  • Irish oatmeal (pin oats)...made with almond milk and a bit of real vanilla. I add in peanut butter and honey to eat. Very good!
  • My son made this Chocolate Mousse, as served at the Ocean Reef Club in Key Largo. I gave it to someone who refused to eat advocados, and she loved it! Skip the sugar and chocolate chips.... http://honestcooking.com/2012/05/21/avocado-chocolate-mousse-with-citrus-twist/
  • PowerBar Protein-Plus reduced sugar and a full glass of water. Get some. ;-) http://www.amazon.com/PowerBar-Protein-Reduced-Chocolate-2-46-Ounce/dp/B000ABAYP0/ref=sr_1_1?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1339275027&sr=1-1
  • Not into the Utilikilts look, but my heritage is Scottish, so I might wear my family's tartan with some combat boots. Check out http://www.usakilts.com/ The sport kilt looks good...and some of the utilikilts are growing on me. If you're a vet, the military tartans are cool--we could wear kilts in Air Force for formal…
  • Yeah...play it with him. Battlefield 3 is much better, though. ;-) I really do use it to play with my kids, wherever they are, and be able to talk on headsets when they are away. Gotta get time wherever they are, and get into what they are into, and have fun!

  • My friends have had great experience with BikesDirect, both the serious racer friends, and the hybrid cruiser riders. This is what I want for my bday. http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/cafe_express8.htm
  • I did it for a while, and felt great, and lost weight. My ulcerative colitis even went away. I found it very hard to maintain, though, and it was basically a very low carb diet. I think I'll get the book out, again, and at least stay away from the negative foods. It did seem to improve health, mood, and stabilize blood…
  • I could have sworn that said Dr. Cranky at the bottom...
  • My chest strap is intermittent AFTER I wash it. I go back and clean the contact areas with alcohol, now, and it's fine. Must be a soap film, or something.
  • Gotta make time for each other, too, if you want to stay married--kids need both parents. I try to avoid becoming overly obsessed with the fitness thing to where other important parts of life suffer. I find exercise I can do at home, and the kids are supportive of that time, or they become involved in the exercise with me,…
  • I'm in Maryland, and my boys want to do one of these soon...but i'll have to wait for the funds (and for them to be out of school). May do one in PA or Michigan....
  • Definitely adjust your activity level up in MFP to keep up the strength and metabolism. I raised mine up from "sedentiary", increased protein, and I wish I did it a long time ago. I can feel the extra boost to my metabolism, again. :-)

  • Stevia in the raw....hate it, it's bitter. I'll stick with natural raw honey. :-)
  • Strength training right before cardio is supposed to give the fat-burning a big boost. I find it does help me row a lot harder...seems to be working.
  • That sounds about right, actually. It varies widely, depending on what you're doing. Weightlifting doesn't burn as many calories because you're generally focusing on few muscles at a time, as opposed to cardio, where you're generally working large muscle groups nonstop, and moving the weight of the whole body.
  • Depends what your goal is--bulk or tone. Generally, if you want muscletone, endurance, and to contribute to fatburning cardio, go for the higher number of reps to feel the burn, and concentrate on the muscles being worked, in both directions. If you are looking to build bigger muscles, now that the layer of bodyfat over…
  • Yes, the HRM sounds right...and will certainly be more accurate than the average in MFP database--your HRM is actually measuring something. Your heart rate was probably high up there, and getting a great workout. As you get used to it, and your body gets more efficient, you probably won't be burning as many calories, or…
  • The plain old grocery store -- Food Lion...in the spice/marinade section. Enjoy!
  • This is a pretty good explanation. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/10589-for-those-confused-or-questioning-eating-your-exercise-calo But, if I was losing a steady 2 lbs/week, I would not change a thing. As you get closer to your goal, things will change, though, and it will be harder to keep that up without…
  • I agree....just plan for it. Get half of it with just veggie toppings, or something, and put some slices in the freezer. I get a mediterranean pizza, occasionally (white pizza with spinach, feta, etc), and fill up on plain salad and water, before I get it. I put slices in the fridge, then freeze, right away, for another…
  • way too much carbs...puts me back to sleep (and hungry for more carbs...)
  • College ball is so much better, anyway. They aren't lazy multi-millionnaires, yet. :grumble: Hockey is always good (but again, college hockey, up close and personal, is much better/faster).
  • Peanut butter and honey, almond butter, lowfat cottage cheese....all good for you, and satisfying!
  • My doctor at the Veteran's Administration puts it this way--to lose the fat, you need to cut down on carbs, and increase protein (to build more muscle which enables you to burn more cals). A good rule of thumb if you're exercising, is 1g protein per pound of GOAL body weight per day. So if you're trying to get to 125,…
  • It can, but I wouldn't say it's definite. Depends on how much you ingest, adequate water intake, and a lot of other things. -- There are so many reports on both sides. Personally, I place the most "weight" in how the stuff makes me feel over time (and how my smart pharmacist friend scientifically explains it). I feel…
  • Water is water...doesn't matter whether you mix it with something in your cup, or in your stomach...it's all going to the same place. Now, the caffeine effects, undigestible oils, artificial sweeteners...those are different issues on the bod. Probably should drink extra water to make up for the additional sodium and…
  • Yeah...plus penalties, late fees, and the automatic sky-high penalty interest rate. The damage is done...but it didn't effect my clearance. Maybe Congress will reimburse us out of their pay raises? :explode: How many calories is this burning? Prayers out to ALL of you...
  • It depends how you row. I do it every day for weightloss by going for time and distance. It's a full-body workout, exercising all the large muscle groups. If/when I do sprint training, or a strength training profile, I would put rest days in between. RowPro creates a pretty good training plan with your goals in mind, but I…
