There's a group here on MFP called "Eat more to weigh less", check it out!

Me too, love Geneen Roth's books, especially "Women Food and God". Another book that was an eye opener for me was "Fat is a Feminisit Issue", by Susie Orbach, I think everybody should read this (thin people too!). It gives a good descriptoin of underlying causes that could keep us fat. It's from 1978, but is still current.

So Monday morning here in France. Today I'm going on vacation for two weeks, will go home to Sweden and spend time with my family. So this week's challenge (and next's too) will be to stick to the 16:8. As soon as I get back home I'll add back the 5:2.

Today is the second fast day of this week. I woke up at 5.30! Now it's 8am, I'm sitting at my desk at work with a cup of tea and I'm really hungry, this will be a long day. Planned meals; late afternoon; protein-shake (easy here at work) dinner; sallad, tomatoes, carrots, grilled chicken, lemon juice, curry powder

The problem is the search function, there should be some filtering options. I live in France and I love that other members already have put in many items. I would not only want to have the USDA entries. It's a hassle to find entries in grams and dl instead of oz and what not.

Hi all, I'm glad to join this group :) I'm in to my third week of doing 5:2 (combined with 16:8) and I find it surprisingly easy to follow. I have not lost that much weight yet, a couple of kilos, but will stick with it and see where it takes me. On Monday I'm going on vacation, I will visit family with my daughter for two…

I'm gonna take my coffee black when fasting.

Glad that it's working for you! I have no problems what so ever working out fasted, I even had some of my best workouts at the end of a 24-hour fast. You just have to try it so see how it works for you. Good luck!

How can fasting for 16 hours be the way to go, but fasting for 24 hours is a big no-no? If you follow EatStopEat you don't have to stick to 500/600 kcal, you can break your fast with a "normal" meal.

When I make LASAGNA I use cottage cheese in the béchamel sauce instead of grated cheese. Even my kid love it!

I agree that cutting out carbs makes the cravings less strong. I can do this for a few weeks, but I always fall, and I fall HARD. My last Paleo-period ended with a two-week long carb feast. Great that it works for you though!

I have read his book several times, it makes so much sense. I even attended one of his seminars in London. How ever, I can never stick to the principals. I'm home alone a lot and always eating in front of the tele or reading. I have been doing this since I was a kid and it's a habit that's very difficult to break. Maybe I…

I just pick something similar from the food list. Even if the calories are not exact, at least I can see what foods I ate if I want to go back later and have a look.

I scored 26, high end of moderate binge eating behavior. I think the score confirms how I see myself. Btw, I'm new to this group, just found it a couple of days ago and will probably hang out here a bit :)

I'm very glad to hear that this has worked for you. I have the "Overcoming Overeating" book and I love it, I have read it several times already, but have not fully embrased every aspect of intuitive eating. Your post encourages me and I will try to "let go"!
