  • It helps, and every bit helps when you're injured. The issue, however, is that it isn't the tape that helps necessarily, but knowing where to place it. If you don't place the tape correctly, it's really not much better than randomly applying scotch tape. I know this first hand :)
  • Looking good! Your bum doesn't look flabby at all!
  • Everyone has a different idea of what clean means. For some it means (among other things) nothing processed or refined beyond the minimum, but that isn't what it means to me. (which brings me to why I even raise it....) My absolute favorite clean recipe is salsa chicken. I use spicy salsa from a jar (some might not…
  • If my best friends experience is any indication, you're in for a stressful next three months but you'll be totally fine if you try to keep calm. She had the same experience as you (almost- no iron infusions) but was gaining under her basal metabolic rate. Here is what she did (I'm on the phone with her now!): Her doctor…
  • Just a comment: Several commented that those people who hire housekeepers to clean their home and are overweight have found "the problem" or cause of their weight gain. (I understood this to imply laziness.) Everyone is of course entitled to their opinion, but I just want to leave one thought for your consideration: There…
  • PhoenixRising- I'm dealing with a back injury now and so I'm not able to run, which used to be my go-to cardio for sprints and burning serious calories. I can totally sympathize with where you are now and hope you feel 100% soon. The elliptical is maybe an obvious answer for low-impact cardio, and there thankfully are…
  • I have two go-to breakfasts as of late, and both are delicious!!! 1) 1/2 cup egg whites scrambled on a toasted corn tortilla, with a little avocado and chalula. This is a breakfast taco I eat about 5 days a week. 2) steel cut oats with either sliced banana or strawberries (fruit cooked in the oatmeal) and topped with 1…
  • Wow! There is another board asking folks how they define success. I'm now inclined to revise my answer and link to this post!!! You have a lot to be proud of. Thank you for sharing the pics!
  • Success is reflecting on all aspects of your life, including your family, health, career, and home, and thinking how lucky you are to be where you are. Also, squatting more than the frat boys at my gym is pretty cool, too.
  • Your diet looks good, just watch your calories. Ironically, I find I do much better eating *more* than the 1200 calorie suggestion MFP gives you. If you're working out regularly and not seeing the results you expect, try to keep your calories hovered closer to 1500-1600 for a while (provided your diet is relatively "clean"…
  • That's a complicated question, but I think I can say that I wouldn't leave over that reason alone. Once you're in a relationship with someone for a few years (as in your example) you share something deeper than physical attraction. I'd like to think that something extra is worth sticking it through if the only hurdle is…
  • Whoah! CONGRATS!!!! Did you drop any sizes? If so, how many? I just started Week 2/Phase 1 (but I'm still doing cardio since I've been lifting for a while). I'm pretty excited and doing my best to stick to the nutrition as closely as possible.
  • Two exercises work really well in my experience: do the stepmill for your cardio (machine is like an escalator) and squats (smith machine or free standing) with medium weights, high reps.
  • Sorry for the somewhat obvious answer, but your nutrition will play a huge role in how quickly you see a change in your BF%. Lifting heavy is important, but at the same time you need to get adequate nutrition (protein and good fats) to build the lean muscle. If your goal is not necessarily to add muscle but to shred the…
  • Looks like a good recipe to me, but that is on the understanding these are a treat and not meal replacement. One suggestion: you might want to consider adding walnuts or almonds to the mix just to sneak in a little more nutrition.
  • Great post! This is probably more detail than you want but I typically buy: egg whites whole eggs chicken breasts or ground chicken or ground turkey two or three cans of beans (black, pinto, refried, and/or kidney) almond milk Uncle Sam's Cereal cottage cheese or ricotta cheese (light) random veggies (avocados, celery,…
  • Hey there- first- CONGRATS to those of you in your final week(s)!!! I just wanted to respond to the comment about the fitbit. I got one a few weeks ago and wouldn't recommend it if you are looking for something to give you a sense of how hard you're working in the gym. You're much better off getting a polar heart rate…
  • Hey there, I'm starting week 2 of phase 1 Monday (so am still in early stages myself). I've not done the program before. Looking for those who are doing it for either a second time or are already in phase 3 for advice, inspiration, etc. How nice to do a program where all the details are thought out for you! Also, how cute…
  • I'm just getting serious, too. I need a buddy (or several) to be accountable to. How do you add someone?
