  • Hi All, I'm 38. Got diagnosed with RA in April 2009, when my first born was 18 months old. I wanted to give him a sibling so I didn't take any drugs until after my daughter was born- which wasn't until May 2011. During that time, I took 5 mgs of Prednisone to help me function and I actually ended up taking that for about 3…
  • I usually dread the start of Fall because my pants don't fit. I tried a pair on today and they're too big- I've been pretty dedicated this summer and have lost 8 lbs since school ended. We don't go back for 6 weeks so I need to really focus on keeping it off. I work out during my lunch hour at school, too. I only get 25…
  • I just discovered sugars too and I've been every day apparently. I lost 60 lbs on WW before coming to MFP and my eating is pretty much the same so in my experience, I've been able to maintain a healthy weight by going over on sugar so I'm not really worrying too much about it.
  • Are you getting help for this from a professional? I'm a binger but not a purger. I have mentioned this book on MFP before but a book that has helped me IMMENSELY is called Overcoming Binge Eating by Dr. Christopher Fairburn. Someone else mentioned it but all that I've read about binge eating disorders is that we should…
  • I also think it was terribly inappropriate for him to say! I've been on the receiving end from my family. I have weighed 30 lbs more than my current weight for about 20 years as well. Now that I've lost it, it throws them off and they think I'm too skinning. But in reality, I'm not. My BMI is 22 and I am FAR from skin and…
  • Binge eating- plain and simple. I weighed 170 last summer and 128 today- the difference has been I've stopped using WW to allow me an occasional binge.
  • You are awesome!!! Love the smile and absolute pride that radiates from your "now" picture!! You've come so far- you'll reach your goal but you look just stunning right now, too! Great work!
  • Can I suggest a book that has helped me IMMENSELY with my "binge monster"? It's called "Overcoming Binge Eating" by Fairburn. Please check it out if you truly suffer from this as I have most of my life. I'd like to join the challenge. I've been "binge free" for the past 2 weeks and I'd like it to continue indefinitely:…
  • Thanks Jwilllose, awesome weight loss by the way! Yes RA and sarcoidosis are both pretty craptastic  It is a pity that prednisone has such nasty side effects because it does seem to be the most effective treatment. [/quote] The most frustrating thing for me is that I was on such a low dose that I had ZERO side…
  • I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and was on a low dose of Prednisone for 3 years (5 mgs a day). There were brief periods where I was on 30 mgs (flare ups) but then quickly weaned back down. I have been on Methetrexate and Enbrel since last summer (I had a baby May 2011) and I'm currently 30 lbs lower than I was in 2005…
  • Personally- this sounds about as ridiculous as a grapefruit or cabbage diet. Eat when your body tells you it's hungry- if you're unsure of what it would take to fill you, measure out a portion, eat it, assess your hunger level. I was up this morning at 7- fed my kids- went to the grocery store at 9 and had breakfast about…
  • I 100% agree!! I write down what I eat and the enter it on MFP at the end of the day- I eat about 6 times a day (3 meals- 3 snacks) and if I have a day where I go to bed with "extra calories" uneaten- so be it. I don't eat any more if my body says I'm not hungry. Your body will make up for it another day.
  • Banish the -ish from the word fit!! You look incredible, healthy, active!! Good for you! I'm 5'4 and got up to 192 when I had my daughter in May 2011- I know how it feels to be on the shorter side and carrying too much weight. I bet you feel INCREDIBLE!!! Thanks for sharing!
  • You can gain water weight and go up on the scale but you won't have gained fat or long lasting weight. But are you really full from that?
  • You look amazing and with your attitude, you will keep it off!! I don't have a "no no" list either and I think that's key to my success! you are beautiful and you just look fantastic!
  • sorry for the typos-- giving my dd a bottle :)
  • My dh is a cop/7 did midnights for years. He ate cereal when he woke at 4 pm- dinner about 10 pm- and another meal about 4am. I do IE so I have no advice on the LC thing-eat when you're body tells you you are hungry- forget the clock. I know he did- and I do-and we're both at healthy weights (I have lost 38 lbs so only now…
  • Hi- I'm new to MFP but wanted to answer this poll- especially since we're the same height and I'm always interested in what other woman my height weigh: Sex: F Age: 38 Weight: 138 Height: 5'4 How many calories you NET per day: About 1300 How many times per week you exercise w/ minutes: 5-6 times a week and between 20-25…
