You look terrific! Great job!

Start a new tradition and bring a big green salad for your part. A few years ago my mom was diagnosed with Type I diabetes so we now have a green salad on the table at every meal. You might be surprised at how many people will (maybe quietly) be glad that you did!

I can see where this group is going to be a bonus to my MFP community. I just got back on after being away on my honeymoon. Now that I am no longer alone it is going to be a new challenge to maintain my loss and continue to my goal. I think the addition of this group will help keep me on the road to continued success!…

Feel free to add me. I'm on 1200 calories a day and have successfully lost 23 pounds and am about to log in my 100th day. I'm 55 and my metabolism had come to a screeching halt - I never thought I would get back to where I am now. I also love chocolate but have found that just a square of a really expensive dark chocolate…

He's selfish - and he's avoiding the reality of having having to move in with family - total avoidance of the reality of your lives right now. So unfair to leave you alone with them. If you are having money troubles why is he spending $$$ on beer at at bar? Be firm and tell him you have some important issues to discuss…

Can you repeat the question - I seem to have forgotten...... But seriously - if I didn't keep lists, post notes, whatever it takes - I'd be in bad shape.

Whataburger. I think they're only in Texas - believe I looked for them when I lived in Florida and Alabama - but none to be found. When I want a guilty fast food pleasure - it's Whataburger (but I can have a Jr. burger for only 300 calories - so not THAT guilty!)

I used to eat baby fruits when I was in my 20's because I loved the taste (especially peaches). Down side is they are higher in calories - fresh fruit is always the best choice (in my opinion.)

Meat eater who LOVES vegetables.

You are certainly welcome to add me. I'm not in Oklahoma but not too far south of you..... I wish the best for you and your husband (and family) in this journey that has been put before you. Keep on this website - I think it will serve you well.

You can add me if you'd like - no judging - just encouragement!

Wow! Congratulations! You are definitely an inspiration for someone like myself. I've been into this for 40 days now and have done really well (13 pounds lost) but am suddenly losing my drive to succeed....something I don't want to happen. Thanks for sharing your success.

Everything you listed plus anxiety....My last well woman checkup was 2 years ago and my OBGYN informed me I was just beginning menopause (I was 53!) still not done. Will go 3 months - no period - then BAM I have a cycle like I'm 16 years old! Drives me nuts because just when I think maybe I'm on my way I start all over…

Feel free to add me as a friend. I am 55 years old and struggling as you are. But I have found this site to be very supportive - I asked for friends in the same boat as I am in and have collected a wonderful group of supporters. As hard as this may seem, don't give up. I really believe you can have success with this site..…

Get up and walk into another room . Take a look at yourself in the mirror. Congratulate yourself for the weight you have already lost. Ask yourself what you really really want and if the Doritos will help you achieve that. Eat a healthy snack - something you really love - and yes, dring some water or, some unsweetened iced…

I can accept getting older - I can accept the gray in my hair - I can even accept the wrinkles - all are inevitable and a part of aging. What I can't accept is being overweight and the possibility of one day losing my teeth - because both are preventable if I take care of myself.....still have my teeth and plan to keep it…

Working on it.....got to figure out how to tighten up when I sit at a desk all day! I just turned 55 but am having great success with MFP. 13 lbs. off but another 15 to 20 would be ideal! So thankful for the support I get - a great group of people - most of whom are 50+.

Been there. Done that. Doesn't work and makes you feel lousy in so many ways.....and always set me up to fail. Moderation in all things.....plenty of fruits and veggies.....sensible exercise....... and treating yourself now and again WILL keep you from totally going crazy.... I once had a good friend who was diagnosed with…

I was wondering about that too, because the calories expensed on Livestrong.com was around 180 but MFP estimated 240 - that's a major difference. I tend to overestimate my portion sizes and underestimate my calories burned for this very reason. Will look into a heart rate monitor soon. Thanks !

Feel free to add me. I have found a wonderfully encouraging group of friends - from the comments, I think you already have too!

Wow! I can really see the change. I just did a progress this morning and found I've lost 13 pounds as well - I hope the change is as noticeable on me - just know that my pants are not so tight as they were - and that's a good thing! Congratulations - you look great!
-
I like your attitude! All good advice! :flowerforyou:
-
This is awesome! Congratulations!

All of this makes sense. Thanks for all the comments!

Do you have access to a swimming pool? You could exercise in the water with minimal strain to your knees. Just a thought.

I want to lose 25 pounds by Halloween. Can I ride along?

Mine developed after having a C-section. Even when I was too thin, I still had some flab there.

You're off to a great start! You'll find a lot of support on this site. Welcome!

You seem to be very conscious of your choices, so one day off now and again isn't a bad thing - it's my opinion that it will keep you from binging or completely falling off track down the road. It's your birthday! Go enjoy and be thankful for your accomplishments so far. Happy Birthday!
