Portion control: measure and/or weigh your food. For me, eating sustainably mean picking whole food that keep me full longer while allowing for some treats. Yep. Just track it. I want something warm tonight so I'm having steel cut oats with a little nut butter and honey.

I make a batch of steel cuts oats on the weekend so I can just heat a half cup in the microwave and toss in add ins like nuts, fresh fruit or nut butter. It's great in the winter.

I rotate between toast & eggs and oatmeal. I plan to add cottage cheese and protein shakes to the mix soon. And maybe some sausage a couple days a week.

I enjoy a tablespoon of almond butter with celery or half an apple as a snack. It's filling for in between meals.

I just finished a youtube indoor walking video by Leslie Sansone. It's good for beginners, but she WILL get your heart rate up! Just put her name into the youtube search engine.

Snow on the mountains up around Tahoe. We don't have any down here in the valley yet. Reno is at the bottom of a big bowl ringed by mountains.

Thanks for the reply, Marie. We live in Reno, NV, although I am originally from Nashville, TN and John is from Ottumwa, IA. We both work at the local community college. No kids (by choice) but we do have a 19-year old dog. Merry Christmas! You folks will help keep me on the beam, too.

Hi Marie! I'm 47. Not quite golden yet, but would like to join in. My husband and I will have been married 21 years come February. I have finally bounced back from knee-replacement surgery and am ready to get moving and eating better again. Michelle
