  • Set realistic goals. I don't know when your spring break is but 1-2 pounds per week is usually the recommended amount to lose. It is easier to keep it off when you lose it at a slower pace. Veggies, water, exercise, and cutting down on sweets and carbs. Keep a small notebook handy. Sometimes it is not convenient to log…
  • fresh spinach, fresh veggies as much as possible, Lean Cuisine Meals, Sara Lee Light and Healthy bread, tuna, hummus or garbanzo beans, pita chips, animal crackers (chocolate are best!), oatmeal, tilapia, chicken, apples, craisins to go on cereal. Melba toast. Hope that helps. Oh and eggs. We keep a few boiled ones on hand…
  • Cook them part way the night before in a regular pan then finish them up the next am again in a regular pan. I am actually going to try just soaking them like you would beans overnight. Haven't gotten that far yet.
  • Sweets are my downfall. But I also need that little treat once a day or so. However, the longer I do this and the more conscious I become of what I put in my mouth, I have found that once I eat something sweet then I am yo-yo-ing all day long. If instead, I will eat a piece of cheese or meat, it stabilizes me. As the Bible…
  • According to my nutrition book, 1/3 cup dry oatmeal, old fashioned or quick, is 99 cals or 2/3 cup cooked is 99 cals. Hope that helps. I would go with the dry. Make the number of servings you need and divide the cooked oatmeal by that number so you get your correct serving size.
  • Really, depends on the day and my mood. Currently, it is hummus and pita chips. Chocolate animal crackers. Sometimes it is just regular ol' snack food. I just watch my portions.
  • It is better for me to allow myself regular little treats than to totally abstain. Personally, I need chocolate every once in a while when it has been one of those days. So, I buy a bag and give it to my husband and ask him to keep it in the armory (his loading room). Sometimes after supper I will say we need chocolate. I…
  • How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Little successes will string together to make a lovely necklace. Be kind to yourself. Be patient with yourself. Watch the inner self talk. If you don't lose one week but you did increase your exercise then look at it as a plus. Strike a balance in life. Yes, the weight loss…
  • I am not much help on which one to use. But. .. . . once you decide, calibrate it and make sure it is accurate. My scale is old!!!!! Old! My husband loads his own ammuntion. The weight of the bullets must be accurate. So he put several boxes on the scales because he knows how much they weigh. Then adjusted the scales…
  • All of the above. Find something to do with your hands. I love to crochet and don't nibble when I am cuz it will get it dirty. I work from home and find that I do the same thing. I have also discovered when I am doing this I am avoiding a problem (such as a work issue that needs figured out) or I am just tired of sitting…
  • My knees are not questionable, they are downright shot! Reconstructive surgery on both. This is the 2nd time in my life I have really worked to lose weight. I am 56. Walking has been my main exercise both times. The time before this when I lost 65 pounds (I haven't gained it all back but I needed to get busy cuz I was…
  • Call the hostess and be up front with her. Tell her you are dieting and that you will be eating at home before you come to keep on track and that it is no negative reflection on her. She might just change the menu a bit so that you will not feel left out. That's what I would do. We entertain a lot in our home and one…
