I like to make a big pan of roasted vegetables (whatever I have- this weeks was carrots, Brussels sprouts, onions, zucchini. Squash, green beans). I roast with balsamic vinegar, olive oil, red cooking wine, Dijon, garlic, and herbs. Then I cook several pieces of tilapia with Cajun seasoning. I take a fillet of tilapia and…

First, while I had babies (and I mean BABIES- waking up every 2 hours), I was NOT a morning person. Now, however, I am up at 4:30 am each day except for Sunday. Do I choose this out of necessity? Yes. Not only because several of the days I have to leave for work at 6:30, but the other days I LOVE being finished by 6. My…

Find a running partner. Get the word out that you are looking for someone to run with. Someone knows someone who wants to run too. I had a similar experience once- running by myself right before dawn on a country road. I saw a van pull up about 1/2 mile ahead of me and stop. No one getting out, and NO reason to be there.…

My food scale is by far the best investment I have ever made (as well as my HRM). I have a SALTER and absolutely love it. I weigh just about everything. Although I have only been on MFP for a couple months, I have used my scale daily for a long, long time. Maybe I am a little addicted because I want to know exactly how…

I was so addicted to sugar that I would get spoonfuls of brown sugar and just eat it plain. I know, gross huh? I had to completely have NO sugar for about a week. The first few days were miserable. Then it got easier. I haven't had much sugar in months, and I don't crave it AT ALL now. I do have a treat about once per…

First time EVER I have done weights. Worth every penny. the weight is coming off really slow (.5-1 pound per week), but my body shape is changing. I still have…

My brother was very overweight when he decided to jog outside for the first time. A jeep full of teenagers drove by and threw an apple at him and yelled "RUN FAT BOY RUN!" He was devastated. How cruel those teenagers were! However, it gave him the fuel to keep running, and running, and running. In the last year he has lost…

I was exactly where you are a couple of years ago. I couldn't even jog ONE lap around the track. For a New Years resolution I decided that I would run a 5k. I started that day. In May of that year (5 months and 13 days later), I finished my first 1/2 marathon in 2 hours and 10 minutes. Since then I have ran 5 more, with my…

Heres one more.... You can totally do this! One step, one mile at a time.

Stick to the plate method: 1/2 of your plate is veggies, 1/4 of your plate is a lean protein, and 1/4 of your plate is ONE serving of a healthy carb (brown rice, 100% whole wheat bread, quinoa, millet, etc). Your body needs carbs to function- but not the white stuff, the healthy stuff. Every meal or snack I try to do the…
