I'm turning 53 in July and have been trying to lose weight. Was doing well until I quit smoking two months ago and packed on 25 lbs. so am back to where I started before my MFP journey. Did a 3-mile heart walk the beginning of May and next weekend I am doing a quarter marathon walk. Something like 6.5 miles. I have a group…

This! Allow yourself a cheat day will help too.

Yes, started dismantling it yesterday. Hope to finish today as it is/was a live tree and is losing needles.:ohwell:

Just pick a day of the week and weigh yourself when you get up in the morning. Just remember the scale is just a number. Being fit is what really matters.

I know what you mean. I had lost 26 lbs and gained 9 back. My wakeup call was my annual physical, Blood sugar was high as well as total cholesterol and tryglicerides. Have a family history of heart disease and diabetes so I need to get back on track or go on medication. Holidays are always bad as everyone brings deliscious…

Thanks for this post. Been having a bit of a pity party lately because of relationship issues. Decided to put an end to it and get on with my life because I deserve better!

This. I've lost pounds but the inches is what boosts my self-esteem and keeps me going. I can look down and not see my tummy but my toes!

Absolutely amazing. What an inspiration for us all. I hope I can look that good someday!

Greatest feeling in the world when others notice the weight loss no matter where you're at on this journey. Great job on your loss!

I used to drink 2 or 3 sodas a day. Now I am content with water. Soda consumption now is diet and maybe 2 or 3 a week if I am in the mood for it. Don't miss it at all. I no longer keep chips and salty snacks in the house except for an occasional bag of pretzels. Fruits and veggies are my snack of choice.

192,478 Steps since last checkin. That's 98 miles since last post. Gotta move it to lose it. Weather's been really hot, so I probably would have had more.

7/7-10628 steps between work and housework 7/8-40 minute walk in the morning before it gets to warm

Didn't walk today because of heat and waiting for plumber. Did do some heavy lifting(furniture and stuff) getting ready for plumber. Still got in over 5000 steps
-
Sweated it out on walk today for 35 minutes with high humidity and 75 degrees before 7AM. Added a few hills too.

Great job! Proves that you are on the right track and have really changed for the better. I have days where nothing satisfies me and eat garbage and feel guilty, but get back on track the next day.

Today I walked for 50 minutes between the thunderstorm and the heat wave. It's been 90 degrees or above all week with no relief in sight til next week.
-
I would say 15-20. I lost first in upper body, but got a nice surprise of over 4 inches off waist when I had a new waist measurement taken after 5 months.
-
Walked 40 minutes yesterday @ 3.5 MPH pace.
-
Count me in. Goal is 10,000 steps a day using a pedometer.

 Congrats. TOO FUNNY! Love a good duct tape story. Keep up the good work.
