Your HRM should be accurate if it is one that will calculate calories burned. I have a Garmin fitness watch and had to input my height, weight, lifetime activity level, etc. When I do the elliptical at the gym, my HRM consistently tells me I burn 75-100+ LESS than what the elliptical says. Hey thanks, my husband just saw that Costco has BodyMedia FIT for $40 off starting tomorrow, online only! I'll have to research into it, b/c it also says it comes w/a 12-month subscription but not sure to what.

I have an old HRM, like 10 years! Not sure it has a calculator on it, but i"ll check it out.... or is there a formula to use? Also, what's the bodybugg???

Everyone starts somewhere! You can always ask the owner or the front desk staff to just show you how to use the cardio machines. They can't charge for that - kind of an orientation to the gym. When I first started 15 yrs ago, I got a wt-lifting book which helped. The best thing to do is get some Oxygen, Shape or Fitness…

definitely thankful for friends as like you, have no family here. sometimes events are planned, other times it's spur of the moment. yesterday, i knew bout the dinner and nailed it at the gym, but... yeah, i can do the water in between glasses of wine and that would help w/the calories.
