  • I like Walden Farms Chipolte Ranch, and it is 0 calories.
  • To lose weight I count calories and move more. To be healthy I eat a Mediterranean diet that my husband's cardiologist recommended, and which includes lots of veggies, fruits, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats with occasional indulgences. I find that eating healthy, nutritious foods makes it easier to stay…
  • That's true, and I should have had a better plan in place for maintaining, because a ketogenic diet is to restricting and not something I could stick to for an extended period of time. The Mediterranean way of eating is much more sustainable for me, and is very healthy since it is a mix of lots of veggies, fruits, whole…
  • My immediate goals are to stick with counting calories and logging my food, and working my way back up to walking 10,000 steps each day since recovering (mostly) from double total knee replacements.
  • Unfortunately age plays into the equation. I am 70 and 5' 6" and weigh quite a bit more than you do. I am currently eating 1470 as lightly active to lose 2 pounds per week. I am sure when I get to your weight I will be at 1200 or so calories. too. If I were sedentary, I would be eating 1200 now. How long have you been…
  • You can lose weight on either one as long as you are in a calorie deficit, but if you want a healthy way of eating that you can eat a variety of good foods and stick with for the long haul, I recommend the Mediterranean Diet. My husband's cardiologist recommended it to us. It is not really a diet as we think of a diet, but…
  • Magnesium works for me, but if you sweat a lot and drink lots of water you could be low on potassium or sodium. I agree that some blood tests might be in order. I used to have horrible leg cramps, so I feel for you. Hope you can find the right solution soon.
  • If you are not careful, you can use up your weekly deficit by going over on the weekends. Personally, I think it is better to keep your calorie count the same on weekends as you do during the week with maybe just an occasional splurge.
  • I like the 100 calorie packs of healthy nuts, like almonds or almonds and walnuts, also Baby Bel cheese, or a piece of fruit. Sugar snap peas are good, too.
  • When I want something after dinner and I don't have any calories left, I drink a cup of peppermint tea, or sometimes black decaf coffee. Peppermint is supposed to curb your appetite. You could always munch on some low calorie raw veggies, like celery or broccoli, bell peppers, etc.
  • Yesterday I had: Breakfast: A slice of oatnut bread toasted with a tablespoon of peanut butter and an orange, and of course black coffee Lunch: 8 Ritz whole wheat cracker, 2 oz of sharp cheddar cheese, Zesty Santa Fe Chicken soup, a yellow bell pepper and some celery. For a late afternoon snack I had a pack of Belvita…
  • Strawberries!!
  • Breakfast: Black coffee, a raisin cinnamon English muffin with 2 T Strawberry whipped cream cheese and 6 strawberries. Lunch: A big salad with mixed baby greens, broccoli, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes and sunflower seeds with Walden farms Chipolte ranch dressing and 4oz rotisserie chicken. Supper will be: two scrambled eggs…
  • Yesterday I had: Breakfast: Black coffee and a Zone Perfect Bar Lunch: A big salad with mixed baby greens, grape tomatoes, vidallia onion and Walden Farms Chipolte Ranch dressing and 6 oz rotisserie chicken. Supper: A sandwich on a multigrain flatout flatbread with smoked turkey breast, laughing cow cheese, spicy…
  • Yesterday was a lite day for me. For lunch I had a big salad with around 4 cups mixed baby greens, a cup of grape tomatoes and half a vidallia onion. For supper I had another cup baby greens, some avocado, and beets. I also had a bosc pear.
  • MFP is great, but you might also try Spark People and Fat 2 Fit Radio.
  • Check out the Mediterranean diet. Both my husband's cardiologist and my doctor recommended it. It is not really a diet, but a way of eating. It is very healthy and easy to follow and great for lowering cholesterol and for heart health. It is also great for losing weight. Also, I would like to give you a word of advice from…
  • My husband's heart doctors recommended the Mediterranean diet as the most healthy way of eating. It is naturally lower in calories if you use moderation. It is not a fad diet. It is part of a healthy lifestyle including plenty of physical activity. It is simply lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, healthy oils, fish,…
  • I think I need to clear up a misconception about what I said. I totally agree that you can get all the healthy food you need to lose weight at the grocery store, farmer's market, etc. I also understand that you lose weight when you create a calorie deficit either by eating less, exercising more, or a combination of both.…
  • I have to disagree with the posters above. I agree that is is somewhat expensive, but you can't get the same "diet" food at the supermarket. I have been on the Profile plan and I can tell you that it does work and it is designed to be a well balanced plan. Their products are chock full of all the vitamins and other…
  • I am aiming to get back to 165. That will be a size 8 for me with some 6s.
  • Having lost a lot of weight and gaining some of it back, I am now working to get back to my goal weight. I am taking a different approach this time around. I am going to follow the Fat2fit Radio philosophy and eat like the slim person I will be. That is, I will eat the amount of calories and do the amount of exercise I…
  • This is exactly the direction I am heading. I have lost a lot of weight and gained some of it back. I am working on getting back to my goal weight. This is pretty much the route I am going to take. It might take me longer to get there, but I will be building healthy sustainable habits along the way. This makes a lot of…
  • I have had hypothyroidism since my early 20's. I take levothyroxine to control it. It might take a while to find the right dosage for you, but once you do you should be able to lose weight just like someone with normal thyroid function. Taking thyroid hormone is something you will have to do for the rest of your life if…
  • Sounds like a good plan.
  • I have a flex and love it. I have had no issues with it counting arm movement as extra steps, I have purposely added extra arm movemens in order to see for myself if this is really an issue and my flex didn't count any of them.
  • Magnesium. I was getting awful leg cramps and started taking the magnesium and they completely went away. I took it for several months and no leg cramps at all. I recently ran out and decided to see if I could do without it. I haven't taken it for about a week now, and guess what. The leg cramps are back! I am going today…
  • I have a Fitbit Flex and I love it! It definitely motivates me to push a little harder to reach my goals.
  • I have been maintaining for a few months now, and I don't count calories anymore. I weigh every day and stay within 2 or3 pounds of my goal weight. I eat healthy foods and watch my portions every day, and have treats once in a while. When we eat out I try to pick healthy foods, but sometimes I splurge and have something I…
  • I have had the same dilemma as you. I have been maintaining now for almost 3 months, but still struggle with whether I should lose another 5 pounds or so, because I didn't get down to my original goal weight. I have been maintaining at 163 give or take a couple pounds. I am 65 years old and 5'6" tall. I am wearing size 6…
