What's your personal sick/plague v. exericse policy?

I've been working out on average 5-6 days a week for months now. I haven't gotten sick but my 4yr old has brought the plague to the house (strep/scarlet fever) this week but whatever he gave me is a modified version...mostly coughing incessantly and wheezing....anyways, I can't see myself exercising unless I can stop coughing....so A) take cold medicine to exercise or B) take a break.

I'm just afraid of how long B will draw this out and lose some of the benefits I've gained, aka muscles. :(

I'd take a break unless you really think you can get a good workout in. Do what your body tells you to do. You won't lose anything by taking 2-4 days off to get better. Just keep eating healthy and get back at the workouts when you feel better.

I vote for B. Let your body recover. It will thank you. I find that I can easily take a one week break and come back as strong or stronger after the rest.

I agree! You don't want to play around with a cough, especially if you're wheezing on top of it. My daughter ended up being admitted into the hospital because she had a really bad cough + wheezing. Take it easy, rest up and get back at it when YOU feel better

    Thanks!

I know I sound insane but once I get going with a plan, having to put a halt to it....kinda feels like I got the rug pulledo ut from under me. I don't want to fall out of the habit that I worked so hard to get into.

    Good rule of thumb:
If you are ill from the neck up, then exercise.
    Neck down, take a break.
Sounds like your lungs need to recuperate.
