keep at it. 20 lbs will definitely make a difference. You might not notice the change as much as others do though.

My family has a history of health problems that I would like to avoid. I used to be more athletic, and want to do the things I used to be able to do. I want to be able to do things that I never used to be able to do on top of that.

Your muscles at the start of any training program will actually adapt. You are training them to lift more with the muscles you already have, rather than building more muscle. It's called Neural Adaptation, and you can read up about it at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neural_adaptation If you are actually eating more…

Don't beat yourself up about it. Today is a new day. Make it be just a blip on the graph. You're in this for the long run, so if the graph goes in the right direction in the long run, then you're good. Have another good month (or two or three...)

I'm 290 at current, and running 5k 3 times a week. I'm not the fastest (about 35 minutes for 5 k ), but that can come after the weight comes off. I haven't had any problems so far with joints, and maybe I'm lucky. I started with C25K about 4 years ago, did it for a while, lost some weight, then got too busy with excuses on…

I'm not saying that something is wrong with me. I'm saying that I don't know much about heart rate, and wanted to ask other people who know more than I do what they think.

update: I've called my doctor to book an appointment.

This is a good decision. I went to Mexico, wasn't in the best shape of my life, and had a great time. I'm sure nobody thought twice about seeing me. Good sunblock is a must. Congratulations on your recent nuptials.

You do need to eat more. When you start walking or jogging, make sure to eat those calories as well. You want to keep your daily calorie deficit in the right range, because eating too little calories can be quite unhealthy. It sounds like you're determined to do this, and that's great. I wouldn't worry about what the scale…

THANK YOU for posting this. I've got one in the mail.

You should be happy for yourself, not embarrassed. Keep small goals in close periods of time to keep you motivated. You're 2/3rds of the way to 20 lbs lost! That's a significant victory on its own. Keep up the good work.

I found that any sort of non-dairy creamer would give me heartburn on a regular basis. For me the 5% cream is where it's at. I'm down to about 1-2 tablespoons in a large coffee.

I've been working on running for just under a year. I've lost some weight, so I'm down to 252 and I'm running a 27 minute 5k. I started running with Couch to 5 K and minimalist shoes right from the get go. I use Puma Street K shoes that I picked up for $38 at the puma outlet. I also read a lot about POSE running, and…

It does seem that everyone has an opinion on how do to absolutely anything, whether they know what they're talking about or not. There also isn't really a best way to do anything. Just what's going to work for you.

I can tell you're going to do well.

It's a help. I use it now, because I wasn't doing a good job of assesing the right amount of food on my own without help. When I get to the my proper weight, and have done maintenance for a while, I'm sure that I will be able to eyeball the correct amounts of foods. Some day I won't be logging every calorie, but now I am.

You can run as if you're barefoot with shoes on as well. Check out POSE running. I purchased some very minimal shoes, and made sure to start out slowly and carefully, and I haven't had a hint of an injury. I started running when I was around 290 or so lbs, but running properly has saved my joints. My calfs were quite sore…

Try Tabata intervals on a rowing machine.
