  • HI Everyone- Long time lurker, first time poster. I'm brand new to this way of eating, but am really enjoying it so far. For the month of June, my overarching goal is to learn how to eat this way when I am thrown curveballs. I have a trip to China and one to Europe for business this month, so there will be plenty of…
  • Thanks so much for posting this! I have tried and quit so many lifting routines because it just didn't feel "like me". I went to a trainer and told him my fitness goals -- to be able to do box jumps on the highest box and be able to do a pull up and he started me on yet another weight training routine. THIS is what I want…
  • Anyone looking for a fantastic (albeit a bit sad) read should read The Glass Castle by Jeannette Walls, and the follow up novel Half Broke Horses. Both just amazing. I also loved Wild by Cheryl Strayed and her other novel Tiny Beautiful Things which is a compilation of letters written to her Dear Sugar Column. Also LOVED…
  • I go and I love it. $10/month is by far the cheapest around. True, there are not a ton of heavy weights there, but there are a ton of cardio machines, and plenty of mats for sit ups, push ups and burpees!
  • I would love to join. Need something to help me get back in the groove!

  • Sorry for the late post everyone! I tend to access MFP from my phone mostly, so couldn't post! Congrats to those of you who lost! So...now our biggest loser gets to put up a challenge, right? :-)

  • OMG. Just spent the past 20 minutes drooling over the Paleo recipes on Chowstalker! I am so going to be cookin' it up in the kitchen this weekend!!
  • Welcome to the group!
in hi! Comment by 40goneby40 August 2012
  • I am in! Starting on the 4th. From a diet standpoint, I am pretty close already, just need to eliminate the wine (OUCH!) and the occasional dairy and teaspoons of splenda!. Exercise...definitely need to increase, but my work has free Crossfit classes in the morning, so that should not be too hard! Feel free to add me as a…
  • - Avocados - Nuts from Trader Joes (way cheaper) - Almond Milk - Crossfit (starting slow because of my bad knees, but what a workout)!! - Nike Free shoes. Wearing them makes me want to walk wherever I am walking faster! - Local meat and produce (I looked online and now get all of my meat from a farm down the street!) -…
  • I still track...I enter in calories for everything because I find that I eat too many things (like nuts) if I don't. I also keep track of my macros (I am really trying to keep my carbs down).
  • Thanks again everyone for all of your input and advice. We have all been back together as a family for a week now, and things are going well! The BEST news is that my husband has totally come onto the Paleo bandwagon with me! He LOVES eating this way and says that he has never felt better! My kids, however, are quite…
  • MMMMMM.....Coconut curry fish it is! I am going to try it with fresh fennel and other fresh herbs instead of dried. WIll let you know how it turns out! Thanks for the suggestions!!
  • Wow! Thanks everyone. I am going to pick up the Paleo Kids books and have my kids cook with me more. I am also going to do the "use up and replace" thing to get the right foods in the house. You all have been very helpful! We are on vacation until Sunday. I am now looking forward to having everyone back home again to try…
  • Thanks for all of your comments. the good news is that I am pretty much doing what you all recommend...one bite rule (although I will work on making that bite bigger), no clean plate requirement, and I only make one dinner. My challenge is that I will make something like salmon, vegetables and a starch, and my kids eat one…
  • Do you drink soda? I cut out Diet Coke and it's amazing how much that has reduced my craving for sweets.
  • I just posted a NSV about this to my friends today! I used to be addicted to Diet Coke. About 5 months ago I decided to give it up. For a lot of reasons... - I don't care what the research says, I just don't think putting all of those chemicals in your body all the time can be good. I actually gave up all artificial…
  • I ordered an egg and cheese sandwich for breakfast. I ate half, and realized I was full, so threw the other half away. A few months ago, I would have completely ignored my body and eaten the whole thing because it was there and tasty.
  • I am right there with you. I love a good drink. I am all about wine and craft beer. Unfortunately, I am seeing that I can't drink and lose weight. At least, that is what the scale is telling me. So, I am going to give it up for the rest of the month to see if that is indeed the case. Literally do exactly what I am doing…
  • I mentioned it in a post recently...and am making every effort to eat clean. What it means to me? Nothing that comes in a package. Nothing made by a big manufacturer, no artificial sweeteners, no artificial colors or preservatives. I eat local whenever possible, including local meat and eggs. The only exception for me is…
  • Age: 38 HW: 200 SW: 190.5 CW: 184.5 GW: 145 Not too sure about my GW. Need to lose 40lbs of fat to get into the healthy fat % category. The whole BMI rating thing drives me crazy. Feel free to add me...the more support that I have on this journey, the better, and my food journal is viewable to keep me even more honest!…
  • Feel free to add me too...mother of 2 young kids and full-time employee as well.
  • Me too. New with no friends on here and looking for a network of people in the same boat!
