  • My biggest motivation to work out is often extra calories so yes I eat them lol. When trying to lose weight, I'd eat half the calories just because I was only estimating the burn and didn't want to overeat. When I'm in maintenance I eat most of all of the calories.
  • I'd say patience. When you have a lot of weight to lose (I lost 90 lbs) it takes a long time to feel like you've made progress. Losing weight for me was easier than maintenance though. After a year of maintenance, it's that realization that I will have to be diligent for the rest of my life unless I want to get fat again.…
  • I do all my workouts at home or outside. I use almost all fitness blender videos on youtube! They are amazing. I invested in a set of adjustable weights as well. I also go outside with my kids a lot now. We take walks, or hikes in the woods, or with my oldest son we will go for scooter rides together.
  • I know that people often say "don't cut calories" when you are nursing a newborn. But I do have to say that cutting calories doesn't necessarily mean starving yourself. You can still cut calories to a reasonable deficit while nursing. I started trying to lose weight on mfp at 4 weeks post partum. I ate 500 extra calories…
  • The only time I was sort of fit-shamed was when my sister invited me and my other sister to go kayaking for her "bachelorette party" last summer. She's outdoorsy so she felt like she would enjoy that more than the typical party. I was super excited for it and was like awesome I don't even have to work-out beforehand,…
  • I'm 5'2.5" and maintaining in the 125 range. I started at 212 in 2015. Been maintaining for about a year now.
  • No. Since I weaned, I have had a much harder time maintaining. I've been in maintenance for about a year now and weaned around decemberish. I've had to decrease my calories since weaning. It sucks, I want to nurse my toddler again lol.
  • I can gain 3 lbs in one day! Probably all water weight. Eat at a slight deficit and it'll come right off. Most people in maintenance have a maintenance range of 5 lbs or so. I've been in maintenance for a year and I frequently go over my range a little bit but it is easy to get back on track. You know what to do!
  • I found that when I was heavier I was wearing clothes that were too tight so it took longer to actually move down a full size. I lost 90 lbs total, eventually I was flying through sizes so quickly that I barely got to wear new pants before they were too big. But starting out was slower.
  • Most of the time, I just log it and move on. Some days, like yesterday, I see that I went slightly over for the day (like 60 calories) and it was a sedentary work day for me so no wiggle room. I decided to take my 8 year old out in the evening for a quick scooter ride to burn off some calories! So sometimes I will do extra…
  • I lost 90 lbs eating whatever I wanted within my calorie range. My main focus was on getting enough protein since that's the hardest thing for me to get enough of. Otherwise I eat candy and cookies daily and it didn't affect my weight loss at all and I've been maintaining since last April!
  • I was diagnosed with BED about a decade ago and worked with a therapist specializing in eating disorders. This helped a lot and I would recommend it. Then finding mfp and changing my mindset around food really helped more. I stopped restricting so much and didn't demonize foods anymore. Prelogging my food for the next day…
  • I lost weight in my early 20s and my boobs still stayed big. I was disappointed, I wanted them gone! Now I'm in my mid 30s and I've had 4 kids. I lost 90 lbs and the boobs were the first thing to go! They look pretty awful now, not gonna lie. But I think it has more to do with hormonal changes related to pregnancy and…
  • If I'm sleep deprived, my workouts are way less intense so I'm sure I'm burning fewer calories. I would say my self control isn't as good either. But I lost weight successfully being constantly sleep deprived with a new baby (my 4th).
  • I lost a ton of weight between ordering my bridesmaid dress last year and the wedding. I brought it to a seamstress shop and she was able to take it in. Probably depends on the dress. It was spendy for me but cheaper than buying a new dress.
  • How many calories per day are you eating per day? Is your weight loss goal too aggressive? It's been harder for me to stay on track in the past if I'm not eating enough calories and I'm feeling hungry and deprived. It may feel counterproductive to add an extra 100 calories to your day, but if it helps you stay on track…
  • Same. I've been up a few pounds this winter and for the life of me I can't seem to keep it off. But I know I'm way less active. I HATE being cold, and Minnesota is miserable in the winter so I am indoors a lot. I exercise still but definitely burning fewer calories overall and my lifestyle has been much more sedentary. My…
  • I've been maintaining since April so almost a year. I noticed my weight slowly creeping up because of holidays, vacation, and overall lack of activity in the winter months. I was only a couple pounds over my maintenance range but decided to buckle down and take off a few pounds. I did it easily but then had a weekend out…
  • I'm 5'2.5" and 125 lbs. During the winter months I've been maintaining at around 1700 calories a day. I've been much more sedentary over the winter. Last summer I was maintaining closer to 2000 calories. I'm so ready for warm weather to get here so I can be more active and eat more! :)
  • I do this in maintenance. I eat at a slight deficit during the week and then go over calories on the weekends.
  • I've been sick quite a bit this year. Sometimes I feel well enough to exercise and sometimes I don't. Listen to your body. There's been several weeks where I didn't work out at all because I just needed to recover and then I slowly eased my way back into it. I work out at home so I don't have to worry about the germ part.
  • Once I realized I could truly eat whatever I wanted as long as I stayed within my calories, something clicked. I was such a horrendous yoyo dieter all my life. But I feel more control over my eating than ever before. It's just simple math. I don't have to eat low carb or be hungry all the time, and I don't have to not eat…
  • Add me to the list of people who don't enjoy running. I've tried, really I have. But it's not going to happen for me. I also dislike cardio machines in general like the elliptical. Thankfully I've found lots of other things I do enjoy. I love lifting, and Zumba, and HIIT. I love taking walks with my kids and hiking. And I…
  • I logged religiously on mfp. I almost never went over my calories. But I ate basically whatever I wanted within my calorie range so I didn't deprive myself. I eat m&ms every day and feel no guilt! Because for me I couldn't live a life without m&ms. ;) I also worked out daily using fitnessblender.com. I bought adjustable…
  • I'm 5'2.5" and weigh 125. I am trying to lose a maybe 5 more lbs and it is hard. But I went from the 140s to the 130s quite easily. I'm guessing that at your height 1800-1900 could be too much for weight loss, depending on your activity level. I maintain my weight at 1700 a day. To lose at a slow pace, I eat 1450. Play…
  • I eat cereal for breakfast because I enjoy it. I usually eat the special k protein cereal because it's hard for me to meet my protein goals for the day if I eat something like cheerios. But I have days where I eat Frosted Flakes or something ridiculous just because I want to. I eat about 1450 calories a day (plus some…
  • 5'2.5" so I'm short. I could probably lose a few more pounds, but honestly I'm good with where I'm at. I just want to be healthy!
  • Forgive the dirty mirror, I never planned to show these pictures to people! My tummy after pregnancies with 4 babies and being obese for much of my life. I lost 90 lbs. total. You can still see the loose skin at the bottom of my tummy and I still have some fat but I'm happy enough with it that I wear a bikini. :) Started…
  • I'm 5'2.5" and 125 lbs and maintain at 1700 a day typically. So 1800 a day at your weight doesn't seem unreasonable. I went on vacation for 2 weeks recently, didn't count calories at all. I know I ate way above some days. But still didn't gain any weight! You'll be ok!
  • I do a lot of salads because I enjoy them and they are filling and low calorie. I also like the flat out 90 calorie wraps and will do lots of different types of wraps. I also eat out at subway more often than I should, because of money not because of weight loss!
