Calorie Spikes

I have had a hard time keeping my calorie intake down today. I went back and looked at my nutritional reports and noticed that every 8 -9 days I have a spike in my calories.....anyone else experience this? I tried to keep my snacking healthy but ended up going nearly 400 calories over - had to get on my air walker and push for 45 minutes to counter the increased intake and still went over 79 calories today. Any thoughts on why this is happening?

Not to state the obvious- but my guess is you're hungry! 400 calories over every 8 days averages to 50 cals/day, which really isn't a huge deal- many people advocate for a cheat meal that often. If you open up your diary maybe I could be more helpful?0

if anything this is probably a good thing to reboot your metabolism. I find I have the exact same thing happen every couple weeks for 1 or 2 days I want to eat everything in sight. And I do. Afterwards my body feels refreshed and recharged and I start feeling like I'm losing fat again.0

Is it possible you are underestimating the calories your are burning and your body is telling you it wants more fuel?0

All of this makes sense. Thanks for all the comments!0

For one week a month I usually eat at maintenance calories. It gives my body a break ( it helps mentally also ) I would also suggest that if you get sick ( cold or flu ) or injured from exercise or accident that you eat at least at maintenance calories, it gives your body the nutrition it needs to speed recovery. I find that if I stay in a deficit while sick or injured it takes much longer to heal.0

spikes are a good thing mama. as long as that really is what they are, a random day that has higher calories. It helps to avoid plateauing. People actually build their diets around spike days... It's called calorie cycling... it's an interesting concept0
