There's a lot of good info already provided. Here's a blog post a wrote a couple of years ago that might also help you... http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/dorkyfaery/view/reality-denied-comes-back-to-haunt-philip-k-dick-723939

I think you just have to get used to it. I feel your pain. While I'm not self conscious about my calves and I think they look fine on me, I can't buy boots, either. I did buy one pair, one time, but they were so tight as to be uncomfortable to wear all day. So I just buy booties instead. For the record, I'm 5'5" and my…

I am encouraged by the number of folks in this thread who aren't being snarky and remember we were all beginners once.

Hello hello. I'm new to this challenge. Joining because I have gained 22 lbs since the beginning of 2016 and this has got to stop. I need something to help get me back into good habits and I am hoping this will help.

First and foremost, I eat more than 1200 calories/day. I decided that slow and steady was better for me than crash and burn (which is what happened every time I over restricted my calories). In addition to that, I try not to keep food in the house that I will hear calling me from the kitchen. Ice cream is a rare treat…

If you are seeing changes of 5 pounds within a short window, like a four week period, this is most likely due to normal body weight fluctuations due to water retention and release. Don't let those things get you down. Californiagirl has some good points as well.

I weigh my brown rice...and I can tell you most times, 45 grams does not equal the 1/4 cup they say is a serving size. It's not as big of a discrepancy as this pasta example, but I always notice the difference in cooked volume when I cook the rice v. when my husband does. He uses a measuring cup and I always use the food…

It depends on if the craving is due to hunger or just in my head. If it's hunger, I eat and make adjustments. If it's in my head, I find distractions. I walk, knit, go have a conversation, etc to take my mind off of eating.

I did a while ago before the commercials were all over the place, and at the time I liked the quality of the gear but it was a pain in the@$$ to cancel. I had no issues with skipping and I never got charged for something I didn't order, but I just don't need enough workout clothes to justify a subscription service.

What are you doing on the treadmill? Walking? If so, search for walking, or running if that's what you are doing. Try searching for the type of activity rather than the equipment you are using to perform it. Can't speak for crossfit, I've never done it so I am not sure what type of exercise it would be considered.

I would think this would become as boring as salads after a short time. It's helpful to enjoy what you eat. I generally try to find recipes I like and make enough at dinner for leftovers the next day. You can tweak most recipes in minor ways that will make them better align with your dietary goals. I like to use Pinterest…

My husband participates in a program at work similar to this. He's not required to do it, but he does get a discount on his premium by doing so. I don't know if that's the case here, but I think in many situations people have a choice in sharing that information. Some people decide that the discount is worth the extra…

I have mine open to friends only, which I started when I took on a few "noobs" from the adopt a noob thread last year. I wanted people to see that you can eat all kinds of things and still lose weight; that you can have good and bad days and it doesn't have to mean the end of your goals. I have been having some tummy…

I ran into a similar issue a couple of years ago. I was trying to see either a psychologist or a psychiatrist but both had super long waiting lists. Since I already had the meds from my GP, instead I sought out a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, and did my therapy with that person. I was able to get in right away, my…

You are doing great. You say no sacrifices, but personally I see no reason why there *should* be sacrifices. There's no reason to punish ourselves as we lose weight. Besides, what you are doing is learning how to balance all those factors in your life and still be healthy. This will help you the most in the long run, and…

Your attitude is pretty atrocious. Yes, there were some smart *kitten* answers here but there were also some helpful responses and you've chosen to treat them all as hostile. You're doing it wrong.

I will echo what some others have said - there is no substitute for wine! I drink wine for the enjoyment of having wine, not for the buzz I get, so if wine is what I want, vodka is no substitute. Personally, I would just take an extra 20 minute walk or shave some calories in other areas to make it fit.

It really depends on the pizza. One slice of Papa Johns Large Pepperoni is about 320 calories, but the same size with deep dish crust from Pizza Hut is 370. And if you get New York style slices, which tend to be cut larger, they are around 400. I don't think I've met a slice of pizza that was near 250 calories, but it sure…

Unfortunately, you can't target where you lose weight. However, I would recommend incorporating strength training of some sort into your routine to ensure you don't lose muscle mass while you lose fat. I'm not familiar with the Jillian Michaels routines so I don't know if that's alreayd a part of it or not. Great work, and…

800 by lunch and 600 left for dinner means you are eating a 1400 calorie diet. Everyone is different but personally, I cannot eat so few calories. You might want to increase the number of calories you are eating. You may lose weight slower, but you won't be starving in the process. When I get into those situations I tend…

Whichever bread you like that allows you to feel full and stay within your calorie goals. If we changed what we ate everytime a study got released or someone told us something was bad for us we'd eat nothing at all.

Echoing. Let it go and move on.

You may find when you do start to hear it you wish they'd stop. I've lost clost to 40 pounds but haven't lost very much at all in the past 6 months or so, yet people are still stopping me in the halls at work to mention it. On one hand, I suppose I'm glad it's noticable but honestly I'm not one who really wants attention…

Potential issues* You aren't getting enough calories during the day, meaning your calorie deficit may be too large, making adherance difficult * Your macros need an adjustment - consuming enough fat and protein helps many people feel more satiated * You're dehydrated, not hungry - the signals can be confused * You aren't…

Oil and vinegar need an emulsifier to help them bind together so they don't separate so much. I'm guess Kraft's dressing has something that does that. You can use a small amount of mustard to take on that role. It may still separate while it sits but when you first mix it you will get a better distribution, and you can mix…

FYI - that used to be the case but with the new forums (for better or worse) you can keep track of topics you want to come back to by "bookmarking" it using the star in the upper right corner.

What you're really saying is, if you don't share the OPs opinion then don't participate. Which is kind of the opposite of what a forum discussion *should* be. If you aren't prepared to hear opinions other than your own on an internet forum, you're doing it wrong.

As you lose weight, your body requires less energy to run. In order to continue to lose, you have to continue to reduce your calories. Also, sometimes, when people cut out too many things that they enjoyed, they inadvertently replace those calories with others. I'm guilty of this. When I get bored with eating things I tend…

It depends on what you are trying to get from it and what you like to drink. I personally cannot drink most almond or soy milks because they add carageenan and I can't tolerate it. It is true that dairy milk has more protein than almond. To me almond milk is just like drinking water with calories.
