  • Absolutely do it! You'll have so much fun! If someone told me a couple years ago that I would not only do a mudder, but also successfully complete all the obstacles, I would have told them that they're a total nutbag. You should totally do it- you'll be amazed at what you can accomplish. Also, seeing that kind of camaderie…
  • I agree- don't worry about logging it. I also did the Buffalo mudder and had so much more fun than I thought I would. I hope you had a fantastic experience!
  • I miss being warm. I've lost 65 lbs since my peak weight, and I swear I haven't been warm since. I'm almost always cold! Unless I'm in moion actually... as soon as my blood gets flowing I'm a furnace, but if I'm sitting still I'm generally chilly. Definitely a problem I can live with, though. :)
  • Pretty active thread, eh? lol. I didn't start the program, but I think was buying new shoes at Fleet Feet when everyone was there for the initial meeting. I'm working on increasing my distance, but I have the added challenge of having two moderately arthritic knees, so I'm doing what I can with them. Fun stuff! Congrats on…
  • I couldn't possibly love this thread any more than I do! It's full of amazing, strong, brave women who are all being so supportive of each other! MORE OF THIS IN THE WORLD, PLEASE. Congrats to all of you- you look amazing!
  • Yeah, I forget about this group much of the time because people are quiet. It's ok tho, we're here. :)
  • Just turned 30 and training for a Tough Mudder in July. More friends are always good- add me if you'd like to. :)
  • Yay backpacker friends! My latest trip plan has been foiled by real life responsabilities (boo!) Need to find a new apartment! I highly recommend the VA section of the AT, across tinker cliffs and mcaffee knob.... so beautiful! The presidentials in NH are great too- definitely use the high mountain hut system if you get a…
  • If you really want to max out your sweet tooth, try 1/2 cup of low fat vanilla frozen yogurt with a Tbsp or so of honey drizzled over the top. Not calorie free, but super satisfying.
  • The only class I've ever taken is Pilates, because as a rule I really dislike classes. hehe. Good luck! :)
  • More hugs from the US! It sucks to be in a sad spot. Feeling alone and being disappointed by a relationship is pretty high on the scale of things in life that suck. I'm sorry you're going through that. Think of the positives you have, though- you're in a beautiful country (even if you feel lonely- your program could have…
  • That's fantastic. It totally just made me laugh out loud. Thanks for sharing!
  • I might have to look into that Tuesday night spinning class.... but then I'd have to choose between spinning and Susan. I'll pretty much always pick Susah. haha :) One day, though.... might have to cave and try spinning. We ladies should have a gym date sometime soon and meet up! It'd be cool to put faces and real people…
  • Ditto to the crying folks above... I may have just welled up a bit. I'm very proud of you, sir. Keep it up! I wish you all the success in the world! :)
  • I've been flirting with the idea of trying out a spinning class, but I worry that my knees won't be able to take it.
  • I thought you looked familiar! I'm pretty sure you were directly across from me in pilates last night in Susan's class. Feel free to say hello sometime! I'm Pam. I've been taking class with Susan for a couple years now... I'm still about as flexible as a log. :)
  • I LOVE the arc trainer. I've had surgery on both knees and have to be very careful with what I ask of them, but this machine has been the best option I've found for some high intensity cardio while still maintaining knee comfort. I can't recommend it enough.
  • Try making some crock pot meals? Hearty stews are easy and great. (With or without meat- think lentils, potatoes, root veggies, etc.- not sure if your son would be into that kind of thing, though) If he wants a really filling meal, he can eat it over some toasted bread or pasta (or top with a fried/ runny yolk egg) while…
  • I've gone to the same gym for over two years now and see the same set of people day in and day out. I don't know their names, and have never exchanged words with most of them. I really don't mind that. I like going to the gym because I work with people all day and I can finally just get lost in my own head and do my own…
  • This website inspires me every day. You guys rock. Thanks for being you and sharing your stories.
  • I'm so envious of people who can run. My knees will just not have any of it. I'm an avid backpacker, though, so I trade running for walking long distances for consecutive days with a 25-30lb backpack on. :) Still wish I could run...
  • I'm 5'5" and 167... goal of 155, but will most likely reevaluate once I get there and continue to 140 or so. I'm not sure where my body will be comfortable as I've always been pretty solid. A lean version of me would be cool. Feel free to add me! I'd like more friends!
  • It's funny (and actually very helpful) to see how similar everyones' lists are. My top 5 would probably be: Silk unsweetend almond milk Veggies- rotating among red romaine lettuce, brussles sprouts, napa cabbage, broccoli Dannon light and fit yogurt Bananas Ground turkey or chicken breast if I get to add a few more items…
  • No backpackers, eh? Bummer.
  • Strangely, I used to find my loneliness very motivational. I was bored, so I would go to the gym. I felt crappy about myself so I would go to the gym. If I was unhappy or mad about something, I'd go work out really hard. It helped. Now I'm in a great relationship, and the silly thing is that it really scared me at first. I…
  • Yup, my doctor is the next step.
  • I drink LOTS of water. I'm certain that hydration isn't a problem. I've never really had any heartburn until I started in with the calorie counting and smaller portions. I'm not really eating anything different, I'm just eating less of it. Not quite sure what's going on...
  • Which RAC do you go to? I do Tues. and Thursday night pilates classes at Henrietta and Pittsford, respectively, with Susan because she rocks. I lift at the Greece Ridge mall location on my non- pilates 3rd gym day of the week. I guess I'm getting my money worth out of the gym. :) And yeah, high 5 Rochester! Small, but…
  • I can't believe no one has said Pilates yet. For me, there is absolutely no better feeling than taking an hour long traditional Pilates class. No weights, bands, blocks or other gear. Just you and gravity. It's my favorite workout-induced high. I also like lifting free weights. Maybe I just like exercises that make you…
  • Yup... I'd go too. Even if you totally half-*kitten* it, getting in the door is a good thing. That alone will keep you in the habit. If you're feeling like garbage 20 minutes into working out you can always decide to leave. At least you gave it a shot!
