  • There is nothing medically wrong with working out with that high of a heart rate, it is just more of a cardio workout than a burn fat calorie workout. Working out with a higher heart rate still burns a lot of calories so you should still see progress on our weight loss.
  • Maybe get a pedometer to measure how many steps you take during the day. This could help you track how far you are walking. They have a few different kinds that you can get depending on how much money you want to spend, but a simple one that you clip on your waist would work fine.
  • Welcome! I have loved using this tool. I haven't used it as much as I should, and I'm working on fixing that. But it is a very informative site. Make sure you understand how the calorie counting works. It is important that you pay attention to that net amount. A lot of people try to speed up their weight loss by cheating…

  • I think the type of weight training they mean to have you do is heavy weights where you are actually tearing muscle and rebuilding it. When I started my weight loss I only did aerobic exercise for about a year. I made progress, but when I started doing heavy weight training (three sets of 10 reps on machines) at the end of…
  • You say you're under your calorie limit. This can be bad and actually slow your weight loss. The goal is to meet that net number that they calculated for you. That will optimize your weight loss. If you are not meeting that net calorie goal then you are probably putting your body into starvation mode. Your metabolism will…
  • I am at the exact same point as you! I'm floating right around 150. As soon as I get down to 148 it pops back up again! I've been trying to think of ways to motivate myself too. I just bought some new workout clothes and it has helped a bit. It kind of refreshes your workout at the gym when you have new cute things to…
  • I haven't looked at your journal yet, but I noticed that you mentioned your diet a lot but didn't mention your exercise routine. One major factor when a person stalls with weight loss is that your body will get used to your workout routine. If you do the same workouts over and over, eventually they will stop having as…
  • I haven't tried any of her workout DVD's yet, (I am also thinking about getting one) but I really think kickboxing is a lot of fun for at home workouts. It just doesn't seem to get as boring as fast as some of the more mundane body sculpt videos, but personal preference also plays a lot into what workout DVDs will work…
  • I love using fruit with any breakfast food as it is tasty, healthy and packed with nutrients your body needs. My favorite healthy breakfast food is oatmeal. The best part of eating oatmeal is you can add variety by changing up the types of nuts and fruits you add to it, so it doesn't get boring as fast as eating the exact…
  • I'm not an expert, but I would ask your doctor about WHY you are deficient. Taking supplements might solve your deficiency but it wouldn't fix whatever is causing it. I know cushing's syndrome causes vitamin D deficiency, and there are probably other diseases out there that do the same.
  • Whenever I have signed up for a race it has only motivated me more and made my workouts more exciting because each week I would be that much closer to being ready for the race! I think it can go both ways though, it probably depends on how you look at it. I would sign up for it and keep an optimistic look at the situation.…
  • In MyFitnessPal their recommendation is not how many calories you eat per day, but your Net Calories per day. That is (for you) 1200. So you are actually supposed to consume 1200 calories a day, plus however many calories you burned working out Example: you go to the gym and burn 300 calories on the elliptical. You then…
  • A few pounds could easily be contributed to water weight. Make sure you weigh at the same time every day if you want an accurate reading. Alcohol is really high in calories so it is a good decision not to binge drink with your friends. Good for you for making that choice. And it is because you can make choices like that…
  • Hi! It sounds like that at least what you do eat is generally pretty healthy. One of my favorite fish dishes is Tilopia. It is a white fish and can be prepared in a variety of ways. My favorite: heat a little bit of olive oil in a skillet and cook the fillet until it is solid white in the middle, flipping only once. Season…
  • It has less calories than peanut butter...weigh the odds, peanut butter probably has more nutrients, but it can be just as dangerous because it is so high in calories...as for a Nutella Peanut Butter sandwich, that is a horrible idea
