  • What types of things are you typically cooking with it? I might be able to help simplify it :)
  • For me, they are SUPER helpful. I'm an emotional eater and crave high calorie/low nutrition food multiple times a day. A "cheat day helps me filter these cravings. Was it only a moment, or did it persist as something I really wanted? This helps me filter down from eating 3-5 impulse foods a day, to a few one night a week.…
  • The best analogy anyone ever gave me for times like this was: When you drop your phone, do you stamp on it with your foot because you already might have broken it anyway? Nope, you pick it up, dust it off, and do your best not to drop it. Still gonna happen from time to time, but we adjust and move on. You've made great…
  • I actually just made potato and leek soup a few days ago and didnt add any milk, cream, ect and it came out sooo good. I used yukon gold potatoes for their naturally silky texture and sauteed the leeks and let then soften for almost 30 before adding the rest of the soup ingredients to the pan. Well blended, it was…
  • Goal clothing works really well for me. When I joined the gym 3.5 months back I decided to treat myself. I bought 3 skirts - one that fit me nicely at the time (because I want to love an honor my body), one that was a wrap skirt so it would change with me (to honor the process) and the last that was about a size and a half…
  • Awesome!!! Report back and let me know how you feel!!
  • I work at a little bakery & coffee shop. I have unfettered access to treats and sugary *kitten* lattes all day. I gained 50lbs in two years. jeezus h christ,
  • When I'm keeping my kcal low, I actually have more success with lower quantity, high calorie foods. (I eat out more than I should but) grabbing some chicken strips and eating a couple of their greasy deliciousness keeps me happier, fuller, and more comfortable than constantly eating apple slices and carrot sticks. You…
  • Hey Oatbran! I can't tell from your name or pic if youre someone who would menstrate or not, but I feel this way a few days a months as a result of my natural hormone fluctuation - typically occurring for two-three day before my period starts.
  • Thank you! I'd really like to build up my mile time! What kind of small goals do you set for yourself?
  • I've found the best thing is to eat seasonal produce, because it will be the cheapest, some of which you can freeze yourself for even cheaper than prefrozen. Bulk bin beans, rice, and lentils are calorie dense and will give you good energy. I also like to buy whole chickens, they are usually soooooomuch cheaper per pound…
  • You can always ask for less milk, it's a totally reasonable request to ask for 3/4 water, 1/4 steamed milk. I'm with you about not liking almond milk in my coffee and tea drinks. I do however like soy and coconut, these can be lower calorie options, ask your local barista what they stock in their shop :)
  • Great question, I should have clarified! By syrup I meant that same kind of flavor syrups one would use in a latte (like vanilla or hazelnut) more or less a flavored simple syrup, as opposed to a chocolate sause, or other form or melted chocolate you'd typically make a mocha with. :)
  • You're totally right! I based these off whole milk because it's the standard in many cafes, but subbing for nonfate milk with bring these estimates even lower <3
  • Though I hate cat calling and think street harassment is the worst, while I was doing my nightly walk a young man about my age smiled at me and called me Beyonce...I'll take it!
  • It's consistently 110+ for a few months every summer where I live, I totally understand where you're coming from. A lot of people have suggested getting up early, which isn't a bad idea unless you're like me and I now there's no way in hell you're getting up before the sun. I love to jog for my work out, just go at…
  • Yep, oil to fry stuff, not a small reasonable amount t in the bottom of a pan. Tee hee
  • I never realized it as a kid, but as an adult it's extremely clear that my mother has an ED, swinging between anorexia and bulimia. Growing up I had to ask permission for every single thing I ate or drank. Even when I was a teenager. I rememberher telling at me one evening (I was may 10 say the time) for drink a glass of…
  • I feel you. I have zero will power around yummy things and do best when I simply keep them out of the house - but when that's not an option because the SO does love his kettle chips and peanut m&ms. For me, I find I stick with a healthier lifestyle if I indulge just a little bit, but how to keep it as "just a little bit"…
  • I've list all my weight so far without a good scale - I know everyone on here seems by then, and I'm sure they are super useful, but for now just to your best. 1200 is already pretty darn low, you're likely safe to stay there, and then.just e joy your trip and eat all the yummy things reasonably. Have fun!
  • The thing I try to keep in mind when I blow my calories is the comparison of: saying 'screw it' when I exceed my calories and continue to over eat would be the same as dropping my cell phone on the ground, sayi g 'screw it, probably already broken' and stomping it to smithereens. I wouldn't do that, makes no sense, I would…
  • A couple years ago when I decided I wanted to start running I was absolutely mortified that running 10 feet was enough to leave me panting and miserable (zero exaggeration). So I walked until I caught my breath and ran another ten feet, repeat for as long as I could stand it. I went out almost every day and was amazed at…
  • Successfully biked 20 miles yesterday! Reached 18mph at one point. Honestly thought I couldn't go more than 5 miles, destroyed quadruple that!
  • Bigger than that, a large and flat, traditional New York style
  • I think it really depends on whether eating all the time bothers you or not. I started eating about 7:30 this morning, its currently 2:30, I've eaten every 30-60 minutes, and I'm at 621 kcal consumed so far today. It works for me to graze all day on nutritionally dense, lower calories foods (fruit, mostly) to keep hunger…
  • His he's bringing you home treats, it's a shows he wants to do nice things for you and make you happy. At its core, the intention is good. Do some thinking about "treats" that git into your health plan, and ask for those things instead. That's what I do. Sometimes my SO buys me ingredients for meals I really want to make…
  • Hey, I'm a uni student too. You touched on this, but the way I cope is by keeping calories low during the day, so I have room to indulge at night. However, that doesn't mean I don't eat much during the day time. I try to have fruit for breakfast and vegetables for lunch, so volume wise I eat quite a lot, and of whole,…
  • I love cheat days / cheat meals. Firstly, because I plan on enjoying my favorite foods for the rest of my life but this teaches me moderation. It also helps me with cravings. I might be dying for a giant sugary latte and bagle, and if I still want it three days from now on cheat day then I will definitely have it and enjoy…
  • Cooking for two when one isn't (and doesn't like) eating more conciously, can be a struggle. What works best for me is to adjust the proportions on our plates. He can eat a whole chicken breast l, lots of roasted potayoes, and a scoop of steamed broccoli, I eat loads of the broccoli, half a chicken breast a a reasonably…
