  • I divide Aikido time by 2, personally. We get pretty tired in our Dojo. Soaked in sweat.
  • I found a cool thing in the MFP Android app. Go to Goals, Nutrition Goals, if you click on Carbs, Proteins, or Fat, you can enter in custom percentages, fo I put in 40%, 30%, 30%, the exact Zone percentages. So easy! Now MFP will drive you towards your Zone goals.

  • About a month on the Zone, down about 6 lbs. MFP on my phone make it much easier to manage the 40:30:30 mix of carb:protein:fat this time around, as opposed to when I did this in the 1990s with the Zone's "blocks" system. This time I'm just using universal units of mass, grams, and MFP uses grams. I should be done by the…
  • 10 days back on The Zone, and down 2.7 lbs. A good start. It always starts out well, but then after you reach your goals, complacency and back-sliding set in. Too much at stake this time, though.
  • Here's a question... should I eat the same amount of food, even on exercise days? The online body fat calculator online, which gives you your food budget, includes your activity level, but if you don't exercise every day, should you hold back on rest days, and eat more on exercise days? If so, how much do you borrow into…
  • I did The Zone Diet around 1998, and it worked well enough, but I drifted away from it. It requires intricate planning, unfortunately. The tough part is every snack, every meal, has to properly proportioned. Fast forward to 2014, I'm BMI 25, but I got some bad news in my latest A1C test, the gold standard blood sugar test.…
  • I also reversed it with statins and some weight loss, and also Vitamin E 800 IU per day. The statin had a huge effect on my cholesterol, reduced it by 60 - 70 points.
  • What's a stone? Did you lose lose it whilst driving on the wrong side of the road? What colour was this stone? ;-)
  • I'm going to give this Mosley scheme a try. I find his BBC television programs to be extremely informative and entertaining. I'm stuck at BMI = 25, but for personal health reasons (pre-diabetic blood sugar, and fatty liver) I need to go lower, BMI = 23 would be ideal. It's exhausting to go through MFP and logging every…
  • I am at a plateau, maybe alternate day 5:2 moderated fasting will help me punch through. I am at BMI 25, on my way to BMI 23 for blood sugar and liver health reasons. I just starting trying it today after seeing the BBC Horizons Michael Mosley show yesterday. I feel fine at 121:45 PM, and 300 Calories left for tonight...
  • Today the gastroenterologist said I had a normal-sized liver, and my liver enzymes were low, "in the teens"! But I still feel URQ discomfort, so I don't think I'm cured. I've only been on pravastatin for two years, it might take some more time for it and the antioxidants to work. The antioxidants are Alpha Lipoic Acid…
