  • When I first started yoga 3 years ago I was a mess I was overweight and had various injuries, the worst one being my back which was pretty much immobile... if I dropped my keys it was a struggle to pick them up. Every single pose along the way has been an achievement! Recently I have been stoked to nail my free floor hand…
  • I don't use MFP much any more but I sent you a friend request.
  • You just have to do them over and over and over..... Balance takes a long time to learn, especially if you have to build the strength for it at the same time. But hand balances can be the most rewarding and fun thing to practice so stick with it!
  • This is going to sound crazy to most other Yogi's... But I have been drinking a "Bulletproof Coffee" about an hour before practice (or any other physical activity). I try not to eat anything solid for 2 or 3 hours before practice. My spin on bullet proof coffee is: - 1 or 2 shots of espresso. (If its in the evening I use a…
  • Yoga I what keeps me from falling apart due to my other activities; weights and dragon boating. Yoga has been a huge help with my lower back which has always been stiff and sore for no reason my whole life. I have some other injuries but the only one that really gets in my way is a separated shoulder (torn…
  • I would love to do the 100km trail blazer but I have a bad knee on one leg and a bad ankle on the other that will make it hard. Maybe after some serious re-hab I could consider it if you still need a team.
  • Yep, I totally burnt out training for dragon boating =/ I have had 3 weeks off all exercises apart from some light yoga, I hope to get back to it all in a couple of week time but it will be slow going. My knee should come good before the shoulder so I think some cycling to start then I will slowly work my way back into the…
  • Hi, Currently living in Mawson Lakes... for all of 2 more days then heading back to my old stoping grounds in the north east suburbs. I have been on MFP for over a year now, I kind of made fitness my life but I’m sidelined at the moment with a bad knee and shoulder. Happy to be added.
  • susheetush: Down on their luck musicians
  • 50g Whey protein and 100g pure glucose shake after every workout. Best used right after 3x1 minute max effort sprints on the rowing machine to really trigger glycogen super-compensation.
  • Negatives! Eccentric contractions are pretty much the best movement type for strengthening a muscle. Jump up to the bar or step off a chair then lower your self as slowly as you can, do 5 sets of 3 reps every second day and you will be doing a chin up in a few weeks. When you find you can do a pull up do as many as you can…
  • It may have been a small difference but it was not that different, I was tracking pretty maliciously back then. I have done a lot of self experimenting since then, the verdict; I quite simply cant eat carbs, my body's preference is to store them as fat leaving me less energy to burn for day to day stuff and all my…
  • Personally, I think Subway was responsible for my first plateau half way though 2012. I was making great progress eating nothing but lean meat and veg 3~4 times a day, but I got quite time poor and starting buying lunch each day... Subway. I was eating the exact same number of calories but I stalled and even gained some…
  • Single for one year and happier then I have ever been in my life. It was hard and first but things just keep getting better and better.
  • What type of pain is it? If it’s DOMS I find light exercise helps a lot. If you have strained, pulled or torn something then rest!
  • I started Dragon Boating (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragon_boat) after I injured my ankle at the start of the year. Its totally addictive, even after the ankle improved I stayed on, I am even trying out for our state team :)
  • I will be at the Adleaide one...
  • Don’t use them!.. I can’t say for sure but I think they are largely responsible for the tendinitis I developed in my ankles early this year. I was wearing them all day long under my jeans though... Talk to a physio therapist or exercise physiologist first before if you still want to give them a shot.
  • @Someonesomeplace: Love the one with the green dress! Hot!
  • Lifting weights puts a lot of stress on the body, both the central nervous system and hormonal regulation are effected along with a whole lot of other complicated biological systems. I generally feel great after a lifting session but its super important that I eat right and get a good night’s sleep. Some days I have made…
  • I think I will save myself for the tough mudder but it’s good to see that people in Adelaide are still alive!
  • If myself and all the others on MFP cane and any one can! I’m sure you will have your own success story up in no time! Thank you  My routine..... Monday: Weights (arms and upper back) Tuesday: Dragon Boating (its like rowing) Wednesday: Weights (legs and lower back) Thursday: Yoga then weights or some cardio if I…
  • That is an amazing compliment thank you! To tell the truth I am really struggling with my appearance these days, at heart I’m still that shy chubby guy in the first photo, he really was not prepared for just how different things are now.
  • Friended! Send me a message any time :) The girl did not stick with me, I had been trying to lose weight when I was with her but I did not get serious about it until we broke up. I was in the gym with my trainer a few days after the break up, she could see something was wrong but did not ask, she knew what to do though,…
  • We don't really do Holloween in Australia
  • Not yet! But I need a superman costume for my next birthday, I plan to make every one come as a super hero
  • Pics fit now!
  • I have seriously thought about it! I'm having ankle issues though; it’s getting in the way of my hiking and would be problem for the tough mudder as well.
  • Ignore the scales for a while, while they have not changed in 3 months you are down 1 and half dress sizes so you your body composition is still changing for the better. I hit a really bad multi month plateau too, I tried everything I could to bust it, I went harder and I ate less, nothing worked. In the end it was doing…
  • I'm doing the 100km one, might as well do it right :)
