  • I have a garmin with a heart rate monitor and have had the fitbit one week. I find the garmin gives a higher calorie expenditure and I also found today that when we went out snowshoeing my garmin with gps said we went 2.75 kms and the fitbit was about 2.3. So i think the gps is a bit more accurate. I was wondering though…
  • Wow you look amazing!!! You should be so proud of yourself! I think we all have the ability to change our lifes, our health and our body but not everyone is lucky enough to have such faith in ourselves. I'm glad you have posted your story to inspire us all. And not only do you look beautiful I can tell from your writing…
  • Had a terrible sleep last night. I was just starting tho think about hitting the hay when I got a message from a high school friend. After 15 years cancer free her breast cancer has returned. She has elected for a double mastectomy with immediate reconstruction. She thought she had beat it but has learned you can never…
  • Had a wonderful afternoon. Met a nice young woman today who is from Saskatchewan where my mothers family is from. We had a nice chat. Had a really nice run with my husband for 6 km...well more of a run walk thing as it was getting pretty hot out by the time he was ready. He promises to be ready to go earlier tomorrow.…
  • Just having my morning coffee and then hubby and I are going to head out for a run. Shooting for 5 but secretly hoping we can cover 7km's like we did last time we ran together. Last weekend was too hot to run so didn't get anything but short runs in at personal training. Hopefully haven't gone backwards but maybe the leg…
  • Happy Friday Ladies! Just getting my self off to work. Since Monday was a holiday in Canada it's been a very hectic crazy week. Soo glad it's the last day. Feeling a bit sore from yesterday's workout. It was the first time she had us do burpees in a while and I was missing them if you know what I mean. Missing them like a…
  • So far this week has been going well. My calorie intake has been good this week and I have had two good sessions of personal training. and I have managed to log everything. Hopefully I can continue to do as well on the weekend and get out for a long run. I have a week at a cottage coming up the last week of the cottage and…
  • Yesterday was a good day. Stayed on track with my food. Which I haven't done in a while. :( And had an hour of personal training with my husband. Lori our trainer is tough and I always feel quite spent at the end. I expect my tush is going to feel a bit sore today and tomorrow. We'll be back with her tomorrow. Over the…
  • Happy Saturday All! It's another hot one here today. My plan was to get up early and go for a run but even at 7 am it was 20 celsius. We'd been up later than normal after driving to Toronto and back last night and I just didn't feel like it and the heat pushed my decision. I notice a lot of people asking about different…
  • My vow to log food hasn't gone well. I really have to brace myself and just eat the right things but I seem to have a lot of cravings lately. However, one of the fellows at work who has been overweight the whole time I've been there (20 years) suddenly looks a lot lighter. He's lost 75 lbs by cutting down on his food and…
  • oops forgot my goals for the month. run at least 15km's per week try to log food everyday. Personal training twice a week except for the last week of the month where it's holidays and I will be at a cottage.
  • I kind of got off track and stopped posting and tracking food but I plan on doing better for August. July was an exciting month. My boot camp was over so I started personal training with the girl who ran the boot camp. I was thinking it would be easier than boot camp but I was wrong about that. Hubby has joined me and we…
  • You have such a way with words. Really enjoyed reading your story. I'm a 53 year old woman and last year after completing the Couch 2 5k Program I signed up my friend and husband in the New Year's Day Resolution Run. My husband backed out complaining about a couple of broken ribs he got at non contact hockey so It was me…
  • My husband and I ran Saturday with my friend and her husband. My husband did very well. He completed it in 37 minutes. I was very disappointed in my time as it took me twice as long as it took him. That one hill was killer but I didn't find the obstacles too bad although I really wimped out in running over the fire. I…
  • Just back from boot camp. In our testing we do a 1km run and in 4 weeks my time as improve over 1 minute. Everyone did really good. I think most everyone had an improvement over a minute. It was a beautiful night tonight. Cool enough that we were very comfortable and no bugs. I'll go for a longer run tomorrow evening.
  • Sad start to the day. Last week we had been told one of our retirees had gone to the doctor because of a sore knee. They rushed him to Kingston where the doctor told him that he had to take his leg. He had flesh eating disease. Unfortunately he didn't make it and passed away last night. He was only 60. A couple of years…
  • Michele, I'm with you there on purchasing. I guess I also feel that I get just as much enjoyment out of cheaper items of clothes and I'd rather have a larger quantity too. I did however buy my daughter a very expensive parka last winter cause all I could think about was her freezing to death out walking her dog. Funny…
  • The last few days have been very busy so I haven't had time to post. Monday was my birthday. 53 Years Young...yeah whatever. My closest work friend told me I had to clear my calendar in the afternoon so I did. Her another friend from work took me to a beautiful restaurant called Earl and Angelo's for lupper. I had a salad…
  • Wow it's another hot one here in Ontario. I got up early to get a run in before it got to warm. I was going to go on my own but my husband wanted to come. It's always nice having a little company with you. He basically runs circles around me but that doesn't bother me. Even though it was only 19 C it felt hot and humid to…
  • Happy Birthday Robin. Hope you have a great day!
  • YAY! The scale was very nice to be this morning. It said I lost 2 lbs since my last weigh in which makes me quite happy after the long weekend. Last night's workout was killer. It was hot but at least there was a breeze. After some running intervals and stretching, the trainer had us go over to the hill behind the…
  • Off to boot camp shortly. It's a hot one here today. 29C on my way home so I'm hoping it's at least a few degrees cooler by 7 pm. If not this girl will be springing a gigantic leak!!! Bringing my towel. I really wish my head didn't sweat so much. It's embarassing. Been doing very good with the food choices this week after…
  • Well today I returned to work after a 4 day weekend. I usually have a break at 8 am where I kind of eat my breakfast. I usually have something small just to get me started with my coffee. A bolthouse green goodness drink or something like that and then have yogurt with a half cup of cereal in it at work. I got to work and…
  • I copied the code but it still won't work...anything I'm missing.
  • Having a great long weekend. The weather is perfect! And it's nice having my girl home with me. She has a friend who lives down the road from us who is big time into fishing so she went out kayak fishing with her friend. She didn't catch anything but did catch a huge frog. How do you post a picture in this forum? This…
  • Happy Saturday to All, It’s a long weekend here in Canada. One where the norm is to relax, drink some beer and work on your garden. I left work on Thursday to make the 2.5 hour ride to Toronto to pick up my daughter to bring her home for the long weekend. Last time that she was home was Christmas so I am happy that she can…
  • Still recovering from the girl's weekend at the Edge of Esson. Up late everynight and awake early every morning. Did hot yoga yesterday. it was a great workout and felt so great and I slept quite well last night. Just got home from boot camp. The mosquitoes were out and hungry. I'll miss thursday's night class because I…
  • Nancy, thanks for giving me more details of your location. I was actually born in BC. My parents lived in Alberta but the closest hospital was across the border in Pouce Coupe BC. We also spent a lot of summer holidays in the Okanagan Valley. I've been in Ontario since the end of grade six. A very long time. I'm like you I…
  • Went to the boot camp tonight. It’s always rain or shine. It wasn’t raining but the grass was soaked from raining all night and most of the day. I was soaked through to my socks and underwear. Lots of bear crawling, crab walking, inch worming, burpees, pushups, squats and lunges…oh and of course lots of running. Hubby’s…
  • Well this morning I managed to walk out the door without my yoga clothes. My house is 40 minutes from work and the yoga studio I go to is near work so it’s not like I can just run home and pick them up. So I came home and was going to go for a run. My husband’s knees were acting up but he thought he could manage a walk so…
