I eat about 6-7 cups of air popped popcorn every night. The nice thing about air popped is there is no added sodium, butter, oils etc... Yes it does add carbs but the nutrition facts are nothing to be scared of. Nutrition Facts Serving Size 6 cups (48 g) Calories 186 Calories from Fat 20 Total Fat 2.2g Saturated Fat 0.2g…

I agree - my body feels bloated and tired in the heat - not to mention living in an apartment with NO AIR CONDITIONING is painful! I fully agree that the heat brings about tiredness / laziness. It is hard to be motivated to do anything but sit by a fan. Thank-goodness most gyms are air conditioned. :)

50%, around 200 grams a day. It works well for me as long as I keep my protein around 100-150grams. I like my carbs too much (that is healthy green veggies and whole grains) 50% carbs 30% proteins 20% fats

I have chosen to workout at 6:00am. First of all because it works into my scheduled. Secondly, because the gym is quiet - I have learned to not be intimated in the "weight section". However, when I am fighting with the big guy hogging all the dumbbells for one square ft of space it can be intimidating. I enjoy my peace and…

I am happy to see that there are others who have undergone back surgery :) I pray for strength for everyone. My friends have started to call me "little optimus prime" due to now being made of metal

@ntdcruz - It is wonderful to here you are doing so well. Having a lumbar fusion is definitely interesting. I am still trying to figure out how to tie my shoes as I cannot bend over my knees. Do you have numbness due to losing nerves? My right hip is still very numb; however, occasionally I get these sharp stabbing…

You can buy egg whites in a cartoon. My favorite is organic free run egg whites. They may not be as natural as cracking open an egg but very practical and then your not having to waste or decide what to do with the yolks. I eat about 1/4 cup to 1/2 of egg whites with one actual egg every morning. If I bought actual eggs…

I am 6 weeks post op :) and I am successfully back in the gym this week. Now I am only lifting 5lb dumbbells, a far cry from the 100lb squats I did before, but... nonetheless it is great to be back. I do strongly believe that scoliosis does not stop you from lifting weights. if anything strengthen those muscles so that…

Hi MaryLynn - I have no words of advice as I am two weeks away from Spinal fusion surgery with rods from T10 to L4 to correct scoliosis. As I have been very active in fitness and bodybuilding classes, I am terrified that I will never lift weights again. I pray the best of luck to you and I will hope you update this forum…

This may sound odd, but baked tofu. I am a vegetarian and have discovered so many fun ways to cook with tofu. But if you cut extra firm tofu into thin slices on a baking sheet, add some spices and broil till crispy they make delicious tofu chips :) I have also made tofu nachos with the above recipe but then just melt…

Hey Everyone, I'm brand new to this group. And was excited to see there was a scoliosis forum already started. I am 23 years old CW: 124 and height 5"3. I was diagnosed when I was 14 with scoliosis,I forgo-ed the surgery when I was younger in order to see of the curve would stabilize or not (under chiropractors…

Hi I am on my second week of insanity. And it kicks your *kitten* :) But in a good way. I found I was extremely tired and sore after the first week but the second week seems to be going a lot better. I feel like my body is getting used to the craziness. I have heard it is a great program for not only losing weight but also…

I am also a crazy scale addict. My scale is in the main room (eek) and every time I pass it I weight my self. Oddly the 1-2 pound difference throughout the day can a.) make me feel great or b.) freak me out. I agree with the previous posts saying hide the scale or write positive thoughts on it. Good ideas guys!

Wow, Thanks for posting! I Love tofu and pasta. What a great way to combine them in a healthy manner!
