  • I think she will be fine cold turkey. When I wanted to stop the night time feed my husband put her to bed one night and she was fine that night so I knew she would be ok. Good luck!
  • With my daughter I just found she gradually dropped feeds one at a time - she was not asking so much so we gradually had fewer feeds. At 8 months she had first thing and bedtime plus usually 2 other feeds (on demand rather than scheduled) and gradually that dropped to one additional and then none - she just wasn't…
  • I've seen punches (seated or standing) used for cardio?
  • I only have experience of our midwife led unit ad it is closest to me anyway, but would highly recommend it. Calm and quiet and they have all the systems in place if transfer is needed. They only accept you if you are relatively low risk which it sounds like you are anyway, I know you cannot be induced on ours though. we…
  • I started eating 6 dates a day at 36 weeks this time. First delivery ( no dates) was 7hrs 15 mins from waters breaking to deliver y and of this 3 1/2 hours of stage 1 and 29 mins of stage 2 (pushing) This second labour was 3 hours 40 mins from waters breakingvto delivery of which 34 mins were stage 1 and 7 mins stage 2. I…
  • I can't believe December has come round already! I am due this Wednesday (4th) and feel very ready for this baby to arrive! But staying patient as I know it could be some time yet... my daughter arrived on her due date but I think that is unlikely to happen a second time! There is a bit more chatting on the separate…
  • My goals for 2014: - to recover well from giving birth so I can get exercising again - starting with walking and yoga/stretching and hopefully progressing to running, some weights and 30 day shred! - to breastfeed my baby - so eating healthily and looking after myself for that. We had a lot of teething problems last time…
  • I'm due on the 4th December. I have a daughter who has just turned 3 :)
  • another insomniac here! I am on and off anyway so pregnancy just adds a bit more to the mix. I usually find I need to get up and wonder for a bit, maybe have a small drink (although as needing the loo so frequently is a pain this is not always helpful!) and then I end up in our spare room usually! As I am pretty restless…
  • It's a funny thing getting 'ready' for the baby, both physically and emotionally! I know last time whilst I was quite sorted practically (I had time!) I didn't get my head around the idea of being a mum for a long time (infact I would say a few weeks post partum really - it took a while to settle!). This time I am so busy…
  • Sorry to hear you are feeling so down, I am 33 weeks pregnant and know it's hard to feel in control at the minute! I lost about 30lb last year and have managed to put it all back for now during pregnancy due to feeling so awful... and getting into bad habits. the thing is, you worked out a way to lose weight successfully…
  • Thanks everyone, lots of really useful info :) I will have a look around at what is available in the UK (including second hand) and see what I can sort out :)

  • Thank you, that's really helpful, I've been feeling rather overwhelmed! I've not come across BWI here in the uk but will do some research and am planning a trip to mothercare next weekend so can take a look at some optuons - living out in the sticks means I rely on internet shopping a bit much which is not right for this…

  • Jem - thanks! That does make sense too - I guess I had been dieting for well over a year and had lost a fair amount of weight so my body is probably rebelling a bit now! Queenmolly - I am due on the 4th so very close to you! Well done for keeping running too! Bangemup57 - congrats, lovely news!
  • Hello! Well done for keeping coming here and finding the group! I too am struggling with weight this time - last pregnancy I started at 160 and put on 25lb in total which I lost in pretty much 3 weeks post partum. This time I started at 131lb and have already gained 20lb (I am 19 weeks) which is a blow! But I'm feeling…

  • Hey, glad to hear people are doing well :) I have my ultrasound next Tuesday when I will be 19+6. I will be finding out the gender if possible. I feel very strongly that it's a boy so I want to know to be sure either way. I really have no preference, I just want a healthy baby but I am a bit too much of a control freak! I…
  • None of the measurements I have heard of have been very accurate - I know so many people who have been told one way or the other and it was completely wrong. I really wouldn't worry too much. Don't forget that percentiles are all about averages - my daughter was on the 25th when she was born but 2 1/2 years later is off…
  • Don't feel bad - you are not the only one! I too have felt awful and eaten really badly as it was the only thing that helped me... At week 14 I had gained 14lb! I'm not at week 16 and it seems to have settled, in fact last weigh in my weight gain was at 13lb so I'm hoping I'll even out for a bit before putting any more on!…
  • I started feeling sick at 5 weeks - although I wasn't often sick I feel sick the whole time, sometimes just annoying in the background, sometimes enough to stop me being able to do anything much. At 16 weeks now and still feel pretty sick! Also became utterly exhausted at 6 weeks and could barely do anything except just…
  • Definitely get those iron levels up! I felt like that early on and could not understand what was wrong - found out it was my iron levels and as soon as I got them under control I felt much better! Definitely worth sorting out now before the baby arrives too, so you feel as well as possible then :)
  • December 4th here - my daughter arrived on her due date, but I don't imagine that will happen a second time!
  • Not much to add to what people have said above but I've been there too and it will get better! My daughter finally started latching on well at 6 weeks and was then a consistently good feeder from 8 weeks - after a bit of a roller coaster. But La Leche League were fantastic support for me so if you have someone you can get…

  • How is everyone doing? Hoping some of that MS is starting to shift now! I'm still feeling quite sick, but *I think* less than I was. Also a bit less exhausted but that will be partly iron levels going back up! Am getting huge though - already put on 14lb which is frightening - only put on 25 in total with last pregnancy!…
  • also meant to say - am hoping that I stop needing to eat so much soon (it's the only thing that helps the MS) - I've put on 10lb already which is frightening (at 12 1/2 weeks...) - I can't keep this up!
  • how is everyone doing? I've had my first scan now (which brought my due date forward to 4th December, but still a December date!) and showed everything seems to be ok so that's a relief. I was also diagnosed as anaemic which explains some of my utter exhaustion so I now have an iron supplement (and trying to improve my…
  • tell me about it! I'm so fed up of the MS now, but trying to just focus on one day at a time! Each time I have a better day I think I'm getting better, but actually it's just ups and downs! Still, it will pass... hopefully soon! I have my first scan on Thursday (at 11+5) so will be really pleased to get that done,…
  • As everyone else has said it really is variable - some people are actually sick, I just feel sick all of the time when I am not eating! It is much worse when I am tired so I am taking it as easy as possible but not always easy! With regard to the dizzyness I get this too - your blood pressure can lower a bit in the first…
  • Hi everyone, another December due date her - 7th for me (subject to dating scan which we get around week 12 here in the uk, so in around 3 weeks I guess). Am keeping quiet at work for now until I see that heartbeat! I already have a daughter who is 2 1/2. Had forgotten how awful the all day sickness was though and am sure…
  • I was always told (first time around) to keep doing what you have been doing - so if you are a runner, keep running, but don't take up anything new! Also may well be advisable not to do any lifting. If you have been doing 30DS then the modified versions I would have thought were fine. I carried on at my aerobics class…
  • they all sound like good options to me - I would decide which fits in best with your lifestyle - in terms of when you cook, how much time you have, what storage space you have etc and maybe try them out and see? As I said I tend to cook batches and then freeze in portions, but that's just what works for me :) enjoy the…
