Since the start of the year I've soley focused on strength training and have cut out all cardio. But then I started reading Burn the Fat, Feed the Muscle and it has dawned on me that I do need cardio to get rid of the fat. It is suggested that after weights a quick 20minute HIIT session is in order, so that's what I've…

I only do BodyPump and CXworx for my strength training at the moment and I definitely have visible muscles now when I tense. So i'd say it is good for 'toning'. But burning the fat so you can see the muscle underneath will require cardio.

I have read that it actually can be beneficial to eat more on some days. It shakes your body up and keeps it guessing. I had a quick look at your diary and I really think you shouldn't beat yourself up over it, mainly coz eating around 1400 cals is too little anyway, especially if you exercise. Find your TDEE…

Ahhh Grandmothers and their feeding ways.. gotta love them XD I mainly get comments form my granny about how I should not lose any more weight. I agree with everyone here. We get comments that we are so thin now because no ones used to seeing us like that. They will get used to it. Stay vigilent and explain all the factors…

Thank you for this informative post!

I use zucchini peels as my spaghetti substitute. But I'll give squash a go next time :D Do you need to cook the squash or anything? I like zucchini coz i dont need to blanch them. Just peel and put hot sauce on top.

Fiber is your friend. As others have said eat more fruit and veg. Oats, beans, berries, and dark green vegetables like spinach, and even nuts.

Hiya! Are you trying to lose weight? I'm a bit confused. If you want to lose weight you shouldn't be eating your TDEE. Maybe figure out your BMR and eat at least 20% (sendetary level) above that number. See if you lose any weight doing that... and maybe stick with it for a month or two just to settle your body if you've…

Hellooooo!! I plugged your numbers into the Fat2FitRadio.com BMR calculator (that's the one i prefer to use, personally). I didn't know what your goal weight is so I just put 170lb in for now. It calculates your BMR as being around 1867 calories. Your sendetary calculation is 1927, so if you ate that amount daily, without…

Depends. Personally I keep track of two measurements. The narrowest part of my waist, and then the actual circumference around my belly button.

Well if netting below 1500 hasnt worked for you then you should give it a go and see what happens.

I used to live in Europe. Stay away from the desserts. And generally just live an active lifestyle. If you are living the life of a healthy person right now then things shouldn't change when you are over there. Good luck.

I don't know your stats.... but you are a guy and no way should you ever net 1200 calories. You need to eat more food. At least 1600 calories, probably.

Sugar makes you fat, not carbs.

Hi Ashley! One advice I can give you is to not be scared of eating food. If you are active food is your friend. The whole notion of a 1200 calorie diet is rubbish. Most people need to eat between 1400 and 2100 calories a day depending on how active they are, age, height and muscle mass. Pop over here…

I put your numbers into the Fat2Fit calculator and it says that your BMR is 1500calories and that you should be eating either Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 1721 Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 1972 Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 2223 Very Active (hard…

I take fitness classes at the gym and I hate doing weight... mainly squats and lunges, but I also love them because they are the best exercises. It's like taking a bitter medicine. tastes bad, but I know I gotta do it if I wnat to get healthy.

Hmmm... you say that "Black coffee = short term boost of metabolic rate " but... coffee supresses your appetite, and if you don't eat your metabolism slows down. O_o

I suggest you go here http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/ for all your calculation needs. MFP has a BMR calculator under the TOOLS tab but I find that the system MFP uses to be terribly wrong. It calculates my BMR to be 1248 when I know it is actually 1381. I try to always eat 20% above my BMR and if I can't manage that I…

It's your BMR (Basal Metabolic rate) BMI is your Body Mass Index. You need to eat above your BMR, because that is the number of calories your body NEEDS in order to funcion. If you eat below your BMR your body will start breaking down your lean muscles because it takes more effort and energy to fuel your muscles than it…

Just remember that slow and steady wins the race. you didn't put all this weight on overnight, and you shouldn't expect it to come off overnight either. Keep up the fantastic work. It IS hard, and you need to work your butt off (literally) but it is oh-so-worth-it. Set small goals and tick them off whenever you achieve…

Cardio exercise is the one thing I really need. I get crabby, irritable and have a short fuse. When I start feeling that way I need to get out and move around. It also helps supress my appetite for a while afterwards, as well as acting as a distraction from the munchies.
-
Find your BMR and don't eat below that. See how that works for you.

*claps* AWESOME! Good for you! Keep up the fantastic job :D

My motivation is having a healthy body so that I will not suffer from all the ailments associated with being overweight.

10 pounds in 10 days? Sounds insane and like you'd just put the 10 pounds back on in 20 days. But whatever floats your boat @__@

Carbs are in everything you eat more or less. We need carbs for our brain to function. Just be smart about what carbs you eat ie vegetables over highly processed bread. Carbs FTW!

Perhaps if you have half an hour spare you might want to go here --> http://www.fat2fitradio.com/2012/02/fat-2-fit-139-breaking-those-nasty-weight-loss-plateaus/ and listen to their podcast. They cover how to get over plateaus. Good luck.
