It's a US thing, we use the term ground beef, instead of mince. Although, we do have minced meat pie in the US - I'm not a fan of it. Search MFP using the below syntax for these items to get the information MFP imported from the USDA (US Dept. of Agriculture) database. Use the one closest to what you think the lean/fat…

If you only have a volume serving size for ice cream on the nutrition label, never, ever weigh it assuming 1ml = 1g, because for ice cream it rarely is. Manufacturers whip air into cheap ice cream to make it lighter. The weight conversion from ml (a volume measurement) to g (a weight measurement) will vary based on the…

The Recent list is a query (search) of your Food Diary, similar to a Google search (query) of the internet. Just as someone cannot delete things from a Google search, an MFP user cannot delete things from the Recent list query. The Recent list exists as a one-time search result of the items stored in your Food Diary. You…

When I make a pot of chili and use 90-95% lean, I just pre-brown the ground beef, remove the cooked beef and then use the fat to saute the vegetables. I do not discard any of the fat, so I log the beef as raw in the recipe.

Search for one of the following, depending on what the lean/fat ratio is. Look for the green-checked items. beef ground 95% lean raw beef ground 90% lean raw beef ground 85% lean raw beef ground 80% lean raw beef ground 75% lean raw

If MFP and Fitbit are synced but you are not seeing Fitbit steps, on the MFP mobile app go to Menu > Steps, or on the web version go to APPS > Steps, and make sure Fitbit Tracker is selected as the Step Source. I would recommend reading through the first three posts in this thread on the MFP Fitbit Users group...…

Make sure you have Fitbit set as your Step Source in MFP Settings. Log food only in MFP, let the Fitbit either detect activities or log individual activities in Fitbit, not MFP. Enable negative Calorie adjustments in MFP if you occasionally have a lazy or sick day so that the adjustments will take away Calories from your…

The Dashboard on the web version shows a different equation than the ones on the iOS or Android mobile apps. The web version subtracts exercise Calories from Food and shows Net Calories. The mobile apps add exercise Calories to Goal and shows Remaining Calories (after subtracting Food logged). That is why it is important…

Eggplant is 92% water, 3% dietary fiber (non-digestible), 3% sugar, 1% protein, and 25 Cals/100g. Watermelon is 91% water, 0.4% dietary fiber, 6% sugar, 0.6% protein, and 30 Cals/100g. Anything with that high water content is considered low calorie.

Since you have a Premium account, you have the option of setting different goals for specific days of the week. You most likely only changed one or a few days. You will need to set all days to the same goal. I do not have a Premium account, so I do not know how to do that specifically. Maybe someone with a Premium account…

You can not share recipes directly with another user, and another user will not find your recipes through a search. Your recipes will be displayed in the search results only when you perform a search. There is a workaround to log another user's Recipe nutrition information. Once you log a Recipe to one of your Meals,…

I am 56, 5'8", 150lbs in maintenance and when I have MFP set at Sedentary and take about 10,000 steps per day I get a Fitbit Calorie adjustment of about 700 Calories above my maintenance. I eat back all of the Calorie adjustments I get from Fitbit and have no trouble maintaining; I ate back nearly all of my Fitbit Calorie…

The USDA database I use is at these links. This link searches only the Standard Reference tables. I have this link bookmarked and use it all the time. Once you find an item, copy the name and paste it into the MFP search, which normally brings up the item that MFP imported.…

Yeah, hit or miss. I don't create public food items very often. I wonder if the script might run once per day when the servers are less busy. If the conversions show up eventually in the item you created, it would be interesting to know.

There is no way to manually add steps that then give you an estimate for Calories. You can note the number of steps in the notes section of your Exercise Diary. Or, you could create a custom measurement using the web version which will then sync with the mobile app, and enter number of steps using the created custom…

Have you tried to unlink MFP and Fitibt, then relink them using the website versions only?

MFP has an automated script that converts user-entered weights and volume measurements into other units, when entering a new food item to the public Food Database. It is hit or miss. I don't know if that automated script runs when users add food to their private My Foods list, or if it works on the mobile apps. I would…

I tend to overthink things myself. Here is how I would approach this being as meticulous as I can given the constraints of a rather clunky database. I use the web version mostly to log food, but I do use the mobile app to scan barcodes and copy multiple food entries from previous days (I can multi-select and copy on the…

I am disappointed to read the the USDA is shutting down SuperTracker and Food-A-Pedia. I imagine it has more to do with a possible low number of registered users (or active users) for the amount of funds required to update and maintain the software coding. The underlying databases are currently free to download to anyone…

The issue was fixed the day after this post and has been working since then.

You can not. Which in my opinion is a good thing, because a general MFP user does not know what is in your recipe and will not be able to verify the Calorie and nutrition information. In addition, personal items just add clutter to the public Food Database. You can not share recipes directly with another user, and another…

Well that's a relief. I thought you might be doing the division in your head and had a spasm.

I doubt the recipe ingredient list created and saved in personal WW accounts would comply with the strict software coding requirements necessary for importing them into MFP using the MFP Recipe Importer. Though, I could be wrong. Not all sites on the web that publish recipes bother with following the strict coding…

Did you happen to re-run your Goals or make a change to your personal information that may have had an impact on your goals between the time you first set them and now? If so, that action may not have triggered an actual reduction in the Calorie goal depending on your weight at that time. Each time you re-run goals resets…

If you have an activity tracker or weight scale app linked that automatically transfers the current weight reading, that may override the MFP prompt. If you are already at the minimum daily Calorie goal for women (1200 Cal) or men (1500 Cals), that may override the prompt. For both the above I am not sure, because I linked…
