  • Hi Amber and everyone else! I'm a long time user of MFP. Started using it in September 2010! I am now at a healthy BMI and enjoy a healthy lifestyle. I still love using MFP to keep me on track as maintaining a healthy weight without yo-yoing is challenging! My big motivator is that I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome)…
  • Brilliant thanks, very well written! Follow up question just to be crystal clear: Should I eat at my BMR OR at my BMR plus TDE for weight loss if I have max 14 pounds left to lose? Is the 1200 often mentioned and adhered to by MFP and its members too low for a healthy adult?
  • bump The topics on this subjuect have really enlightened me over the last few days! i've been an MFP user for over a year and a half and have been fluctuating (plateauing) 5 pounds off my goal weight for months. I'm kinda ok with that but now realise I should be eating a little more and concentrating on my fitness levels…
  • I'd be interested to see other peoples replies to this. Mine has gone the other way but I'm assuming its down to other factors as my weight loss has been slow and sensible. I'd hate to think that doing it the healthy way has scared away my normal bodily functions!
  • Thanks for this. As I'm so close to my goal i.e. the centre of my BMI range and I do a lot of exercise and strength work I should be adapting the MFP percentages and not just going with the pre set ones right.
  • I have the same thing going on! I feel firmer and lighter this week, my clothes feel baggy, my tummy feels flatter, and I've been cycling everywhere, a couple of hours a day. Yet today no change. I upped my calories last week to maintenance for a while as I was feeling quite cravey and I'm within three or four pounds of my…
  • Thanks for posting this. I've been doing a lot of work on my push up skills recently. It started when I was surprised to find I can now manage a few proper ones which I could never do when I was heavier and less fit. I took it from ther and have been doing three or four sets of 15 a few days a week. Now after reading this…
  • bump thank you! I've been experimenting with baking with bananas lately as I seem to be intolerant /allergic to them raw but I like them.
  • Yeah the maintenance number you are given is based on your BMR in my case 1434 cals a day and then an estimated number of cals is added on top based on my percieved activity level bringing it to 1940 for me. Those extra cals are a total estimate bearing in mind everyday is not groundhog day and there are all sorts of…
  • Yup *holds up hand* I too am lesbian who's been with my lovely partner (in the law firm of life) for 4 years. See profile pic, I'm on the right. I rarely check out girls in the gym except to admire and appreciate their muscle tone. I do find changing room nudity a turn off though and am often glad that everything is a blur…
  • What about using a yogurt/mustard mix instead of a mayo/ mustard one? I use light mayo myself with a little dijon in a multi seed pitta with a handful of baby spinach.
  • As a few of you have said a little chocolate in moderation or anything for that matter is so much tastier than pigging out on the lot! I've been off chocolate and biscuits and cakes and crisps since christmas. First for the countdown to my sisters wedding where I was Maid of honour, then that overlapped with lent. Lately…
  • Hiya Im in UK too. I would say Holland and Barrett is a great place for protein shakes they have loads of different types. I take a soya isolate one from them not so much for muscle gain but maintenance and repair as I'm a vegetarian so don't always get enough protein in my diet. There are all different types for different…
  • Great pic!!!! Your dog is a dude!
  • Chest press will help make them perkier which will help if they're deflated! Boob size is all relative to the rest of your body though. My 36E boobs looked the same size on my bigger frame as my 34D ones do now but I'm so much happier without the extra baggage. This perception thing is something you can help along too. If…
  • Hiya! Im Irish but may not be able to help with Clonakilty black pudding as I'm living in London AND I'm a vegetarian! Sorry!
  • That is very impressive!!! Love it!
  • Thank you! Will give this a go!
  • Awww Yeah I agree with doing it for the fun of it! Its a hypothetical really I was under for the day actually which was more the reason for asking. Its just so nice as well to feel good after a night out and not feel guilty about calories drunk! I'm also wondering which day I would log it for yesterday or today?
  • I definitely log fruits and vegetables. If you think your 5 a day could easily be 400 - 500 cals you could be totally cancelling out your calorie deficit! What would be the point. Also don't forget MFP is to keep track of the good as well as the bad, not just calories but fibre, sugar, etc (although MFP settings are set to…
  • I can think of two things it could be. First, that your shoes are too tight. Second: Are you breathing properly? If you are shallow breathing you may not be taking enough oxegen into your blood and you might get a numb or pins and needles feeling in your finger tips or toes.
  • I must look out for that feta! I also cook stuffed peppers and lots of types of omelettes so this is interesting reading. Especially as I've been tending to avoid cheese
  • I like your 5, I agree with them all. Particularly taking a week off after 6 to 7 weeks intensive. I seem to do that one unintentionally like whenever I've got a holiday coming up I do an intensive 6 weeks and then don't feel bad at all for really enjoying my break! I have one to add: Sugary food makes you hungry! So when…
  • Totally agree! Skinny without muscle tone is no good. Slim/curvy with a bit of muscle definition is my kind of lady!
  • I'm eating scrambled eggs right now! Two medium eggs straight into a small non stick saucepan (or with 2ml of heated oil) mixed about with a fork or spatula, added ground black pepper and then put onto two pieces of sliced granary bread with a little olive oil spread. Beautiful!
  • I've just come back from hols and not done any damage on the scale! Miracle or what?! I didn't deprive myself i had an icecream most days and wine with dinner. I got a fair bit of exercise though, you do more than your think on hols. We went for a walk every morning and a swim most days and carrying around beach stuff in…
  • Digital scales can be a bit changeable so here's what I do every time to avoid dissapointment!: I have an extremely accurate kitchen scales with a maximum weight of 5,000g so I have a household item (in my case a saxaphone case!) which I know weighs 4899g. Every morning I put that on my scales and it reads 4.9kg so I know…
  • Zumba Carla I want a fit zumba coach as inspiration haha! I go to a lot of classes but can only do zumba in the privacy of my own home on the wii at the mo due to lack of rythm haha!
  • Hello and welcome I read that as Whitney first haha! I'm 5' 7 too and 150lb at the mo. I'm not far off my goal wieght at that though. The goal has changed a bit but its currently 147lb or 10.5 stone. maybe I have a bigger frame than you. Anyways good luck! Feel free to add me.
