  • I say stop worrying and focus on what you know you need to do! You got this! :)
  • I agree with many here. I too was up by 4 lbs from the Christmas weekend. I did not work out Saturday or Sunday, but was back in the gym all the rest of this week, giving it some extra umph! Only down 1 lb though, so I'm planning on watching the caloric intake more closely. Now to get through New Year's! Hang in there!
  • 48 y/o. I'd love to have some friends my age; don't have any right now! I've never gotten into the message boards, but would like to. I've been doing MFP off and on for almost 9 years, but I just logged 227 consecutive days!! Add me, please! :)
  • I feel ya! I've lost 26.5 lbs in the last 3 months and only 2 people at work have said anything. I have found though over the years of gaining and losing the same stupid 40-50 lbs, that I can hide a 25 lb weight gain pretty well on my frame. It's just been in the last few weeks that I went back to wearing my old clothes…
  • I too started out around your weight. I was 267.5 on 3/3/14 and this morning I was 241. I am logging every bite I put in my mouth on this website. You must count calories!! There's no two ways about it. When you set up your parameters for your food section, and start entering foods, you are going to be shocked at just how…
  • I dug out my Sweatin' to the Oldies 2 about 5 weeks ago!! They are timeless! I used to do them all the time in the early 2000's and lost like 40 lbs. When I started back this time, I could barely get through 15 min of it. Now I'm up to 40 min and I love it! I log it under aerobics - low impact, but for 38 min it said I…
  • I'm an Air Force brat. Born on Robins AFB in Warner Robins, GA. Have lived 3-4 years in each of these places: Hawaii, Missouri, Georgia, England, Texas (just 1 year there!). Spent 12 years in Ohio, then moved to Tennessee in 1995 and have lived there ever since!!
  • Hello! I was also recently diagnosed with Metabolic Syndrome/insulin resistance. I started on Metformin 1000mg with supper for 2 weeks, then added another 1000mg with breakfast. It was already mentioned that it takes 3 days to 2 weeks for your body to adjust to the dosaging. I have found this to be true for me. My first…
  • Congratulations Marm1962 on quitting smoking. Your stats on money saved and cigs not smoked are a real eye opener. Keep it up!!
  • I try my best to follow what I call the "BRPPS" rule. Pronounce this abbreviation as "burps," and it stands for "Bread," "Rice," "Pasta," "Potatoes," and "Sugar." These are the foods with your highest "bad" carbs and should be avoided or eaten in strict moderation with whatever diet you're following. Eating brown rice and…
  • Welcome! I really like the site too. I've been at it about 4 weeks now and have lost 8lbs! Good luck with your goals! Sherry
  • DrWhoFanatic47: Don't give up! You can change the day you're in. Can you go for a quick walk? Log your food. I had to face my bad food choice at lunch today. I'm in a 178 calorie deficit uless I go get in some exercise. Hang in there. If the day doesn't turn around for you, it'll be ok. Start again tomorrow. I'm rooting…
  • I can relate to all of you, especially the buffet dilemma. My main problem is not the sweets. I LOVE SALTY!!!!!! Give me a cheese ball or some chips and dip, party sandwiches, pigs in blankets (which is what I then feel like when I go get in bed at the end of the day!), and on and on!! I blow the fat, carb and sodium…
  • Hey guys! Congrats to everyone keeping up with their exercise regimen's. I live in the south, so I have no snow to shovel ! Glad on the one hand, sad on the other because it's a good way to get in some exercise. It is REALLY cold and windy here today (Tennessee) so a walk outside isn't feasible. I might try to do my…
  • Me too! I was a Mickey D's manager for 10 years! That's probably where my cholesterol level starting going haywire!! LOL I tell you where my biggest issue is.............I go eat at places and not do "research" first. For instance, we went to Long John Silver's today and I got the 2 piece fish basket, not the usual…
  • Hey all ! I'm new to the boards so I don't know if this Christmas Fitness Challenge Check-in is for a selected few or not, but thought I'd report in anyways for accountability purposes! I got in my 30 minute Curves workout last night. They've been holding a "Nothing to Lose" holiday challenge that started 2 weeks before…
  • Hangell, Welcome! I'm new too. I just joined last night and am already enjoying the site! What are your favorite foods? The reason I ask is that if there's something you thought you could tolerate in the AM and it's a favorite food, no one says you HAVE to eat a "breakfast" food. Know what I mean??? I absolutely…
  • Welcome Nicole! Your daughter looks beautiful! Good luck on starting a weight loss program. You can do it! My problem is not so much sweets(only like those a certain few days of the month:wink: ! I LOVE salty stuff: chips, pickles, good aged cheddar cheeses, french fries, pizza............on and on! If I get a sweet tooth,…

  • Hello everyone! This is the first time I've joined a message board like this. My instructor at Curves recommended this website after I told her I started seeing a nutrionist b/c I'm "pre-diabetic." The nurtionist set me up on a meal plan with caloric, carb, fat and fiber parameters. I think I'll find this site very useful…
