I'm all about this and not just for Thanksgiving. I went to lunch with my dad last week for Mexican. I ate a ton of chips and salsa and like 3 tacos, rice and beans. But because I had been working hard the rest of the week, I still lost 2.8 lbs from week to week. I think this is the perspective I often forget. I would see…

I don't really feel bad, but I do plan to buy some nicer things (as a reward) when I hit my goal. I don't usually spend much on clothes and have generally bought stuff the bigger department stores that carried my size (Jc Penney, Sears, and occasionally Walmart). It's just this time I bought the cheapest jeans I could find…

But I think what's lost by some is that pretty much every overweight and obese person has tried to lose weight in the past and failed or gained it back, etc. I've been overweight since I was a pre-teen (with a small amount of time being a skinny teenager) and obese or morbidly obese for almost my entire adult life. I've…

If you want to log calories burned for strength training, do it on the cardio logging. The strength training is only to measure reps, etc.

I often keep cuties (small mandarin oranges) at my desk. I regularly buy pistachios I absolutely love beef jerky These are my main snacks... but at home I'll have other fruits (berries, grapes, bananas, etc). I also have less healthy snacks on occasion too. :)
-
I eat peanut butter and banana sandwiches.

It's a fancy pedometer.

I've been actively trying to lose since the End of Feb 2012. I've lost 82 lbs so far. I have not drastically changed my diet. I count calories. I will still eat hamburgers, hot dogs, pizza, etc. I just eat less of it or modify my other meals to make my calorie goals. Or, I will make it (or choose) a lower-calorie version.…

Because it's dangerous and unnecessary for 90% of overweight and obese people. The vast majority of people could lose the weight through natural means without putting their health (or life!) at risk. And it doesn't train people how to ate properly. I know someone who lost quite a bit with a surgery -- but after a bad…

I've had that Atari shirt for years. It finally fits again!

At my heaviest I was about 373. I started MFP at 361. I'm currently just under 289.

The truth is, you don't need to eat healthy foods to lose weight. Eating healthier foods is ideal, of course -- but, it's more about calories in, calories out. Here's an easy example with less healthy options: Mcdonalds: Angus Bacon & Cheese Burger (790 calories), Large Fries (500 calories), Large Coke (310 calories) =…

This is about 10 lbs ago... I'll need to update again -- maybe after another 10.

I'm not even half-way there yet, but my "plan" has been pretty simple. I log my food and hit my calorie goals every day. I think I may have had only 1 day that I was over my allocated calories. I don't eat back all my exercise calories, but I do eat some of them back. I average about a 3 lb a week loss. I'm on track for…

My newest "during" picture. I still have about another 100 lbs to go:
-
When you get close to your goal weight range, I'd actually start looking at body fat % instead of pounds.
-
This is about a month old -- and I'm now down about another 14 lbs, but I still feel that this is representative of where I am now.
-
You lose weight by having a calorie deficit. It's easier to hit that deficit when you're active, but you can do it with food reduction alone.
-
I've also noticed that Endomondo's numbers seem much higher now. I wonder if it's since the last update? I do pretty much the same route every day and Endomondo's now calculating it at about 275 calories -- when it used to calculate at about 200.
-
Endomondo seems pretty accurate for me when I've compared it to http://www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbc However, I put your stats (I used run 5mph) and got: 394 -- which is closer to the treadmill. Your best bet is to use a HRM and measure it.

I think you could say I just stopped caring and/or in denial. I knew I was eating too much. I knew I was inactive. I just didn't seem to care. I've struggled with weight since I was a pre-teen/teenager. But when I hit about 22, I just started putting on lots of weight. I managed to lose about 50 pounds before I got…

Just wanted to say I agree. I eat carbs everyday. It's only morning here and I've already eaten a banana and 2 cuties (clementine oranges). I usually have whole wheat bread for breakfast every day (peanut butter and banana sandwich). I eat sandwiches for lunch frequently. We eat pasta (spaghetti) at least once a week. Not…

From my heaviest:: 193 lbs From when I started MFP: 181 lbs Today: 132 lbs But it's actually even lower than my current goal weight. I was pretty thin when I was 17/18 (when I got my license) and I never updated it.

This is the same thing I've heard. I heard the same thing about some people are actually overhydrating -- especially while working out. I heard someone found the original 8 glasses recommendation and even that mentioned that the 8 glasses of water is equivalent to a gallon of fluid you receive from all your foods (food,…

Am I the only one here who thinks bread and cheese ARE healthy foods? I eat bread and cheese nearly every day. Yes, whole foods are better, but I don't consider cheese and bread as junk food. And bacon should be fine in moderation. I still eat all the same foods as I did before. I just eat them either in smaller portions…
