  • I have a Garmin Forerunner 110 with a chest strap and it is important to make sure the chest strap is on the right way. If it is upside down the reading it totally wrong. I made a little arrown (with nailpoilish, of all things) to make sure I wear it correctly. I love my Garmin and the accuracy of a HRM for calories is…
  • The listing that I used is this: Water aerobics, water calisthenics I checked the MFP calorie burn against a few online calculators and it seemed fairly accurate. Good luck with it, water fitness is awesome and so much fun! Work that water and watch the results come, in strength, flexibility and health.

I can keep track of treadmill and stationary bike miles that I have access to, but I'd like to include my real bike miles if anyone has ideas how? " If you have a smartphone, you can download a free app called…
  • Awesome share. I needed that today!!
  • I have a mixed green salad every day for lunch - spinach, parsley, coriander and mixed greens (the herbs are helpful detoxifiers). I add a boiled egg white, pumpkin seeds, strawberries, pomegranate arils, blueberries, mushroom and this week's treat - avacado! It is delicious, and so filling. Have fun with salads - there is…
  • Fellow chocoholic here! I have found something that is helping me get through the need (yes, need) for chocolate and still keep within the parameters I have set for myself. Sugar is certainly my issue. Try plain Greek yogurt with unsweetened cocoa powder and stevia. Mix it up and YUM! It is not exactly like pudding, but as…
  • I am hoping that Santa will have a heart rate monitor for my stocking. And yoga pants and nice cushy running socks if there is some extra space in the sleigh. Pretty please Santa, I've been so good. We'll, pretty good. I mean, not the worst, right?
  • Remember - sweat is fat crying!
  • A friend once told me, "You make time for the things you want to do" and that is so true. I drag myself out of bed at 5:30am to do an 8 to 10km walk/run and am at the office by 9am and don't stop again until 11:30pm at least, and sometimes squeeze in a water fitness class somewhere in there. However, I started by dragging…
  • Silly as it sounds, I love the Just Dance games for wii. They help me up my cardio and mix it up from my walking/jogging routine, and they are so much fun. I realized I am even more uncoordinated than I thought, but who cares when you get to dance, sing and jump around burning calories all the while.
  • Made this for Thanksgiving Day dessert yesterday and it was delicious! No one even suspected that they were eating chicken peas, and I was so pleased to share a gluten-free delight with everyone. I served it with vanilla raspberry ripple frozen yogurt and fresh strawberries and it was just lovely. It was a teeny bit dry so…
  • Just keep trying. Every day it will get a little bit better. I felt like that at the beginning, and now I clock 8-12km a day and love it. Remember, it doesn't get easier, you just get stronger. You can do it, just give yourself a chance.
  • Although I plan on getting a heart rate monitor with a calorie burned feature, right now I use a free app on my phone, endomondo. Can be used for lots of different activities and if you set it up online it gives a fairly accurate number of calories burned. It has helped me shed 96.5 pounds so far, and I would be lost…
  • I walk a minimum of 8. 5km every weekday before work (yep, I am out there at 6 am!), and every weekend I hill climb and hike around 12km or more. I am down 96.5 pounds with this so far, so yeah, I am happy to talk about walking! And I actually like walking alone - well, with my sweet puppy - and my iPod. No one to wait for…
  • "I may not be there yet, but I'm closer than I was yesterday."
  • I am loving some Gwen Stefani right now, and new No Doubt songs. But this morning on my walk, I was pumped when Move IT by Real to Reel came on. Man, I need to update that iPod. :)
  • I am a few days late, but I am smiling today because as I sit here with my tablet I realized I have to hold it as my "belly shelf" is not really there anymore. And this after huffing my way up a major hill trail at 7am on a Saturday morning in the pouring rain. :) I smile because I did not make excuses to stay in my nice,…
  • Two cannibals were eating a clown. One asks the other, " Does this taste funny to you?" Ha!
  • Love the Endomondo app, I use it on my BlackBerry every single day. Seeing times, distances, calories burned has helped me lose 88.5 pounds (so far!). That and MFP. :) Oh, and it's free!
  • I am smiling today because even though I was tired and grumpy, I hauled myself out of bed at 5:45am and did a 9km walk before work, with a run (ok, jog maybe) of 1km, the farthest I have ever, ever, ever run all at once. Even the dog was smiling as we ran today. Makes me smile again to remember it. :)
  • I have two: I already did one, I ran 1km during my 9km walk before work (yes, I am out by 6am!). Is the farthest I have managed to run yet, and I know it will make for a better tomorrow. And drink more water today, at least 2L while at work.
  • My main exercise is walking - hills are now my friends - and I have to have music, absolutely have to have it. My iPod is hopelessly outdated so my favorite hill music includes : Ray of Light - Madonna Where's Your Head At? - Basement Jaxx Please Don't Go - K.W.S Told you it was outdated, but I love it. :)
  • Today I will stay on track as I have my weigh-in tomorrow and I want to see that middle number move. Hopefully off to a good start by doing a 9.5km walk before work. :)
  • Hi, I'm Jen and love Halloween. I am super excited to be able to wear a nicer/sexier/more fun costume this year. My partner and I always wear complimentary costumes and I think my weight by the end of September's will influence what we go as this year. Last year we we a 50's couple, I wore a poodle skirt, etc. and he was a…
  • Always a good remnder - I have been close to being hit both while walking and while driving. people, are you so arrogant that you think your message cannot wait until the car has stopped?
  • Once every two weeks. I have driven myself crazy before by weighing every day. Now have no scales in the house and use the body analyzer at work (we are lucky enough to have a Wellness Division devoted to employeee health and wellness). I have found great success both physically and emotionally since dropping the daily…

  • My BF joins me sometimes, and sometimes he doesn't. I am not the food police, nor the exercise police to decide what others should eat or do. (Good thing, as I would have had to arrest myself too many times to count!) I have friends who say they want to join me in my walks and activities, and who bail at the last minute,…
  • I am gluten-free, which means I am off all wheat products, amoung other things. It made me feel much better as I discovered that I have an intolerance - I felt like I had opened my eyes for the first time once I stopped eating it. Inflammation, gone! Tummy troubles, gone! It is different for everyone, best thing to do is…
  • Just bought a new digital one, and am finding it very helpful. I was over-estimating some things and seriously underestimating the measurements of cheese and meats, especially. I have a Cuisinart one, not bad at around $25.
  • What helps me when I feel that old habits might be creeping back is the saying, "A year from now, you will wish you had started today." How many times have I said that to myself in the past... You can do this, just one day at a time, one meal at a time if you have to. :)
