  • Just give it a go :) 1950 is still under a woman's RDA and if you're doing a lot of calorie burning you'll need it! You'll probably find that once logged in mfp it will tell you to eat back that many anyway. In no way take to heart my 2 years, at 13 years old I was 12 stone, at 18 about 11 stone and at 21 about the 10 and…
  • Hey there, thought I'd reply as I'm also 5'2 and used to weigh 10 and a half stone. It took me 2 years to get the weight off but don't lose hope, it's so much easier to get rid of if you've only just put it on! If you are anything like me you MUST do weight training. Keep your cardio to 20 mins only, it's not effective for…
  • Hiya don't worry if you don't see an instant change. I retain fluid to an extent too and for me I had the problem that I was losing lbs on the scales but wasn't losing any inches off my stomach or hips. I've now lost 10lb but it was only right at the end that I had an inch difference that was significant. Other people are…
  • Thank you! Yes you're right, I've been through that just now :) sadly for me it's recalculation gives me the same verdict of 1200 though I am happier now that I know that's what it's supposed to be.
  • Thanks Jane, just joined!
  • Hi! Yes I'm originally from Devon but live in South Wales now. I post on the forums sometimes and know what you mean about recipes and time of day! Please do add me :) I started off at 9st 11lb and am now 9st thanks to MFP... I know that sounds light but I'm only 5ft 2 and most of my height is in my legs = at least one…
  • I should say that I use a 6 kilo bell at the moment so you should be fine to start with your 25lb one. Don't forget though you can make free weights from anything... bags of sugar, cans of beans etc :)
  • not that I'm the ideal person to give advice (5'2, female, no interest in triathlons) but when I saw your post I was interested. You can improve your strength without weights and you don't need a gym membership... I used to do something called outdoor fitness (it was a group but easily done on your own) which was a…
  • I have the same problem, if I turn sideways my thighs stick our further than my belly. The only thing that's worked for me? Kettlebells classes. Highly recommended and tones your whole body. It will be tough at first but you'll develop the most amazing strength from it without looking like you tried to become a bodybuilder!
  • In Britain we have reigns (a harness type thing). I love reigns, think they're great. I had them as a kid. Gives the child independence but you can stop them running into trouble or if they fall you can swing them up and let them carry on. They don't get teasy because you're making them hold your hand all the time and it…
  • I'm on 1200 and it was a challenge at first but I now find it a lot easier. I'm not super strict though so anywhere between 1200-1400 suits me and that allows me to eat a bit more if I have a 'hungry' day. I'm a snacker too... my day looks like this: 9am breakfast (I take it to work with me) 11 am snack 12:30 lunch 4 pm…
  • I'm down 9 pounds and a friend noticed the other day which was nice :) I'm 127 pounds and 5'2... it doesn't sound like much but most of my height is in my legs which means a large roll around my waist and hips where all my fat seems to go! Finding it hard to shift the 'spare tyre' but when that starts to go I'm hoping…
  • just wanted to laugh as I couldn't work out why my post came up as 09:11am... then realised the time difference- I'm in the UK!
  • I agree with dimplez55, your body gets used to exercise. If you still go out in the morning but do say a couple of minutes jogging and then a minute running full pelt you will wake your muscles up and burn more fat. Your muscles burn up sugars in your bloodstream first and if you do the same type & amount of exercies your…
