I would like to join too! Name: Emily SW: 150 CW: 144.5 GW for March: 141 I hope that doesn't seem unambitious! It's just that I lose really slowly...

I've started running with 30 Day Shred on off days - definitely seeing a difference! Plus don't need a gym membership (not feeling rich at the moment)

If you're an absolute beginner, you should start with light handweights for 30 Day Shred. I have one set of 1kg weights, one set of 2kg and one set of 3kg (sorry, don't know the exact conversions to lbs but they're somewhere between 2.5 and 6.5). When I first started 30 Day Shred I used the lightest for every move. Over…

I say I'm skinny fat, but I don't know if I am really. I don't know how to get an accurate calculation of my body fat percentage without spending money, and I'm a bit short of that right now! I do know for sure that I'm unfit though - but I kind of see it as the same thing as being skinny fat. Isn't it generally accepted…

Welcome! I'll add you - I've got about 15 pounds left to go.
-
I'll add you! I'm 27 and looking to lose 15 pounds, but more importantly to get fit!
-
Congratulations! I started week 3 day 1 today, it's amazing how much my stamina has increased in this short time. I found week 1 day 1 really hard too! Keep at it, I think you'll be really pleased with the results.

The USA! I've been there a few times and I just think it's amazing. Probably NYC, but Nashville, Seattle or San Francisco would be cool too...
-
Unfortunately not - I tend to find it much more difficult to motivate myself when I'm feeling down. However, I do find that if I can persuade myself to work out I feel a bit better afterwards.
-
Definitely agree with the above poster - once you've done it once or twice and have got the hang of the moves, try putting your own music on, it's much more motivating. Also what size weights are you using? After the first couple of days I went down to a lower weight - I felt a bit guilty at first but then I realised that…

Cake! If I have a cake in the house I eat at least half of it, I can't stick to just one slice.
-
Thanks, those are some good ideas. Where do you get your whey powder from? I might try it.
-
On your first point - thanks, I know that now :-) Back in my pre-MFP days I would take the calorie goal I read on the side of the cereal packet (in the UK we get told women need 2000 calories a day) and then try and stay under that, even if all my calories were coming from chocolate. Thankfully those days are over!

Thanks guys. I think meat might be the way to go...partner is a vegetarian so that means I don't eat as much as I used to. My daily protein goal is 112 and my calorie goal is 1490 - I think these are the goals that MFP set me. I'm amazed that other people don't find it as hard as me!! Maybe I can blame the food we have in…

I'd like to be at goal by then (130lbs) - I've still got 16lbs to go though so I'm not sure if I'll make it. The last few are very stubborn! I've just signed up for a 5k in June. I really want to be able to run the whole thing. I've just started C25k so I hope I'll be able to do it!

What's 3rd shift? Sorry, I guess I'm not the kind of person you want as a friend seeing as I don't even know what it is, but I'm curious!

Great speech! So inspiring and really interesting as well. I just have a question about giving up sugar, as this is something I struggle with and I'm thinking I might try giving it up. Do you avoid all sugar, or just processed sugar like the sugar in cake? Do you find that this means you have to make all your food at home?…

Could I please join your group too? I found this thread after searching "30 day shred", I am on level 1 day 4.
-
I'm 27 and I'm hoping to start trying at the end of this year. I'm trying to get as fit and healthy as I can before then. Feel free to add me!
-
Pretty much every day! I try to go for something small though and I usually manage to fit it into my calories goal.
-
I'm 5'6.5". My starting weight was 150 and I'm currently at 143. I'm aiming at 130 although I'm not sure I'll get down that low. To be honest I'll be happy just to improve my overall fitness and tone up.
-
I am 5'6.5" My starting weight was 150. I'm now at 143. I'm aiming for 130. I eat 1400 calories a day and I eat back most of my exercise calories (I try and leave a few spare just in case I underestimated calories consumed / overestimated calories burned).
-
I think a lot of us have been there! MFP will often set your calories at 1200 when you first start, but that's really not very much if you're living a normal busy life. Try upping them to 1450 or 1500 and see how you feel then?
-
Snap! I'm the same height, and I have the same goal :-)
-
Ooooh thanks, I also don't have a class in my area but will give that a try :-)
-
I don't know where the person who posted that comes from, but I'm from the UK and "boiled sweet" is a common term here, so maybe she's a fellow Brit :-) We refer to "sweets" instead of "candy".

We're planning on trying in 2013. I haven't got that much to lose, so for me it's not about losing weight so much as just being healthy and getting the nutrients I need to conceive a healthy baby. In the past, I've gone whole days eating zero fruit and veg and drinking a ton of wine and coffee. I have been known to eat…

And me! I lost some weigh then fell off the wagon - trying to get back on in the new year!

Salad! I don't even try to eat salad anymore. I always end up picking out all the nice bits and then being left with a big bowl of lettuce. Yuk.
