I used to pay 130 to 150 a pair when I was heavier and buying shoes with more padding. Now I run with Sacony Kinarva's and think I got the last pair on Amazon for 80 dollars. They have less padding, but I really don't need or want that anymore.

I think you will be fine, Just don't over train like others said. You will get a boost just being part of the race pack imo. Good luck ! Running a Half or Full in DC is one of my long term goals.

You look great, good job !

I would say you probably ran too fast for the distance for you if you are that sore. You should always feel like you could run another mile if you had to. IMO, you are setting yourself up to quit or get hurt if you keep pushing yourself so hard so quickly.

Congrats, that's awesome :)

Congratz :) I know I still have to remind myself that I am not the fat guy anymore.
-
Congrats. Running has changed my life the same it sounds it did for you. Great acomplishment.
-
Awsome. Congratz. I remember thinking I could never run 30 minutes straight when I started C25k. (I ran 11 miles today )

I read on facebook my cousin who has MS ran 8 miles on a "training" run. At the time, I had never ran a mile in my life. This motivated me to start the Couch 2 5k and 3 years later I just ran my first full marathon. I couldn't imagine not running now.

I sent you a friend request. Always looking for more running friends to share tips with and cheer each other on.

I just started trying this myself this week. I am still counting calories and am only doing it 5 days a week. (The 2 days I am not, are my long run day and my long strength workout day) I don't see how it could be unhealthy, unless you think you can pig out like crazy and still expect to lose weight. I am a active runner…

I have lost 175 pounds and am an avid runner now. I got called out by everyone in my family one day about how insane I was for ordering and eating a large fry at Wendys. I felt after running 8 miles that day, I could afford to have a large fry that one time lol. I think people believe I just starve myself and are shocked…

I used the Couch to 5k program to start running myself. I could barely run 10 minute miles for my first 5k. Then I ran a 1/2 marathon and every training session and the race, I ALWAYS ran 10 minute miles. Then I ran another 1/2 marathon and suprised myself with running 9 minute miles. Then I ALWAYS ran 9 minute miles. Then…

What you have done already is an amazing acomplishment. If my spouse acomplished what you did, I would be bragging to anyone that would listen. Does he tell you how proud he is of you and your acomplishments? If he isn't proud of you, you deserve better imo.
-
how long does it take you to run a mile/km? My fastest mile is 7 mins 2 seconds. I have been running 5k and 10k distances with an average of 8 min/miles. how many miles/km do you usually do? Depends, I am trying to let my body rest some this winter after running my first full marathon. As the weather gets better I usually…

A Cheetah. I got to see one run at the Cincinnati zoo last year, was the coolest thing I have ever seen in my lifetime.
-
Amazing, you look great :)
-
I'd tell them Thank you and you should accept your acomplishment and be happy :) As for how you did it, I always start out telling people it wasn't easy and basically say what you said about diet and exersize. If they laugh, then oviously they aren't ready to get serious about their weightloss as you have.
-
I struggled for many years before losing weight. I've lost 175 pounds, feel free to add me if you want.
-
NM. can't figure out how to post the stupid pictures.

Great Job !
-
I'd do the race. There will still be alot of people there and maybe you will make a new friend. My experience has been other runners are mostly friendly to other runners, even ones they don't know. Good luck !
-
Great Job. I bet you felt great coming across that finish line. Keep up the good work !
-
I've ran in 5 degree weather before. After the weight I've lost, I could care less if people think I look silly doing so. As others said, it's just important to dress appropriately. Good luck :)
-
Great Job, you look great. I am sure your husband is very proud of your acomplishment. :)
-
Awsome, great job !

Awsome, great job man !

Thanks for all the replys. I am using a steel hybrid now myself and it pretty much sucks, so I am sure whatever I get will be better. I could wait till after xmas if that is really when the deals are best.
-
Thanks, I keep reading in magizines that I you should buy new to have it fitted/tuned like you said. I just take what I read in a magazine with some grain of salt cause I wonder how much they print is being motivated by the advertisers. Guess I will look into deals for a new one. I would have no problem taking last years…

Great, Good luck with the C25k. Don't worry about the speed for your first 5k, just worry about finishing. That's the thing I love about runners, is usually everyone is supports other runners and it's all about beating your personal best. You will be suprised at how fast you can start running longer at one time.
