  • This isn't specifically what you asked for but wanted to pitch in my 2 cents. I've never done any individual one on one coaching because of the cost. I have looked into it but found it just out of the reach of my budget. I have done several online group type coaching things. Most recently I did Happy Body Formula which is…
  • All of the above is great advice. If you do well with a firm structure in place though I would suggest doing a whole 30. They give you very strict guidelines to follow which makes it easy to follow as you don't have to think about it too much. Just be sure you do not skip the reintroductions. They will actually turn your…
  • Your son's list of vegetables isn't half bad. You could start off quietly by not mentioning what you are doing just not including rice or pasta. Add a second vegetable you know he likes. I include white potatoes. We don't eat them every day but 2-3 times a week for sure. If he asks where the rice is just say you are out of…
  • I am down for another re-start group. January was a total bomb for me. I think I over-committed and just could not decide what to do and so ended up doing almost nothing. I have been trying to eat mostly primally but my bad choices seem to outnumber the good these days. First I was going to do another whole 30, then a…
  • Hello, I'm Louise, I am 43 years old and I live in North Georgia. I am in desperate need of a restart as the holidays were a bit overboard in the food department. It always starts small but ends in tragedy. I think I'm okay if I eat homemade Christmas cookies but the sugar cravings eventually lead me to the land of pop…

  • Midnight raid on fridge last night and paying for it today. I don't know why I did it but I sure regret it now.
  • One of my favorite sites is www.theclothesmakethegirl.com. I have tried several of her recipes and loved all of them. Her mayonnaise and the dressings made from it are out of this world good. I have two basic breakfasts I switch out. First is your basic bacon, egg and vegetable combo. I have it with greens, zucchini,…
  • Good news/Bad news Good - My back has not hurt for 2 WEEKS!. Yay!! I hope I did not just jinx myself. Bad - I have been so sick with this head cold I have not been to the gym in over a week. That all changes on Friday though as I am taking my son to the gym with me on Friday. Adding him to the membership is his birthday…
  • I take a daily multi-vitamin and a weekly vitamin D. I was having a problem with leg cramps a few weeks back and started taking my multi-vitamin twice a day and haven't had any full blown cramps since. I suspected I was missing something somewhere but wasn't sure if it was magnesium or potassium or something else entirely…
  • Congrats on quitting smoking. That you managed to do that and lose 50 pounds is amazing. Well done.
  • I don't know the "official" rule. LOL as if there was one. But I eat green beans. On the Whole30 they say as long as you eat the pod you can eat the bean/pea. I'm not as strict as some folks though. To me it is an individual decision to make.
  • Heck I want to know where this doctor is.
  • It may have happened once or twice. LOL Whoever is left at the end of the day will usually end up around the table with wine or coffee and pick off the remaining desserts. It is the prize for staying long enough for clean up. I did not sleep well last night. I am a bit worried I am not eating enough. My appetite is so…
  • Went again yesterday. I really had to argue with myself to get there. Especially since I was running late and I only had 30 minutes. It was either go the gym for 30 minutes or sit on the couch for 30 minutes. The gym won this time and I feel better for it. My back was hurting me but the exercises helped and so far today I…
  • Congrats to your mom for maintaining for 10 years. That is my dream. It would be lovely if Thanksgiving was primal for me but we have a large family and always do it up potluck style. Most people bring the same thing year after year but there will be lots of healthy choices. We always have a big salad as my whole family…
  • A super easy one would be Franks Red Hot and butter to make buffalo chicken. I usually use thighs but the leg meat should work equally well. Not only is it really easy but it is what I used to transition my kids away from only eating breast meat. Who doesn't love buffalo chicken?
  • I'm never really hungry either but I'm not sick when I eat. It is very easy for me to forget to eat. At work I'll glance at the clock and realize I forgot to have lunch. Sometimes I'll get a slight headache and realize I forgot to eat. But I have no problem eating. I'm very new at this so I don't have much in the way of…
  • A go to meal in my house that everyone loves, even my kids. Chicken thighs tossed in the crockpot with Franks Red Hot and butter. Once done shred it over a salad of whatever greens and vegetables you have. Sometimes I make ranch dressing, sometimes blue cheese, and sometimes an easy oil and vinegar.
  • Well I didn't hurt myself. I kept it fairly light and only used a few machines plus rode the recumbent bike for a bit. My son called me because he got out of wrestling early so I had to actually cut it short. I had been planning to do a bit more. Maybe this was better for my first time back. A trainer would be lovely but…
  • http://theclothesmakethegirl.com/2009/10/29/best-stir-fry-sauce-ever%e2%84%a2-for-real/ This is a good recipe.
  • I inadvertently did a 15 hour fast yesterday. Woke up late than had no time to cook before leaving the house. Thank goodness for my coffee pot timer so I at least had coffee. I had dinner around 7-7:30 the night before and didn't eat again until 12:30 the next day. Can I count it even though I didn't plan it? LOL I am…
  • I recently saw something about intermittent fasting that suggested you divide the fast over two days. For example noon to noon. That way you actually eat on both days and you still get the 24 hour fast but it is supposed to be a bit easier. I have been considering this for myself and may give it a try once I've kicked my…
  • Goodness, I hope your jaw feels better soon. Eggs may be the best option for soft protein. What about ground meat? I would suggest cottage cheese except for the Whole30. Hopefully some others will have more ideas.
  • Ugh, Thanksgiving! I hadn't even begun to think of the food aspect yet. The biggest temptation I know will be my Nana's nut-bread. It only comes out at holidays so it is a real treat. I will have to see where I am mentally and physically when the time comes. Welcome all you Whole30ers. I did one myself back in March and…
  • I buy the best lunch meat I can and I roll it up. Sometimes I roll bell pepper strips inside, sometimes a really good cheese. Sometimes I give them something to dip it in like homemade honey mustard. Also hard boiled or deviled eggs are a favorite.
  • I am working on getting back on track myself right now. I tried cold turkey a few times and kept failing so decided to give baby-steps a try. So far so good, fingers crossed. I picked what I thought would be the second hardest thing to give up, gluten, and started with that. Then I gave up non-gluten grains, much easier.…
  • Dried fruit, especially the mango from Trader Joes. Nuts, also usually from Trader Joes. I have not tried any paleo baking yet but it is on my to do list.
  • I don't care for bananas but I love plantains. If I eat a high carb vegetable or fruit I usually have it for breakfast. First it keeps me fuller until lunch and helps me snack less. Second it has lots of time to burn off before bedtime.

  • I have been getting back to paleo one category at a time. First gluten, then non-gluten grains, and this week sugar. I am on day 4 of no sugar. It started pretty good. Today I woke up feeling lousy with a headache and just so tired. I thought at first I was getting sick then I remembered it is probably carb flu. I got out…
  • Famuv5ive, when I first started trying to lose weight, many years ago, I did the my dinner, their dinner thing. It very quickly drove me crazy and I always ended up throwing in the towel and eating what they were eating. It is exhausting cooking two dinners every night and then watching them eat things I could not. You are…
