I was offically diagnosed with PCOS/Insulin resistance a month ago. When my doctor told me I didnt take it to well, they scared me b/c they thought I had cancer and then I had some serious tests done, very emotional month! Today I go to see my doctor about my blood test and the improvements I have made with diet/exercise…

I got a E Cig and today is day 4 of being smoke free :)! I started wellbutrin 2-3 weeks ago to prepair for quiting, used it in the past to quit and it has helped me alot! My main concern was weight gain because every time I have quit in the past I have gained weight! but yesterday on my daily walk I realized I was able to…

I know old navy sizes always are bigger then most brands dont understand that at all! I just get pants from Walmart since I found a brand that fits me really well. I just buy 1-2 pairs of pants until they are to big and start to fall off then go back get a smaller size. I have to try on everything, if it says size 10 and I…

My Body bug says I do about 21-2200 a day just laying around the house all day doing much of nothing :) I up my calories to my BRM and have seen great results in the last 2 months since doing that. I can eat 2000 calories a day and still lose weight?! OK! I feel so much better, more energy and just overall am happier! This…

What really gets my panties in a knot is this: What exactly am I learning by watching the show? They never say what nutrition/how they are eating. They exercise for hours a day, Personal trainers, doctors, and other professionals monitoring them everyday. You never find out if the weight loss is LBM or actual weight. To me…

Sometimes a "week on the ranch" is not actually 7 days... its actually 2 weeks. They also dont drink water/and workout right before they weigh in. One guy one year who won the BL actually pee blood at the final weight in, Im sure thats healthy seems like a great way to lose weight ;)

It really depends on the person asking :) At my job the number is 20 but people who have known me for years and knew me at my biggest the number is 93 :) I will get different reactions from different people, some say I should stop others say Im doing a great job. I dont think its rude really I just dont think coworkers…

I know of four people who have had the surgery and I wouldnt say any of them have been a success. #1 My mother in law had a stomach stappling done years ago (I want to say at least 10-15 years ago) so I would hope things have changed since then! but she got down to her goal weight but had many complications like loss of…

The important people in my life know :) In the last month my coworkers have started making rude comments about how I am wasting away, to thin and my favorit how I have an eating disorder. I have never told anyone at my work what I am doing but its kind of hard to "hide" it when you eat healthy. One of the girls I work with…

YES, its totally worth it :)! Last week I took some clients of mine out to a park we walked all around the park for a couple hours, went to the beach, then went shopping, then home. My coworker said to me that Im just to full of energy and need to slow down. My coworker is the same size I was a year ago and she just sits…

I saw one for a while and I didnt feel it really helped me at all. I can honestly say tho during that time in my life I wasnt ready for a change and think It was just a waste of my money. Today however, I believe I would get a lot out of a couple sessions with one :)!

I cant say I am 100% primal/paleo since I do allow dairy into my diet. I eat 90% clean and usually the form the food comes as, like produce, meats, and some fruit. I stay away from fruit that has a high GI for insulin reasons. The way I approach it is if the food had a face or was grown in the ground I eat it :) if not I…

Um no. I put away 1700-1800 calories a day and am fine, if anything you could probably eat that and still lose weight ;) Just dont go over your TDEE and you will be fine.

So a year ago my doctor whos a OB told me I dont have PCOS but high testosterone levels, cant explain why I cant get prego and unhelpful on why I wasnt losing any weight. I have many of the symptoms of PCOS/IR but she still refused to go there. She told me my periods are "normal" and since I have them still I cant possibly…

I started MFP April of last year :) I cant remember the exact number but I remember the feelings! I was at the doctors office and she put me on the scale and all I did was cry in her office the entire visit. When I get down about no weight loss or frustrated I have a saying "A year from now, you will wish you started…

I have been doing all of this since April of last year (down 70lbs so far!) I cant say how helpful this article really is! Most of this stuff took me hours and hours to find out in medical journals/and doctor visits. I highly recommend anyone with PCOS read it, it explains so much! I guess I am a special snowflake :p

Yes, the only thing that has worked for me is a low carb/low GI diet.
-
YES! Awesome! Grats :D!

Insulin resistance and pcos can cause you to not lose weight like that. I worked out/ate right for 5 months lost 3lbs in that time. Went to the doctor and found out I have IR/PCOS got put on a low carb diet/low GI diet and Im down 70+ pounds this year :) A tall tell sign of IR is an apple shaped body type, but you can also…

I have been following a Atkins type diet for the last 10 months :) I have had great results with it! (70lbs so far!) I guess the only advise I could give you is if you think you could make this a lifestyle then go for it.

I was at 1200 and up my calories 100-200 to BMR over a couple weeks. I actually lost 2lbs in the process :) I did a 1200 cal diet for over a year.

I think my husband has exp this :( Over the last year I have gone down 70+ pounds and sometimes I think he is just frustrated its not happening fast enough for him. Like a week ago he said he ONLY lost 2lbs and wasnt happy with that, makes comments like that etc. I know he is supportive/happy with my weight loss but I…

I have been doing a 1200 calorie diet since July. After months of working out eating my calories I saw no results :( I read the road map and decided to up my calories 100-200 a week to my BMR. After no weight loss for 4-5 months my first week of eating my BMR I saw a 3lbs weight loss lol! Since upping my calories to BMR+ -…

I agree! He had no idea what celiacs disease was, and when I told him he had never heard of it!

My trainer did online courses and offers nutritional advice, doesnt mean I follow it ;) She told me one time if I ate more then 1400 calories a day I would gain weight, I LOL'd! And what Chard said is true, I have been told many times by her to eat 0.8 grams of protien per lb of weight. I worked with a sub trainer who had…

I actually went to the doctor because I was freezing all the time and she told me that my body would adapt and learn how to reregulate body heat over time. She told me its very normal to have this problem! and that I should by some clothes to layer :)!

I think diet is more important then exercise, only because you cant out run a bad diet. I have lost a majority of my weight w/o exercise because of a knee/shoulder injury. I am now to the point where I can do more :)

Coworkers always looking at what I eat and making comments on how "odd" I eat. Some coworkers say I have an eating disorder and Im now "to thin" I dont make rude comments about my coworkers when they down fast food, or are 100+ #'s over weight themselves. Nevermind the facts that Ive seen people at work consume more…

I dropped a majority of my weight on a 1200 cal diet and then in July I hit a wall... it seemed like no matter what I did I didnt drop any weight no matter what I did! So after about 5 months of this crap I decided to try the Road map by Dan and up my calories 100-150 every two weeks to my BMR and see what happen. Within…
