I log both, even though veggies only have a little bit of calories I still think they count. As for fruit, definitely because some have more calories than you may think. Sobshoukd I stick with the 1490 that MFP put me at or my BMR of 1680????

So I just adjusted my goals on MFP and it still recommends I eat 1,490 calories. Should I just change it to match my BMR?

I do use a food scale, but usually just for meats. I will start to use it for other things because I have been reading lately that measuring cups are not very accurate for solids.

Thank you all so much for your responses. I have been confused about all this but have been worried about upping my calories. I will check out some of the calculators you guys have suggested and up my calories to go with my BMR.

Thanks. I still have about 40-50 lbs. to lose. I used a few different sites to calculate it and for the exercise part I put that I do moderate exercise (3-5 days a week) since there are days where I don't have the time.

I'm not very experienced with all this yet, but what I can say is muscle weighs more than fat. So, if you just recently added exercise then you are probably gaining muscle while still burning fat. It's not always a bad thing that you aren't seeing the scale move.

A lot of times I have oatmeal in the morning, but I have the time to sit down and eat it. But if I don't feel like making it I have a Belvita Soft-Baked biscuit. I found out that the soft-baked Belvita biscuits are 40 calories less than the normal ones. They're a quick thing to grab and you can eat them on the go.
