  • Avoid sweet food. For me this seems to be the biggest determining factor of causing hunger. Typically I'll have eggs & bacon for breakfast (@6am) and coffee w/cream & coconut oil. If I add a little honey to my coffee I'll get hungry around 11am. If I avoid the honey I could easily forget about food until 12-1pm.
  • Did you mean ketosis or did you really mean ketoacidosis?!?! If one is suffering from ketoacidosis then there are bigger problems than blood ph!
  • For what its worth I've read that some people with egg intolerances' are actually intolerant to soy. Since the majority of chicken feed contains soy (since it is so cheap from federal subsidies) it makes it's way into the eggs and can cause people problems.
  • I do dairy fat. and fermented dairy: Butter, cheese, cream, yogurt, kefir, etc. I think the biggest thing with dairy is to make sure you get quality dairy. If you can find fresh, raw, grass fed dairy you should be able to enjoy it with out guilt. Otherwise strive to get the best quality you can. I use the site…
  • I'm in the same boat as you. My wife and I have always strived to be healthy. At various points in our relationship we've both lost weight but we've always gained it back. Despite the fact that we would alway look for healthy options like low-calorie selections, low-fat & skim milk for breakfast with high-fiber kashi…
  • The more successful low-carb diets are High Fat, moderate protein, low carb. High protein diets usually aren't very healthy long term. I highly recommend listening to this pod cast with Dr. Ron Rosedale http://livinlavidalowcarb.com/blog/ask-the-low-carb-experts-episode-2-all-things-leptin-leptin-101-dr-ron-rosedale/12943…
  • I'd highly recommend checking out the site http://www.cholesterol-and-health.com/ the owner of the site is Chris Masterjohn who is a newly minted Doctor of Nutritional Science. If you read through his site and blog you'll learn why eating cholesterol is actually extremely important for health. Cholesterol is one of the…
  • Well, this may not be an active group but at least it's nice to know there are few people here into the WAPF nutrition.
  • The best appetite suppressant I've come across is heavy whipping cream, butter, and coconut oil!
  • Hi all! I'm new here and have been poking around a bit the past few days. I'd like to add to this thread in a more positive way. There was a long span where I too thought low-carb Atkins type diets were simply unhealthy gimmicks to reduce calories. Most, if not all, of us were probably anti-low carb at some point in the…
  • MsMo, The Primal Blueprint suggests that veggies should be the bulk of the diet by volume and meat should be the bulk of the diet by calories.
  • Interesting conversation going on here! I'm new to this site and like this back and forth exchange! I have my own two cents which I'll post up later :-)
  • I have some red hawaiian sea salt I keep at work... yum!
  • Here is an interesting write up on salt, basically saying that real salt is good and healthy but the processed salt isn't healthy at all. http://wellnessmama.com/3745/is-salt-healthy
  • I've been trying to avoid soybean oil as it isn't a really healthy oil to be eating. I've actually been making my own mayo and it has turned out really good!
