Sounds pretty gimmicky in some aspects to me. This is just some guy who wants to take your money.
Some of their causes are complete B.S.:
-Wrong eating for your body type
-Claiming that you can not burn fat during exercise
-Low-potassium foods--people with actual potassium deficiency have genuine metabolic disorders. Potassium inusfficiency is not caused by insufficient intake of potassium unless you are on some whacky sort of starvation or single-food diet.
-Dieting over cravings or hunger--cravings are psychological, so I don't think turning down that cupcake is doing you any harm. Similarly. most people with weight problems couldn't properly read hunger or satiety signals if their lives depended on it.
-Protein consumption--dubious at best.
-Poor enzyme consumption- your body produces enzymes....although I do agree with cutting out as much processed food as possible
-Hidden fluid retainers-yes on sodium, no on artificial sweeteners
-Gland inhibitors--possibly some merit, but not the way it's explained in this advertising poster.
So that leaves what, three causes that have some merit? :laugh:0 -

Doesn't make it any less interesting.
Some of the things you have said is actually wrong though.
I have read from multiple sources and I pretty much worship women's health.
They have talked about different exercises and meal plans for different body types ALL the time. That is not a gimmick. Especially when it comes to losing weight. The same thing often does work for the same people, but sometimes it doesn't, and that can be the reason behind it.
Pertaining to your comments upon cravings- some people can't tell when they're hungry.0 -
I have to agree with being a little skeptical. This disclaimer is also at the bottom of the website:
"Disclaimer: The dietary and other substances, and/or materials, equipment or devices discussed on this site may not have undergone evaluation and/or testing by the United States Food and Drug Administration or like agency of any other country. Risks that might be determined by such testing are unknown."0 -
That's not saying it's necessarily wrong or anything though.0

Women's Health magazine is not doing tightly controlled, well-constructed studies on those 'body-type' diets now, are they?
Magazines want to sell advertising and increase circulation. They are not scientific journals. There's no reason to believe Women's Health over The Enquirer. They both have the same end-goal, which is not education, truth or scientific rigor.0 -
I could have sworn that said Dr. Cranky at the bottom... :laugh:0

i believe in some of them.
eating for your body type for one. i know that a high carb diet for me goes straight to belly fat.
stress for another. i watched my mom gain weight only in the stomach watching her husband die of prostate cancer.
preservatives and artificial sugar. i look at the ingredients in food and look around me at what people are eating and see a direct coorelation, especially 'low fat' items.
hormones. they play a HUGE part in weight gain/loss.
some of it may be gimmicky, but i'll bet it is an interesting seminar.0
