  • Regarding warm ups, the StrongLifts program recommends: Warm up 1 = 1x5 using 33% of your working weight Warm up 2 = 1x5 using 33% of your working weight Warm up 3 = 1x3 using 66% of your working weight Working weight 5x5 Only exception is deadlifts: Warm up 1 = 1x5 using 33% of your working weight Warm up 2 = 1x5 using…
  • Try the book Brain over Binge.
  • Fat typically comes off all your body, it is difficult to target certain parts such as your belly. Use Fitness Pal to track your calorie intake and do cardio to burn the fat. It will come off. Google StrongLifts 5x5 and Starting Strength for two great beginner programs. Strength training is key to keeping your muscle and…
  • I looked at your diary. First off, you are doing great in keeping with your calorie goals. My girlfriend had a problem similar to yours in that she was losing very slowly or not at all at MFP's recommended 1200 calories. I don't believe all the "starvation" theories touted on these forums but do believe too few calories…
  • 1. Nickelback 2. Def Leppard 3. ZZ Top
  • I looked at your food log and noticed you usually eat 2 meals a day consisting of breakfast (190 calories), a high calorie lunch (930 calories) and high calorie snacks (760 calories) loaded with fat such as peanut butter and cheese. Try adjusting your goals (custom) and increasing your protein to 30%, fat to 20% and carbs…
  • Assuming you would prefer to gain more muscle than fat, I've heard that carbs late at night are more likely to turn into fat since your body doesn't need much fuel while sleeping. I would try to spread them out evenly throughout your first 6 meals and cut back a couple hours before bed (last 2 meals?).
  • How many times do you eat during the day?
  • Your food intake does look healthy with good variety. Eating 6 times a day is excellent. Have you considered replacing the skim milk with whole milk? Drinking a few glasses of whole milk each day could help add some calories.
  • http://www.stronglifts.com Free to sign up and get a report and a spreadsheet to help track your workouts. StrongLifts is a simple but effective program. It only requires you to workout three days a week and is progressive meaning you start light to perfect form and add weight each workout. Note: Access to a power rack and…
  • I would suggest using MFP to track calories. He can set his goal weight and MFP will suggest how many calories he needs to consume on a daily basis to meet his goals. I also suggest a weight lifting program such as StrongLifts 5x5. Both of you can work together to meet your goals and eat cleanly, only difference is he will…
  • I have the urethane PowerBlock 90's and really like them. There is no other dumbbell that equals their quality and compactness, but they are VERY expensive. If you are serious about using them and believe you "get what you pay for" then I recommend them. You can save a little money if you have a military friend who can…
  • Saw Nickelback in concert in Atlanta. Absolute best rock show I have EVER seen and I've been to many concerts. Never heard of Josh Gross, (guy who wrote article) but he obviously doesn't understand the appeal of a great rock show. Going to ZZTop / Three Doors Down on Sunday and Def Leppard / Poison later in June.
