since I work full time, my husband (retired) takes him out for a walk every day but on weekends it's my turn. Saturday was a 30" pretty fast walk (for me…

Hello Goodwin! This group can make us all champions :flowerforyou: I have discovered that frequent feedback works best for me... so... daily logging is very important and I am eagerly awaiting my "tekky" pedometer. I'm not competitive by nature, but I have no problem competing with myself! Glad you have joined us. Stay…

We have a small group that meets once a week to watch the series. This past week we watched the session on the Eucharist. Awesome.
-
WOW. I feel like a real slug --- I'm hoping the sun comes out today so I can get out with the dog for a walk. Do you also do Yoga?
-
Welcome. I think we have the makings of a GREAT group!
-
Oh thank you Beth!
-
Oh WELCOME Punki! I think this group has tremendous potential. Fitness and health should never be the exclusive property of the young and vigorous. In fact, we probalby need it more! :-)

After many years of searching, my husband and I converted @ Easter 2008. What a wonderful decision and thank God. When I was 4 years old I went to Mass in Sacramento, CA with a neighbor (my parents were atheist and agnostic) and I believe the seeds were planted then. Sixty years later they sprouted!

For sure you get an "ATTA GIRL!" I haven't yet figured out how to get rid of my husband though who insists on eating cookies and ice cream in front of me. To his credit, he did give up the ice cream for Lent, but those cookies.....
-
Yes, at this time of year! Lent always seems to reinforce my best intentions and it helps me remember that "Man does not live by bread alone." I also hope that it will give me a "jump start" for better eating habits after Easter. This year I have joined this website as a move in the right direction. I hope. :flowerforyou:

Yes, the title sure does fit! Hope this group can get a little bigger though... sometimes if a group is too small, it disappears all together and I need some help!
-
Oh thank you. How do I find your group? I think I added you as a friend, but not sure.... if I didn't, can you send me a request?
