They're both fantastic. Personally, I liked The Kite Runner better, but they're both great.

I love to read! Some of my favorites have already been mentioned but I'll still include them on my list: I Know This Much is True, Wally Lamb The Poisonwood Bible, Barbara Kingsolver The Red Tent, Anita Diamant The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini The Handmaid’s Tale, Margaret Atwood The Prince of Tides, Pat Conroy The Help,…

I'm 5'7" too and a "pear" shape (smaller upper body, carry extra weight in my butt, hips, thighs). My initial goal was 150 but when I got there I felt like I could stand to lose a bit more. My goal is to maintain between 135-140. I'm currently hovering around 138 and feel good here.

Wow! What a difference! You look great.

I don't think I'd ever get implants but I floated the idea past my hubby and he said "NO WAY." Aparantly he's in the "more than a handful is just a waste" camp. Lucky me! :)

They're called padded bras!

I love nuts, I love cookies, I love brownies. But I don't like cookies or brownies with nuts in them. I love cherries but HATE the taste of artificial cherry flavoring (cherry flavored candy, medicine, etc)

I have a 6 year old and a 3 year old. I often feed them "ingredients" for dinner rather than giving them the completed version of what my husband and I eat. For example, hubby and I had tacos last night. The kids ate: veggie crumbles (our ground beef substitute) that I separated out before putting the taco seasoning in,…

Thanks for the smile. I have a classic pear shape and I'm trying hard to love my big ol' booty :) I do have to say, though, that MANY of my apple shaped friends have GREAT LEGS. You know the kind that Zz Top sings about? "She's got legs, she knows how to use them"

Slim, please! Yummy! ;)

I think your questions are ones we all struggle with to some extent - I'm not sure I've ever seen them articulated so well. I only had 30+ pounds to lose and I still have had my share of identity issues along this "healthy" path. I think that 1/2 the weight loss battle is actually losing the weight and 1/2 the weight loss…

I don't think you're eating enough. Under 1000 calories isn't going to give your body what it needs. I'd recommend eating AT LEAST 1200 and more on the days you exercise. Also, I agree with some of the other posters - slim fast and other highly processed foods aren't healthy. You might want to consider incorporating more…

My opinion: If you're offered something you don't want, a simple "no thank you" is the way to go. I don't think its rude at all.

Wow! You look fantastic! Congratulations on all the hard work and best of luck as you continue your journey. BTW - you have a BEAUTIFUL face. I love your smile, your face shape, your hair...

I think one big factor is to consider how your stomach was BEFORE you got pregnant. If it was one of your problem areas before pregnancy, it's likely going to be very difficult to get rid of after the baby is born. If you didn't really gain belly weight before pregnancy, it'll probably be much easier to get rid of the…

You could tell him that you're struggling with your own weight loss efforts and tell him that you would like him to support your efforts by joining you. If he's not motivated to do it for himself, maybe he'd be willing to do it for you?

It's actually "Don Poncho." Try that spelling and you should find it.

It seems a little on the low side to me but probably not unhealthy if you're eating well. I'm 5'7" too and my goal is to maintain at 135-140.

Boy am I right there with you. I have dramatically improved my eating but if there is junk in the house, I can't stay away. I have heard that if you COMPLETELY eliminate processed sugar you eventually stop craving it but I don't know if that is true. I can say that becomming more educated about the fast food industry has…

If your goal is just to lose weight, you can eat fast food and still accomplish your goal as long as you're still under your calorie goals. However, it is NOT healthy - even when you do stay under your calories so if your goal is good health, I'd avoid it.

Nope, but close. Mine is Rachelle.

Thanks for the article! I'm going to try this :)

I put off telling my husband how much I weighed for a long time. When I finally did tell him, he didn't believe me - he thought I weighed about 20 pounds less. It DID make me feel bad - especially because (my perception of) his reaction to "the number" was less than supportive. Now that some time has passed, I've lost…
