It worked great for me. I started running about a year ago using the C25k app. Now I run several times a week. Three miles when I'm short on time. Five miles or more when I have more time. i'm not big into races, but I like knowing that, if I want to, I can go run 5-6 miles, just for the fun of it.

I do when I'm on the treadmill. It keeps my too-short-for-a-ponytail-but-long-enough-to-get-in-my-face hair from getting stuck to my sweaty face. And it helps keep the sweat from running into my eyes. I'm all about what's practical!

From a management perspective, I would have much more respect for someone who discreetly brought their own lunch and didn't make a big deal out of it, than for someone who doesn't want to eat what everyone else is eating because it is unhealthy, but eats it anyway to fit in. The latter doesn't engender a great deal of…

For snacks, sliced apples with sunflower butter or hummus, homemade granola with almond milk.

Check out ohsheglows.com. So many yummy things and most are pretty easy to put together.

I travel internationally a lot for work and I've found that the vegetarian options on flights tend to be better than the standard meal, IMHO. So, that's one option. I hate to rely on airport food because I find the quality usually to be poor and the prices inflated. So, I try to eat before I get there. Also, when I travel,…

Congratulations on the new job! I'd say try to find reasons to get up every hour, even if it's just for two minutes. Refill your water, hand deliver a message, have your computer set to default print on a printer down the hall. Can you adjust your commute to bike or walk to work? Can you park farther away to get more…

Although more expensive, I prefer roof racks to truck racks. (1) I found putting the trunk rack on and taking it off to be a hassle, especially when I needed both the bike and the trunk! (2) I was always worried that there would be some freak accident that resulted in my bike being squashed. (Okay, that one might just be…

p.s. I used a julienne peeler to make the "spaghetti." I think getting the zucchini into skinny threads is key.
-
I'm not a big raw food person, but I tried raw zucchini "spaghetti" and really liked it. The texture is good and the taste quite mild. (Can't say that I was a big fan of a raw carrot spaghetti though. It tasted way too carroty.) I'd say give it a shot! As a bonus, if you end up liking it, you save yourself a couple of…

Another vote for Sweatybands. They are the only headbands that I have found that do not slip.

St. Louis native here. Neighborhoods: The Loop in University City (affectionately, "U City") for cool independent shops The Central West End for more upscale cool. Clayton, upscale, urban professional. I use the term "urban" loosely. Generally good food and nice central location if you're choosing a hotel. (If you can stay…

Sweet: sunflower butter or pumpkin butter and sliced apples or bananas Savory: hummus and sliced cucumbers and/or red peppers

Almond butter, but sunflower seed butter is even better. On toast with sliced apples. . . delicious. I eat it as a meal OR dessert!

This sounds delicious!

What cmriverside said.

I'm going to hazard a guess that you are not taking this under medical supervision. Too much iron is dangerous because your body cannot eliminate it. Perhaps you should check with a doctor regarding your need for iron supplements and the appropriate dosage.

Yep. Can't be bothered with switching to a different watch after I run. I guess I did change it when my husband took me out for Valentine's Day, but that only comes once a year.

Do you mean 10-15 minutes of actual running? 10-15 minutes is great for someone who isn't in shape to run. Actually, it might be too much. Pushing too hard, too soon can result in injuries and burn-out. I'd suggest alternating easy running and walking to build up your endurance. If you're not already familiar with it,…

It doesn't have to be a big decision and you don't have to switch overnight. Start by educating yourself on plant-based foods and adding some vegan meals to your diet. You might find that you segue easily into a vegan lifestyle. Other posters are correct though that vegan does not necessarily mean healthy. So, you need to…

The C25K (Couch to 5k) program is a great way to transition from being a walker to being a runner. It alternates walking and running, slowly building up the length of the runs. You can find information online. Also, pick-up a Runner's World magazine or other books or magazines about running and start reading about running…

I frequently travel internationally and second the suggestions to pack nuts and dried fruits. (I find that fresh fruit is often heavy and I try to travel light.) Something else I have found to be very helpful, not just for the flight but for the trip in general, is to bring my own refillable water bottle and…

I vote for B. Let your body recover. It will thank you. I find that I can easily take a one week break and come back as strong or stronger after the rest.

I should add that the $70 price was on Amazon. Hate to see you spend more than necessary.

Alone. I like the solitude and opportunity to spend time lost in my own mind. Does that make me anti-social?

I posted on this topic on another HRM thread and am just copying it below. Hope it helps. I have a Polar FT7 which works great for me. Things I like about it: Size: It's not huge. I have small wrists and it doesn't seem like I'm wearing a massive computer on my wrist. Price: Very reasonable. I think I paid under $70. Yay.…

I don't think I would ever try to put it in a drink. I do use it a lot in other foods though. I sprinkle it on salads and cereal and mix it into baked goods. I think of it as nutty and pretty much use it where I use other nuts. So, don't throw it out. Well, maybe throw out the smoothie.

I think that sometimes it's easier to make a big change rather than to try to tweak an existing practice. So, instead of trying to find an olive oil substitute for frying, why don't you try steaming broccoli and topping it with some chopped nuts, or slicing cucumbers and dipping them in hummus. The crunchier texture might…

Vega Performance Protein. Bonus, the chocolate flavor is soo delicious.
