Ok, troll it up. Whatever. I know it's an old post, I know this horse has been beaten, but people still don't get it. Besides, I figured it would have been a more interesting topic than "do you think a poster above should change their avatar?" :)

Call me weird, but there's nothing like a glass of water.

People like to find easy ways to lose weight, I had a friend at work who'd go to sauna a lot trying to lose weight, but he never did. The heat just makes you dehydrate, and a small amount of energy that your body exorts to help you sweat will not account for much, especially if the next step after sauna is going to…

It is harder to lose weight once when your weight is already low, you might want to do some strength exercise and avoid the sugary stuff. The trick is not to under cut your calories a lot, but to clean up your diet as much as possible and have a slight deficit. Your body reacts to every change you make, if you eat too…

Aside from a poster who walks 5 miles with a dog, that's a good workout I'd say, honestly how many of you really do that? For all of you who otherwise got offended, I just want you to know that I have no stake in your own well being, I'm pointing out the stuff people do wrong in an effort to help others out. There's…

I love this one.

Are you talking about delayed onset muscle soreness such as the one that occurs a day or two after the workout? Or does it hurt every time you try to exercise? If it hurts each time you might want to do a different exercise and talk to your doctor, if it is a doms, just do a foam roll and take it easy for a day or two.

You don't.

There is nothing wrong with eating the calories back to maintenance level, but I have to warn you to not over estimate the work out you're doing. I've seen people putting things like "cleaning the kitchen - moderate cardio 800 calories" and stuff like that. Don't over estimate that, or your next thread is going to be about…

I never thought I'd be drinking water and not coke.

I don't. I have my energy expenditure set up manually which includes the exercise for the week, and I stick to a similar routine from week to week. I don't feel like tracking exercises each day. I like to keep it simple.

You're tired because you eat bad and because you gained too much weight, which makes you even more tired, it's called metabolism.

I think the point of this is not to make a nuclear science out of it, but to find simple ball park figures that work. It is not exact science, and it does not need to be. Adding too much information will just confuse an average person just trying to lose some weight.

When I was trying to lose weight I saw a video that explained the calorie needs in a simple rule of thumb which was multiplying your weight by ten and adding another 10-50 or more percent depending on level of activity. You can try that for a couple of weeks and then you will see if your weight stays the same, drops a…

Add me, I can't lie. People de-friended me before :)

I got the same problem. I added some supplements in between meals and try to get an extra meal whenever I can.

drop down and give me fifteen!!! :):)

In order to work for a long period of time, your diet has to be the lifestyle. I don't want to judge you but there is something that you must be doing wrong, and it could be a simple fix. A lot of people here say that this diet or that diet doesn't work for them, they've tried everything, they exercise their butts off and…

Seems like a ridiculous diet to me. Carbs = fuel. You need carbs, if you don't get enough carbs, you are depriving yourself of energy. To get energy your body has to burn fat or eat its own muscle and bones to make up for it. Why would anyone in the world do that? It is called starvation. Grains and legumes are exactly…

I completely ignore sugar from fruits. The sugar in fruits is fructose which is more complex and take some time to digest. The nutrition labeling is misleading in that sense because someone may think that a can of mountain dew is the same as apple. Far from it, the sugar in mountain dew will instantly turn into glucose and…

You don't have to pump iron and bench press 200 lb to be considered lifting weights. when people talk about lifting weights, they mean resistance training. Resistance training could be anything that puts your muscles to work, the astronauts have to do that in space in order to still have any muscles and bones left after…

I watch something on Netflix.

BMR I base metabolic rate. That is the amount of calories you need just so your body can function properly even if you sat on the couch and watched tv all day. If you are lightly active throughout the day, your energy level would be about 10-20 pct on top of that, and higher if you are moderately or very active. To lose…

You can bulk while lowering your body fat, but it is very tricky and you need to be very strict on what to eat. Scooby's website is one of the best I've found on the Internet, you will find everything you need to know right there. I just recently lost a lot of weight, and because I started doing it in a wrong way, a lot of…

Good decision, and good luck.

Each of those have a specific purpose and use, I would not call them bad or not beneficial. What seems to be of no benefit to the beginners, could be a huge benefit to the pro's.

Fat should be 20-30% of your daily requirements, The mfp pie chart can show you the percentage based on your daily food intake.
-
I hope this helps, but when I started losing weight earlier this year I used the rule of thumb I've found online and it was my weight times ten times 20-40 pct depending on level of activity and it worked out fine for me, I've lost almost 40 pounds in about 3 months.

You need to look up your BMR first (google base metabolic rate formula) then that's going to be your lowest calorie intake, to get TDEE you need to add your activity level to BMR, you can find some formulas on the net to help you with that too. MyfitnessPal actually does that for you, the recommended calorie intake that it…

Total Daily Energy Expenditure, which means the energy required for your body in order for you to gain or lose weight. It is based of BMR - base metabolic rate which is the energy required by your body to function normally even if you just sat around and did nothing.
