  • Anything that is "newsworthy" that is of "shock" value, always makes the rounds amongst the talking heads, both left and right. It's been rumored for years that he is. He's gay, AND nice to look at, and I'm at my lowest weight since I was a teenager.
  • I'm not dealing with a parent, but a close friend who is just like family. It's a little unusual, but he who is bedridden, for the most part, is telling us to "get over it, it's a body. Bodies die. Spirit lives on." There are still instances where the human element shows, and you just have to let yourself go into that…
  • I never do. I only eat what my body wants. If you have cravings, drink tea (without any sweeteners). That's stifle the cravings, hopefully. I ate 1200 calories (and less) a day, when I first dropped 60# almost 20 years ago, and have not put any of it back on. It's all maintenance after you drop the initial weight. That…
  • I have to pinch myself when I look in the mirror (and there's less to pinch these days!). I have this sense of disbelief that I'm able to fit in 30s, can actually see my skeletal structure. Others notice it even more. When you're in this body every day, you don't notice it as much.
  • If you're taking in any "extra processed carbs", lose them all. (bagels, rice, pasta) That's usually the case when you're stalled. I've had longer bike rides, then get on the scale the next morning after eating "normally". It shows me gaining weight. It might be that you're adding muscle mass, which is also weight. :)…
  • Taking care of a friend who is in later stages of metastatic bone cancer.
  • I try and do it by individual item. It's going to be closer than anything "processed" with salt, corn starch, barley and the like. If you "kinda" use the same ingredients, put it up as a "Meal".
  • @Miss: I can't see your face, but if it fits with the rest of the outfit, a 9.5 :)
  • small handful of semi-sweet vegan grain sweetened chocolate chips, fresh strawberries, and blueberries. Also, carob chips. Always being mindful of how much I've consumed, then stop right there. The ice cream, cookies, cakes, milk chocolate, was over years ago. :)
  • Drop your processed carbs... cookies, processed cereals, breads, pasta, rice. Replace it with "natural carbs". You'll see a difference. Continue the exercise
  • I lost 55#, 18 + years ago. (215 to 160) I've kept it off. When I hit a certain level, I do something about it. This current loss goes from 172 to 147. Losing the weight is only a small part of the game. Keeping it off FOREVER can be difficult. You just can't go back to what you used to do. it's why you get there in the…
  • To lose weight and keep it off, you have to make some dietary choices. Get rid of the fast & convenient food that you find all put together nicely in a package, parading it as "nutritional". It's not, read the labels. Lose the processed carbohydrates. They're one of the main reasons we continue battling the bulge.. this…
  • I'm working on a digestive cleanse right now, and am going to a colon cleanse after that. Both are part of Dr.Clark's series of recommended cleanses to get parasites out of your gut, where a lot of them live. Occasionally, I'll use senna tea.(at night, of course)

  • Nice! Now keep them just so you know where you came from and what you DON'T plan on going back to. I pulled this same stunt when I dropped 60,,was a size 34, crawling into a 44. You could fit 2 of me in there!
  • A long time ago, I was on a quest to lose about 60#. I did it through keeping my caloric intake between 900-1200 calories a day, and < 1 gram of fat. I was able to do so, lost the 60#, and have kept it off for almost 20 years. with occasional blips back up about 20 of those 60, slowly.. Eventually, I went into "alarm…
  • Salad bars, or stay your current course. Hopefully, your situation finds you with a kitchenette where you can prepare your own foods instead of having to rely on going out to eat at every meal. I once found myself in a situation where I was in a motel for 5 months, had no kitchen (I ended up bringing a crock pot and a…
  • I'll concur, there is no secret. You just know when it's time to take care of business. My main motivation to stay the course is the fact that I don't want to have to go on a spree of trying to lose 60, AGAIN! I did that once, 17 years ago, and haven't had much of a need to do it again, until Mar, where I've shed 22... in…
  • Doesn't your body burn off more during the day when it's active, no? If you have to cave into your cravings, do it earlier so you can have more opportunities to burn it off quicker. You burn more during the day than at night, just by simple activity.
  • Count me in. I'm now down to the low end of the spectrum. With food changes I've made, I hope to stay in that low end. It's nice fitting into clothing I couldn't, just two months ago. I usually sound an alarm at 170... and that's where I was at. It was time to do something about it.
  • I think the ones that open up diaries are just that more ready to be accountable for what they eat, both bad and good. I don't nitpick every bad thing, just will sometimes mention the obvious, but that person usually beats me to it.... It's a nice balance. Now, that's support!
  • Whether I exercise any, or a lot, I keep the same diet routine and don't "correct" because I burned 600 calories today. Do what feels best for you, not what some logic tells you you *should* do.
  • with me, it's "Dear soda pop", "Doritos", "Taco Bell" "Wendy's". Etc etc etc
  • 215. Leg and foot pain. Not too good. Didn't like the way the body looked, either.
  • Yeah, it's more accurate, but takes longer when you're preparing things for yourself and not depending on "Lunchables" to do it for you. I should probably do the same with the home made soup I made earlier today. I didn't :)
  • Just look at it this way, "it is what it is" and let it go. There's always going to be petty, jealous, judgmental people. When that's the case, they have to deal with it. Why make it your problem. You did what you did and you should be proud of it. Succumbing to their "negative energy" only empowers then. Rise above it.…
  • If you opened up your food diary, we might be able to give you more constructive advice. All I'd say is knock out the processed carbs... breads, rice, and pasta, and stick with "carbs that come naturally". You gotta have some in order to keep your energy going for activities.
  • Better to catch it now, and realize what you're doing isn't working. Got up as high as 215, down to 160 (17 years ago), floated up to 172, now down to 148. (just recently) Before & after pics coming! I'm also a vegetarian. No meats at all. Encouragement and frankness given!
  • Support is here! Been there before. It is possible to get to a desired weight and stay there! I once weighed 215#, dropped almost 60. I set a goal of 160. I hit it and then went below it. You need to set a number and then make plans to get to that number. You're going to need to give up some stuff that you found comforting…
  • Ditto, sure, I eat carbs.. There are plenty of unnecessary, processed ones that are BAD, cause you to gain a bunch of weight, and then there are others that are good.(like natural ones occurring in food) I've lost 22# (so far), eliminating all those bad carbs. Eat sensibly, exercise, just don't overdo either one.
  • my 2cents, though, I'm sure they've all been covered.... Open up your diary, we will be able to help you out easier. Lose Subway... Any of their breads are 400-500 calories... and many carbs... There's more bread there, than in a bagel and that's 300. 8 is better for water, not 5. Eat more during the day, less at dinner.…
