  • I am the same if I have carbs then weight loss is very very slow. It has taken me since feb 2004 to go from 222 lb to my current 135. As I am exercising intensely my carbs are higher at mo, as objective is to build muscle. Next month will try to get rid of fat so carbs way down. The closer I get to my goal the harder it…
  • Can add chopped sundried tomatoes. I make my own from canned organic chickpeas and tahini in a blender. Or add dill and lemon with a pinch of sea salt.
  • The most important thing is the strength of the bones. Good exercise increases bone mass (density) and this is good framework for the muscles to work against. Been told vibrio helps bone strength. Jasmin
  • Absolutely amazing achievement. Especially with the obstacles to exercise you have overcome. Very humbling for me. Enjoy BBQ and flattery by your friends - you have earned every delicious moment. Jasmin
  • When I was travelling a lot I bought a pair of water contain weights, kept in a waterproof bag. These are filled from the tap in your hotel room. I also ripped a couple of programmes to my iPad. But now there are apps and most hotels have wifi for downloading but often not in rooms. Also used an exercise band taking three…
  • Strength is partly about nervous stimulation and muscle linkage resistance. http://ukpmc.ac.uk/abstract/MED/3055145 Neural adaptations to resistive exercise: mechanisms and recommendations for training practices. Thus one can increase strength without increasing muscle size, by using explosive overload techniques in the…
  • Sorry duplicate post:cry:
  • Same weight (1 lb) but muscle is denser than fat: just as feathers are more volume than bricks. I would rather have 10 lbs muscle than 10 of fat. This site is about fitness ( myfitnesspal) not weight loss or fat loss. How could a body build muscle on twinkies? It needs essential amino acids to reshape. Exercised Muscle…
  • The change could the mix of carbs! Atkins prefers slow release carbs to simple sugars. You may need to rethink the type of carbs you are eating and when you are eating them. Are you adding synthetic sweeteners like aspartamine? They can cause tiredness. Enough liquid? Jasmin
  • I would have been deeply threatened and then quietly with disquiet completed my workout then left shaking. How horrible an experience for you, well for most gals irrespective of age, size or fitness. Sad you had to go through this and it isn't very amusing. Jasmin
  • Feel free to add me, if I meet your criteria. Jasmin
  • When I had cancer and wanted to stay cheerful- a friend sent it saying that is how she saw me- healthy. It is my logo. Jasmin
  • So pretty when you smile! That loss will make you smile. Fantastic.......
  • If you have lost some weight and are on your journey- please post your pictures- it is so motivating for you and for the rest of us. we have all been shy about our success Jasmin
  • Neither would I if I were you! Amazing Jasmin
  • I use a fitbit and it logs all my movement and counts my burn. It encourages me to move more on rest days without the stress of extensive exercise. Raised my overall activity and was able to up my total daily value. Intended to up my sedentary activity to light and light to moderate. You can do this by getting a step…
  • Protein powder Is made of protein, but it is heavily processed. You could eat more complete natural protein instead, such as some smoked salmon or chicken breast. Also quality varies in protein powders, bars and shakes. Many have additives, fillers and are cheap sources of incomplete amino acid balance. Therefore it…
  • From zero to hero! YOU DID IT!
  • Must try this Thanks all
  • Beans, beans, beans
  • Well done on your first week, your plan looks ok to me. Fantastic start to your journey. In the longer term you may want to up your calories and add more exercise. Most of us concern ourselves with our calorie goal I think, too much: too little: wrong mix: too much of x too little of y. Especially to start with. Etc etc…
  • Thank you to my new friends. Was feeling lonely out here...... Jasmin
  • Strength training will add muscle to fill out the skin. Improving circulation will help with collagen repair and make the skin 'plumper'. It takes up to 2 years for elastin to repair itself. Hydration will help with appearance of the skin. Elastin is a long complex molecule made of amino acids. There are several types of…
  • Skin stretches, it contains a molecule called elastin. If the skin stretches too much the elastin breaks and the elasticity has gone. This happens at 40% fat. The skin will show tear marks or stretch marks. Skin can also 'grow' beyond 40%. This varies by person though and fat distribution. Thus some have excess skin on…
  • I No I 'll vote for that, I want my partner to want..... :blushing: :blushing: :blushing:
  • I confess like Llynn, I wash each time I wear any item in a machine but everything is air dry. I will even change shirts, bras and socks between back to back uworkouts. The exercise towels get changed and the sports bras. I perspire too much so clothing chafes when wet. I don't shower at the gym unless I have to go out. I…
  • What a fantastic achievement. Truly wonderful
  • A minor adjustment to my earlier post. In order to build muscle, there has to be essential amino acid in the diet. Good quality protein is needed to build and repair muscle. Even if a diet was well in surplus if these essential building blocks aren't there at the right time muscle can't be built. They might be stolen from…
  • From the back I look like 24% from the front 30% No spare on my arms legs or butt, but on the tum!,,,, Jasmin
