  • I am looking forward to starting this challenge. I am trying to find ways of focussing on weight-loss as a positive thing, rather than dwelling on letting myself get to this stage & what I need to give up to lose weight again. Some fun challenges would be great! I'll try to add a photo of my little dog-
  • It doesn’t get too cold where I live thank goodness. I wish we had an Aldi in Tassie but have just ordered some AF wine from a large bottle shop & will pick it up before we visit our son & his partner next weekend. Thanks for the welcomes. It is making me even keener to start!
  • Thanks for the welcome & the tips :)
  • Hi everyone, from Tasmania, Australia. I am busting to start this challenge! I think I will have a Dry April to help as I think my glass or 2 of wine at the end of the day is using up too many valuable calories that would be better spent on nutrition. It's rarely any more than that, but it's an enjoyable habit that I think…
  • How many 5% Challenges have you done? This will be my first What do you like to do for fun? Read or play golf What major city do you live in or near? State? Launceston, Tasmania, Australia What are your health/fitness goals for this season? Lose 5% How would your pet or friend describe you? My terrier would say I'm loving…
  • I have no idea how it works either, but hopefully we'll work it out as we go.
  • Yes please :)
  • What a great introduction, Miss May. I have just made a commitment to myself to have at least 2 AF days a week. I enjoyed the challenge of Dry July & did it without much effort, but then settled back into a couple of glasses of wine at the end of the day most days in August. I'm ready to drink less. I will check out some…
  • After doing Dry July without any problems I have really struggled to have any AF days this month. As soon as my OH suggests we share a bottle of wine my willpower seems to go out the window. I need to check in here every morning & will from now on. Today I am going AF!
  • This really gave me a good feeling. Thank you for the welcome! I went AF in July & 10 days in June, but have ended up having wine (half a bottle) at the end of each day so far this month until yesterday. We are catching up with an old friend today & this welcome has helped me decide to take a bottle of AF wine with me.…
  • I just did July AF (easily) & am trying to come up with a new plan to lower my alcohol consumption. I had crept up to 2 glasses of wine every day & that had to stop. Now to decide on the way forward. I think having a couple of glasses 2-3 nights a week would be OK, but usually, that creeps back up. Thanks for this thread…
  • The Cardiologist was very impressed with my reduction in BP & is recommending lowering my meds. Very happy! Do your future self a favour & cut down your sodium intake, before it does irreparable damage to your heart!
  • Hi BAO197. Why do you want to lose weight? With a height of 6'7" & weighing 167lbs your BMI is only 19! The suggested healthy weight range for men your height is between 74-100. Eating healthily & getting fitter is always a good idea, but maintaining your weight seems to me like a much healthier option. Cheers, Cate.
  • Thank you. It is such a huge relief! I'm now looking forward to what the Cardiologist says at the end of the month. Since I saw him last I also had a CT scan. Fingers crossed!
  • Thank you Jean & Wooken for welcoming me. It feels great to be back on track. I have been full of energy & enthusiasm today. Tomorrow I am playing golf, with the women at our local club. I organised a Memorial day for my mother-in-law, who died in Feb. She used to play golf & loved that I took it up in 2012. There are some…
  • Have had a really good week & am back into logging regularly again. I had regained some weight & felt disgusting. I have lost 2.5kg already. Still have 5 or 6kg to go, but was once 111kg (2007). I will start posting here but please let me know if I post in the wrong place. I am 61, retired & live in Tasmania, Australia, in…
  • Hi, I'm not new to MFP, but new to the message boards. I lost 36kgs back in 2007(following a very strict program for 28 weeks-no wine, bread, potatoes, rice...... When I got to goal I decided to go up about 3kg as everyone kept telling me I looked too thin (some worried that I had Cancer), which ended up being 5 & then I…
  • Hi, I'll be in this. It's my first MFP challenge & I'll go with 50 miles or 80km on my stationary bike.
